  4. Greetings to all! I'm glad to finally share my little progress here. Initially, the goal was to make only a helmet, but now I'm thinking about creating a full armor. The choice of the helmet model was in favor of Vek3d, as it most closely matches the image in the movie. During the printing process, I saw a number of flaws that I decided to fix, and my friend helped me with this. - increased the detail and elaboration of cracks - made more removable parts - redesigned vocoder - added parts from the inner underside - the entire back of the helmet was completely redesigned, bringing it to the image of the Stormtrooper from Rogue one, I'm sure this part was taken from there. - redesigned the ears. 9. Hi Torben, and thank you for your EIB application! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of Expert Infantry. Congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly; In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor, and please keep in mind that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. Not a deal breaker, but it looks like you may have a bit too much padding in the top of your helmet. It is sitting pretty high and for a much better overall look should sit a lot lower. Reference Images In most of the ANH Stunts seeing on screen, the Brow trim goes a bit high than yours. If you want to keep this Ep4 look, we are suggesting to rise it up a bit. Reference Images You may want to turn the screw a few times to loosen it a little and make the ear look more rounded Reference Images The painting of the ears should cover the entire “raised area”. Just need a painting session Trooper Reference images The ear screws should go aligned with the rear edge of the Traps (it is mentioned just for your consideration as it is a more elaborate setting). Reference Images Moving down to your arms, we noticed that your bicep armor is a bit wide comparing to your body. This is just a matter of carefully remove the rear cover strip and resize the biceps Reference Images Just a dressing issue here, take care to position your TD a little bit lower to the canvas belt level. Reference Images We are suggesting to trim the rounded section of your snipper knee corner to match the screen used ones. Easy fix. As you can see bellow, the arms cover strips have different cut ending compared to the legs ones, you would look better if they match. Finally in this section, just another dressing issue to take care every time you put on your amor and it is to make sure that the rear closure of your calves is correctly adjusted without gaps. Centurion Requirements: In this section we prepare you for our highest tier of approval. Because Centurion photos must show more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Level 3 might be seen there and not here and additional photos may be required. We try to point out all that we can from what we are able to clearly see, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. We noticed a different gap size in between the caps and center panel of your thermal detonator , you will need to carefully peel off the center panel and relocate it with the correct place with the checked measurement. Reference Image It looks like there are a couple of tears or holes in your canvas belt that need some attention. Reference Images CRL L3: The blaster may have minor weathering or base metal exposure however, T-tracks and grips shall be of a black plastic appearance with no silver/metallic weathering allowed. This is just a painting session to give another coat of black paint to the t-tracks and the grip. Reference Images Your Scope Rail appears to be a little bowed, perhaps due to there being no metal support on the front section as in the reference image. . Reference Image It looks like your E11 blaster has a bit excess of wire , most blaster seen on screen doesn't have them at all, but when present it's less in amount. Reference Images The Hengstler counter looks like angles a bit. You may want to move it to be more straights. Reference Images That's all trooper. We are confident that you can lead with the corrections and take the next step to the higher level. Perhaps, it would look like a lot of work ahead but even the suggestions made can be achieved and doing so, you will look like coming out directly from the movie. Congratulations for your EIB badge !!!

  17. There is a ton of nuance to stormtrooper armor, and when you have seen firsthand and built enough of it, you definitely identify makers you like and ones you don't, based on whatever criteria you set - lineage, accuracy, quality, thickness or color of the material, the material itself, the fit for your size/frame, customer service of the maker, price and shipping.... the list goes on and on and some prioritize some characteristics over others. That said, the Jedi Robe/Stormtrooper Store armor falls short of other offerings in almost every category measured, other than price, from my direct experience. The pulls are inconsistent, inaccurate, and thin. The armor is recast and the makers are not involved in and give nothing back to this community. Of the 1,133 individuals who have received Expert Infantry Approval (L2) for the accuracy of their armor, I don't believe a single one utilized Jedi Robe/Stormtrooper Store armor that I could find record of (and I maintain a spreadsheet of this data). The data below doesn't lie, and most troopers would be well advised to pick from any of the other makers currently available. Ironic that you mention them, but the Denuo Novo (formerly Anovos, same molds) armor is generally held to be one of the best on the market currently and the majority of us that are selected to work regularly with LFL for their appearance requests wear it (/Anovos). ANH Stormtrooper armor should be "warped" in certain spots, as the originals were hand sculpted, though the Anovos/DN has been "cleaned up" digitally and the surface imperfections aren't present as on say, an RS kit, which I describe as "accurate to a fault". The single piece lower back (kidney/posterior) and overlap construction may be easier to build but are also inaccurate to ANH and pretty significant errors, not benefits (unless you're building ROTJ). People are welcome to make their own decisions, and your experience may vary, but those who have knowledge and experience in this hobby, purchase from other vendors and try to guide others to quality makers, like (most of) the ones below. *Chart updated to just show ANH Stunt and data for the last 10 years, which seems more relevant

  18. I don’t think it’s a case of anyone being down on those kits as much as the fact, times change and more accurate and better quality kits have become available. History shows, when that kind of thing occurs, older products simply become grandfathered, and general improvements become the norm. Legion and Detachments move with the times, costume accuracy improvement is part of that so requirement standards become higher. There are other clubs that follow simpler guidelines, the 501st is renowned for being the premier costuming club, so staying at the forfront, standards and basic requirements have increased across many costumes over the years.

  19. Firstly FX is no longer approvable, we have come a long way with costumes over the last 15 years as far as screen accuracy, Jedi Robe is very inaccurate compared to other makers on our vetted sellers list, Jedi Robe is also a known recaster. Yes people can make up their own minds, if you are happy with what you purchased great, we just supply information for people to read and decide, we do not promote.

As mentioned last month my attention has been mostly consumed by our hosting situation. A number of steps have now been made in the direction we need to go. The domain was transferred to a new custodian last week, and a new server is now up and running. Testing is currently under progress and hope to have more news soon. The promising news is that the new server seems a lot faster, though admittedly there's a lot less users on there! This month has some merch updates, including the launch of our Celebration Tokyo 2025 Patch. With inspiration from Japanese art I am really happy with what the team has produced and I hope you all do too. The CRLs have taken a bit of a back seat over the last few weeks. The Enoch CRL is still awaiting a model, but things look promising there as builds near completion. With the launch of Skeleton crew this month who knows if we might even get treated to something new? As this will be the last update before the new year, I hope you enjoy the holiday season and that the new year treats you well. I hope you all will consider helping me with future runs. With December here, we have to start wrapping up our Merch for the term and I have a few items left to announce. But First, let us cover the old business Old Business "FISD EIB Coins" EI coins are still available, but quantities are becoming limited. In order to buy one, you have to have an approved EI costume and you can not have ever bought an EIB coin. EIB coins are a once and done coin. If you have this one and would prefer one of the older versions, I may have an option for you so please dm me. EIB v11 coin run is open "Official FISD Standard Logo Coin" The coin run is closed. And all the orders have been shipped from all six of our Distribution points. The DMBO might have a few left to sell, keep an eye out for the DMBO's 2nd Annual leftover Merch sale, towards the end of the term. Standard Logo Coin "FISD Standard Logo Hoodie/T-Shirt" The Standard Logo T-shirt/hoodie an hoodie run opened on 11 Oct 2024 and was extended to 9 DEC 2024 All orders should have been placed and they will be fulfilled by Custom Ink. Standard Logo T-Shirt/Hoodie run "Advance to 1500 Keyring/Zipper pull" This is a non-branded merch item, so it does not take one of our limited slots. This run will start on 9 DEC 2024 - 6 JAN 2025. We are going to place a maximum limit of 20 per approved 501st member. Please keep this in mind when doing Group orders. These key tags will be woven so the details are sharp. There is only one variant, the design below shows both side of the tag. Check the Detachment Merchandise Only Forum for details. New Business "FISD Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025" We have completed the design of the Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025 patch and will be opening an interest thread. This Item needs to be ordered, paid for and ready to go so that I have time to get them shipped to members that will be attending Celebration. Click here for more info "FISD Stepping Out Challenge Coin" One of the most requested items in the past couple of years has been the "Stepping Out" logo on merch. We did a Black Staff version of this for Andrew's last team as DL, and the current EI Gold version as well. Now it is time to bring it to all members. An Interest Thread was posted in Late November. We are hoping to get an idea of numbers, and then submit it for approval and do the run in January. Info can be found in the legion holocron LFL Retail Moratorium Lift For most of the year we are under an embargo from LFL and cannot attend retail locations unless prior approval has been given by them. At certain times of the year this embargo is lifted, generally around Blu-Ray / movie releases, May 4th and Force Friday, the recent correspondence from LFL outlines the lift of the embargo: Lucasfilm has informed LEC that the retail moratorium is being lifted December 1-31 at retailers selling Star Wars Related merchandise for the holiday season. All fans, costumed or otherwise, can participate with venues of their choice within this window with the restriction that costumed appearances must not be used in the advertising for the event. Although these appearances will be treated like an open invite, we’ll leave it to the fan groups to independently organize around these events as they see fit. LFL will not need to approve or coordinate these. Please note that retail locations should not include restaurants, bars, or venues with no apparent reason to feature Star Wars characters. In the coming weeks, we may send out a list of ‘preferred’ retailers from certain regions who would welcome fans to participate at their venues within these event windows, but you are all still welcome to make plans with appropriate retailers or venue hosts of your choice regardless of whether or not they appear on the list. Please distribute to your members! With Unquestioned Loyalty Jonatan Östling TK-23592 "Nairy" Attaché Ambassador Master Armorer Program - 2024 Relaunch FISD has many wonderful programs to help members build and submit costumes for our detachment, whether it be a classic Stormtrooper, a First Order Stormtrooper, or even one of the new Imperial Armored Commandos. While our Expect Infantry and Centurion programs get most of the attention, FISD staff wants to relaunch the Armorer Program (Currently called the Master Armorer Program). What is the Armorer Program you ask? Well, it is a program designed to recognize those troopers that go above and beyond to assist themselves and others in getting costumes built, submitted, and approved. One of the goals of all the detachments in the 501st Legion is to help members build and submit costumes that meet and hopefully exceed the minimum requirements of the Legion’s CRLs. Currently the Master Armorer program has the requirement of helping a minimum of 5 members achieve Expert Infantry status. The member must have spent at least 30min physically helping another member with cutting, gluing, sizing, etc, just because they want to help (no money exchanged). The definition of an armorer is “a maker, supplier, or repairer of weapons or armor”. So while we certainly love the feedback that members provide to others on the forums, and the extra steps some do by having video calls to help walk people through issues with their builds, this program requires hands on work. The new program will have the same physical help requirement, but we are going to move from a “wins” system, (where a win was help an individual for 30 min or more) to a points system, and we aren’t limiting it to only Expert Infantry builds. While we are pushing the Advance to 1500 to try and achieve 1500 Expert Infantry members, we recognize that the goal of the detachment is to get FISD members build, submitted, and approved. So we will be awarding points for Basic builds as well. Currently there are 3 levels of the award, FISD Armorer, FISD Senior Armorer and FISD Master Armorer. The new program will add a 4th level at the beginning called the Apprentice Armorer. The point scale will be as follows. 5 points - Apprentice Armorer 10 points - Armorer 20 points - Senior Armorer 30 points - Master Armorer The Armorer candidate would earn points based on what level the member costume they assisted with achieved. If you help with a basic build, you get 1 point, if you help with a EIB build you get 2 points. So a person to basic you get a point, help them again to get their EIB earning another 2 to a total of 3. The thought again here is that we want to help build as many stormtroopers as possible. If you love building armorer and love helping fellow members get their costumes built, then this is the program you’ve been searching for. We look forward to awarding more members with this award as we know how much we all love Troopers helping Troopers. More information can be found here Armorer Rocker Patches Rocker patches are now available for the Armorer Program, there is currently just the one patch, and members are eligible to receive two of them once they reach Level 2, "Armorer". More information can be found here Want to setup a "Fire Team? the Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion Stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. You can find more information here. For those interested here is the original discussion on the creation of Fire teams here With Unquestioned Loyalty Mark Ryner TK-4584 "captsafe66" Fire Team Relations So what exactly are and levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Keep in mind that no question is too small, and that your queries will only be seen by the D.O. Staff. We are here to help in any way we can, so please feel free to send us a message by clicking on this link: @Deployment Officer Team and we will get back to you A.S.A.P.! 22. I think Glen has had more practice than most of us, lol! It takes me a good 15-20 minutes (with a handler) or so when I go HWT because of all the accessories. Speaking of mobility, I am constantly dropping bits when getting kitted up, and since I can't bend down after putting on my calves/thighs without looking like a contortionist I bought a "grabber" device. On my next troop the first thing I dropped was yep... the grabber.
