  1. The vinyl in the hockey bag is reacting to the plastic. Dont use that bag, I had this happen to me too.
  2. Congratulations Eric.
  3. To be honest, if youre doing the scout properly, its not that much cheaper than a basic TK. Theres also more suppliers for TK parts compared to TB parts. Theres also a lot more sewing as opposed to armor trimming, if you are going to make stuff yourself. The accuracy levels changed this past year and some new details were discovered to bring the scouts to a more TK Centurion like level (called Lancer).
  4. Its called a "hold out" blaster for Scouts. The Kenner toy is oversized and innaccurate. The KS one is better but still off ina few spots. Smittys is still the best bang for the buck.
  5. The SE troopers in those scenes are based on Rotj era TK costumes.
  6. A new sale thread just got started http://www.501st.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=73460&highlight=
  7. The maker is defending themselves again and insist that they are an original sculpt. Other than the back plate (which at least they attempt to sculpt from white foam but the details not really matching up), most of their photos and drawings look more like mold cleanup than actual sculpting.
  8. Glad they are helpful.
  9. In the Badlands garrison (western canada), you can simply register on the forum and as long as we know you're not a spambot and that you are indeed a real person, you can see our public forums. The only sections you can't see are the 501st members sections which have event planning, merch etc. This is not unlike Fisd where there are sections you can't see unless you are logged in or are a 501st member etc. I know that on Badlands, we are very open and welcoming to new members and we get the "hi I'm new and I want to be a TK and I don't know where to start". Everyone knows to point people to Fisd or they refer new members to the garrison armorer - which me.
  10. I personally think TM still wont be big enough for you. Go with RT mod.
  11. I would make them more snug fitting with little to no visible gap. Make sure there is no big gap at the knees either. Personally, I don't use foam if the thighs were built to fit correctly.
  12. An Ata build is pretty much the same as an AP build in terms of process. Unless AP has fixed the thighs and shin halves from being mismatched lengths, that would take longer to build to make the halves look even in length if you want it to look right. Ata does come with accurate mic tips (AP does not), way more accurate rubber brow and neck trim and more durable lens material. Ata is slightly yellow beige in color (screen accurate) than AP which is a cool white. Personally, I prefer ATA.
  13. I would lower the biceps and resize them smaller. Cut the butt plate, run some elastics at the base of the shoulder bells around the bicep. Yes, the chest is cut too much. I dont think theres enough plastic for a return edge. If he wants my AM chest (the one in my AM thread, still mint with all the trimming and return edges done to it) I will offer it to him for free, just cover the shipping. Feel free to pm me.
  14. Tried tested and proven on 5 of my builds. -----------
  15. Contact the seller directly for pricing. A complete RT mod is far more accurate and less work for Eib than AM.
  16. Sorry I couldnt make it this year, I've made the trip down the last 2 previous years. looks like you guys had a good time! I'll be attending next year for sure!
  17. If you want to be really close in color, TMC is very close, RT comes second slightly bigger I believe) and ATA comes third as the plastic is slightly more cream colored. AM has a warm tone to it. AP is almost a cool white. Another great match thats cost effective - get an ATA styrene kit and paint it. Use warm beige underneath and top coat with 2 layers of Krylon white (I'll track down the exact color for you, I painted a bunch of styrene chips to try and match the color). I have 2 TKs in my squad that painted their lids and they both match well.
  18. Here's a tutorial on it. http://whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=8685
  19. Congrats Woodchuck!!
  20. You do not want to bring a blaster across and back unless youre willing to lose it. Best case: borrow a blaster to use during the troop. Canada is not very flexible with replicas and such. Worst case, you get your blaster seized and your name ends up on Canada customs black list. Every package you will ever mail or receive will be opened abd inspected and the full taxes and service charges will be billed to you. Trust me, you don't want to go there.
  21. I don't use any adhesive for the neck trim. I simply place the end on, and carefully work the trim following the form of the neck opening, pushing it into every nook and cranny so as to not have any slack. When I get to the other end, I trim it about 3/8" longer than it needs to be and the tension holds it in place.
  22. The Rom FX V3 / revo has pitch control, you can lower the tone of your voice among other controls.
  23. Very sad to hear this. His influence on me as a child and adult were huge. I don't think I would have gone into art without his inspiration. He will be greatly missed.
  24. I would suggest ATA instead. I'm 5 foot 8 inches and about 145 lbs and ATA fits perfect. I built an AM to fit a slimmer build, but it's a lot more work than trimming a kit that's already properly sized. ---------
