  1. DO IT!!!!! Oh, Hi Kristie!!!! And welcome!
  2. No greater story is told than one told with pictures!
  3. Hello there, Mutterman!!!! Thank you for this nice set of NE and for your application to Expert Infantry. Let's get to this!! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required pictures have been posted. Your armor meets all requirements to pass for EIB! With that, I would like to congratulate and welcome you to Expert Infantry!!! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section, I will discuss suggestions made by fellow troopers as well as my own observations. These suggestions, unless specified, will not have any affect on any application. I am thinking that you fixed a couple pics before I was able to look at the application, Ian mentioned removing the paint from the male right side snap and Steve mentioned the paint on the crotch hardware. both good observations and you have already taken care of both. Trim that center ab button plate a little close, did ya?? Although your attachment rivet on your thigh pack is correct, you have left it a bit long. I have seen these ripped off when they are NOT long. I can only say that this is a rip waiting to happen. This line is just a guide to the general location. Just shape them like you have now. I also looked at the top return edge on the back of your right shin. Doesn't that stab into your leg?? You can trim that back if it does. Nice paintwork on your helmet! Steve also mentioned the over rotated look of your forearms. IT is not a requirement to have a strap connecting the forearms to the biceps so a little rotation is not something uncommon. However in your case, the elastic you have between the forearm and bicep connects to your forearm right in the center of what would be the inside bend of your elbow. The seam cover strips on these parts should line up. As a result, the elastic should be attached to the same areas on both the bicep and the forearm. You can see in this pic, the elastic is attached to the inside of the bicep and the forearm. With yours, the elastic is attached to the inside of the forearm, but the SIDE of the bicep. This will automatically over rotate the forearm outward. Aside from out of position, I can't even imagine how you can bend your arm?? This might be something worth looking into. Your Thermal Detonator was mentioned as a concern for the positioning of your belt clips. I feel the small space you have is considered to be minimal as required. Centurion Suggestions: Although you have them, many of your shots above do not show you wearing your rubber gloves and flexible handplates. Please re-take any shots that show otherwise. When you re-take those, slide that left side drop box out just a bit. You already mentioned about tightening up the belt so those slight side seam openings go away. Call me a nit picker, but there is a slight bit of return edge still showing on your forearm wrists. But this is a 30 second fix. Congratulations again!!!!
  4. I actually need to credit Paul (Troopermaster) for that holster info.
  5. Alright Thomas! Thank you so much for your application for Expert Infantry and for sharing this incredible armor with us! Let's take a look!!! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required photos and more are present. I am pleased to say that your armor represents all necessary requirements for EIB. I am happy to congratulate and welcome you to Expert Infantry!! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: This section is used to summarize comments from your fellow troopers as well as my observations that go toward improving the overall look of your armor. These are suggestions and unless specifically stated, will not affect any application. I know you mentioned that Paul did the strapping. I don;t know if he JUST did the strapping or built the whole suit, but either way it is a work of art that anyone would drool over. You just never get tired of looking at a well built set of TM armor and your is no exception. The two things I want to bring up actually have nothing to do with the armor itself. First is your holster. It sticks out because of the straps that go to your belt. I have it on good authority that the original ANH holster straps were originally intended to be loops like ESB. A change was made to attach them rather than loop them so instead of installing all new straps, they were just cut in front at the top leaving a small chunk riveted to the front but the main attachment of the strap was to the rear. Again, I am not asking a repair be made here, nor is it a requirement but it's something seldom seen so it's worth bringing up. Although this is THE strangest holster seen in the film, you can see the chunks on the front while the straps come from the back. Although your blaster is built well, a little weathering can really make it pop. IF not, you can boost the realism of it by painting in the silver parts around the trigger group. Centurion Suggestions: I am sure that a Centurion application is in your future. Just make sure to follow the photo checklist for the application. Congratulations again!!!
  6. As for your DLT-19, as long as it contains the required details (t-tracks on the front, small disk over the trigger on the left side and a box covering the belt feed chute on the left) you may use that. Even if you don;t have an E-11, you will still need a holster, though.
  7. There a couple points made here that I need to clarify. The crotch split rivets may be nickel or brass. Both are accepted. As for the hovi tips, there are still inaccurate mic tips floating around attached to accurately shaped helmet. All that is required is that the mic tips are the correct shape. As long as they have this shape and have screen across the front they are accepted.
  8. The frown mesh was something created by the 501st to shield the wearers face from the public at close contact. The original film never used it.
  9. This is the reason why some prefer the longer trim. I personally like the look of the longer trim because it just looks cleaner. But again, that's just me. It doesn't mean it is law or something required. It will never be a requirement. The pushing back and forth about something this stupid is over. Done. This post has been hijacked enough. This post is about Thomas's awesome TM armor. If you want to continue this debate,(which is a fair one) re-open it in the armor discussion thread.
  10. Don't forget about the bicep hooks if you don;t want to mess with an extra snap
  11. Looks awesome, Brother!!! Never get tire of looking at that armor
  12. Doesn't get much sexier than that!
  13. I fish the great north of Canada. This was from last September
  14. Wait. Are you painting the whole thing or just the details? ATA doesn't require painting unless you bought a styrene kit.
  15. Make sure that you consider a return edge on top before cutting. Hopefully you have a hobby iron that would allow you to do that. Are you needing to trim the front as well?
  16. You might just want yo stick with a stunt trooper. There are a mess load of mods that would need to be done to your current helmet to get it to qualify for "hero".
  17. You can also knock the corner off that rear thigh cover strip. You are gonna get a pokie poke in your detention block.
  18. It would be acceptable You still need a holster, though
  19. That tip in no wY looks like it would give the pinstripe you would need. I couldn't even imagine trying to get that tip into the tear edges
  20. I take it you mean the forearms. That is the way it is supposed to be. Those are modeled after forearms used in the original film
  21. Not too bad at all. Your outlines are a bit wonky but I'm sure you can straighten those out with second pass. What you will probably need to repair is the left side tear below the eye. (As you are wearing it) paint within this area should go all the way to the "walls". If you place a pencil into the valley where the bottom meets the sides and trace all the way around, that will be your guide. Here is an example:
  22. The brow trim meeting at the end of the trap is a luxury not a requirement. As long as it is close and doesn't fall too short, it's fine......as the multiple screen shots show.
  23. You can do it but there are some things that need changing. First, you will need to get a set of hero ears from Terrell. They have only three bumps per side instead of 4. Although you would only trim out three teeth per side, it is highly recommended to fill in the last tooth indents with ABS paste process or gently heating them out with a hobby iron. The hero face in the original film was a totally different mold than the stunt helmets. You will need the bubble instead of flat lenses. And you will need to use 4 attachment points on your holster.
  24. Very glad you made that decision to stick with the 25 mm cover strip. Looking at your thigh, 30 would have been way too wide. This is a great build so far!!!
  25. Well then, Nathan...... ......this is stunning! Thank you for your application for Centurion. As Germain pointed out, the corrections you made, though small, made a huge difference. For someone as tall as you are, this armor looks surprisingly balanced. Not too much black showing anywhere which is something I expect with taller troopers. Anyway, let's look at this shiny armor!! CRL and Centurion Application Requirements: All required photos have been posted. With great pleasure I can say that your armor exhibits all the necessary requirements to qualify for Centurion. Congratulations and well deserved. Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: If you were going for the shiny off the assembly line look, you nailed it. Every Centurion armor earned the badge. But sometimes I get the pleasure of seeing a build with joints like these: Or the seam line on this bicep. You almost can't tell it's two pieces. It's just stuff like this that makes my socks go up and down. I usually have a "if you put a gun to my head" comment regarding something, but not this time. Your Garrison should be honored to troop beside you.
