TK17058 is (finally) reporting for duty! I've been approved since August and completed my first troop on the first training day with the German Garrison. Thank you very much for your help and tips!2 points

Thanks for that! I cut about 10mm out of the left. It was always a lot smaller ( i bought a kit that someone had done about 10% of the trimming on and that was one of the few bits that has stuffed me). Looks HEAPS better, but it's pretty cosy. I've removed pretty much every bit of return edge and reshaped a bit with a heat gun as best I could. The bottom of the bicep is pretty damn tight, but it's fine. If I find it restrictive on troops, I may go back and shim the back edge by 10mm, which won't be visible. Getting closer now!2 points

Dee, Asia, and Ayden ( Vince’s wife and children) have shared the following message on Vince’s Facebook page: “Our family is at a complete loss for words. Vince’s sudden passing has deeply affected us all. We know that many of you are also feeling this heartache and disbelief. Please know that you are in our thoughts as well. We encourage you to lean on one another during this time. For now, we kindly ask for time and space to process and grieve privately, and request that there be no social media posts for the time being. As requested, please refrain from posting anything on social media. Condolences to his family, friends, garrison and squad "Buckets Off" Greetings troopers, We are now past the half way mark in this term and we've managed to do quite a bit, despite the unusual start. Just making the last newsletter @Sly11 was able to announce the first ever Imperial Armored Commando, @Sithtrooper02. This month they have taken it further by passing Level 2 clearance: Expert Infantry! The fact they passed with no comments is a huge testament to the amount of work they put in building an excellent suit that does us all proud. If you would like to join the ranks of the Imperial Commandos you wouldn't go wrong by checking out their build here: Hopefully most of you should have received you racing shirts and are wearing them with pride. If you have not had yours or have yet to pay your shipping costs, please make sure you check in on the sales thread as there have been updates for those affected. With Unquestioned Loyalty Chris Pearson TK-10991 "themaninthesuitcase" Detachment Leader Greetings fellow members, I'd like to thank our Detachment merch officer Jame Silvius (jsilvius) TK-12953, for the huge amount of effort he has put in so far this term. For those who have helmed or assisted in a merch run, you will know just how much work that involves. It's crazy really as you need to keep full records of all transactions, tracking of shipments, packing and sending, fixing discrepancies, sort issues, this list seems endless. That's just helming the run. It doesn't take into account the other duties of the DMBO. James drives discussions in staff on merch ideas, comes up with ideas for designs, juggles our slots and when to use them, plus schedule the full term for timing of release, closures, special events, not to forget the back and forth between multiple vendors trying to get us the best pricing etc., etc., etc. Next time you jump in on one of our awesome merch runs, please take a second to thank James for all his efforts, it's a big job with a Det of our size, and he does it all for the love and our motto Troopers helping troopers. Thank you James for all you do, brining the membership extremely trade worthy and exciting merch. Big job brother and you do it so well. Imperial Attaché patch Imperial Attaché Rocker Imperial Attaché Outstanding Achievement Award With Unquestioned Loyalty Jonatan Östling TK-23592 "Nairy" Attaché Ambassador Master Armorer Program - 2024 Relaunch FISD has many wonderful programs to help members build and submit costumes for our detachment, whether it be a classic Stormtrooper, a First Order Stormtrooper, or even one of the new Imperial Armored Commandos. While our Expect Infantry and Centurion programs get most of the attention, FISD staff wants to relaunch the Armorer Program (Currently called the Master Armorer Program). What is the Armorer Program you ask? Well, it is a program designed to recognize those troopers that go above and beyond to assist themselves and others in getting costumes built, submitted, and approved. One of the goals of all the detachments in the 501st Legion is to help members build and submit costumes that meet and hopefully exceed the minimum requirements of the Legion’s CRLs. Currently the Master Armorer program has the requirement of helping a minimum of 5 members achieve Expert Infantry status. The member must have spent at least 30min physically helping another member with cutting, gluing, sizing, etc, just because they want to help (no money exchanged). The definition of an armorer is “a maker, supplier, or repairer of weapons or armor”. So while we certainly love the feedback that members provide to others on the forums, and the extra steps some do by having video calls to help walk people through issues with their builds, this program requires hands on work. The new program will have the same physical help requirement, but we are going to move from a “wins” system, (where a win was help an individual for 30 min or more) to a points system, and we aren’t limiting it to only Expert Infantry builds. While we are pushing the Advance to 1500 to try and achieve 1500 Expert Infantry members, we recognize that the goal of the detachment is to get FISD members build, submitted, and approved. So we will be awarding points for Basic builds as well. Currently there are 3 levels of the award, FISD Armorer, FISD Senior Armorer and FISD Master Armorer. The new program will add a 4th level at the beginning called the Apprentice Armorer. The point scale will be as follows. 5 points - Apprentice Armorer 10 points - Armorer 20 points - Senior Armorer 30 points - Master Armorer The Armorer candidate would earn points based on what level the member costume they assisted with achieved. If you help with a basic build, you get 1 point, if you help with a EIB build you get 2 points. So a person to basic you get a point, help them again to get their EIB earning another 2 to a total of 3. The thought again here is that we want to help build as many stormtroopers as possible. If you love building armorer and love helping fellow members get their costumes built, then this is the program you’ve been searching for. We look forward to awarding more members with this award as we know how much we all love Troopers helping Troopers. More information can be found here Armorer Rocker Patches Rocker patches are now available for the Armorer Program, there is currently just the one patch, and members are eligible to receive two of them once they reach Level 2, "Armorer". More information can be found here Want to setup a "Fire Team? the Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion Stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. You can find more information here. For those interested here is the original discussion on the creation of Fire teams here With Unquestioned Loyalty Mark Ryner TK-4584 "captsafe66" Fire Team Relations So what exactly are and levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Keep in mind that no question is too small, and that your queries will only be seen by the D.O. Staff. We are here to help in any way we can, so please feel free to send us a message by clicking on this link: @Deployment Officer Team and we will get back to you A.S.A.P.! The 1500 unquestioned loyalty! Greetings troopers! We have recently received our annual software license bill the forum you are on right now. This was covered for us as part of the Legion hosting in the past few years. This arrangement was temporary and has now come to an end. The cost for us this year was $75. We would like to let as many of you contribute as possible, so we are asking for a $2 donation towards the running costs from any members who are in a position to do so. Please send your $2 donation via PayPal friends and family to tk-12953@outlook.com. Once the required amount has been covered we will close this fundraiser. All members who donate will also have the 2024 supporter banner added to their profile, as with the earlier email costs fundraiser. With Unquestioned Loyalty, Your FISD staff team1 point

Might have just been going insane then, it happens. 😂 That does seem to be the only physical difference between it and the normal variant. Everything else seems to be paintwork1 point

Personally I would ask WTF for a replacement, this type of bubbling/orange peel is usually from too much heat in the vac form process, some other WFT builds have had similar issues with other parts of the armor. If you don't get a replacement it may be a good idea to add some stiffening behind, just in case, the thigs can hit your cod when bending and moving.1 point

Templated up and feeling better about version number 3 of the center connector. The center panel looks a lot closer and the overall shape was changed to better suit the new angles, but needs to be at least that long to cover the chest armor indent. I also plan on mixing the grey paint a bit darker this time. I went pretty easy on the glue to avoid it bleeding out from under the red panels, but I do need to go back and CA or leather glue all the corners that have the more aggressive bends in them as well (can see it at the top). Finally, you can't see them, but I pulled up the velvet lining and epoxied two large, round neodymium magnets underneath, so the front of the pauldron is held down by the same magnets that secure the chest, and strong bar magnets in the back. This allows the pauldron to click into place easily and securely but still move some with my arms, but it always wants to return "home". Making some progress again and will cut the connector out of leather next if it looks good. I'm not happy until everyone agrees it's ready for a CRL!1 point

For bicep hooks instead of shaped ABS I really like these instead I cut them with a rotary tool and shaped/glued them into place. They are much more strong as metal1 point
-
Do you have bicep hooks installed yet? That should help keep your biceps in place. I also like to use extra strong elastic (not the regular Joannes stuff) in the shoulder bells and attach them to the underside snaps that are close to my neck as you can see here This gives some strong pull to the shoulder bells so they don't slip down as easily. That and also overlapping my white shoulder straps to reinforce them from sagging. I know it's just a dry fit so I'm sure there's a lot of tweaking to do but are you able to close the gap of your right thigh and shin a big more too? Maybe by dropping down your thighs just a bit or using velcro to keep the shins slightly higher. Looks like you're really close and I think it's gonna look really great once completed!1 point
-
At a troop, found a playground, couldn't resist making memes about it... you know how it goes1 point
-
That bicep looks great now. 20mm is a pretty significant visual change in a good way. My biceps were also small and I found if I squeezed them by their size they fit me better so I used a heat gun to alter their shape slightly and it made a big difference. Obviously you gotta be careful if you go that route but if they feel comfortable as is I'd leave them be. That one looks great1 point
