  1. Greetings troopers! We have recently received our annual software license bill the forum you are on right now. This was covered for us as part of the Legion hosting in the past few years. This arrangement was temporary and has now come to an end. The cost for us this year was $75. We would like to let as many of you contribute as possible, so we are asking for a $2 donation towards the running costs from any members who are in a position to do so. Please send your $2 donation via PayPal friends and family to tk-12953@outlook.com. Once the required amount has been covered we will close this fundraiser. All members who donate will also have the 2024 supporter banner added to their profile, as with the earlier email costs fundraiser. With Unquestioned Loyalty, Your FISD staff team

  2. Templated up and feeling better about version number 3 of the center connector. The center panel looks a lot closer and the overall shape was changed to better suit the new angles, but needs to be at least that long to cover the chest armor indent. I also plan on mixing the grey paint a bit darker this time. I went pretty easy on the glue to avoid it bleeding out from under the red panels, but I do need to go back and CA or leather glue all the corners that have the more aggressive bends in them as well (can see it at the top). Finally, you can't see them, but I pulled up the velvet lining and epoxied two large, round neodymium magnets underneath, so the front of the pauldron is held down by the same magnets that secure the chest, and strong bar magnets in the back. This allows the pauldron to click into place easily and securely but still move some with my arms, but it always wants to return "home". Making some progress again and will cut the connector out of leather next if it looks good. I'm not happy until everyone agrees it's ready for a CRL!

  4. Another fool takes the plunge! I bought heartstopper85's kit and am attempting to take it through to to CRL completion. First step is inventory, next step is sizing checks - I'm 2 inches shorter than him so will likely need to trim and/or print a few new pieces. Then lots of sanding! I'm planning to repaint it all with Duplicolor Cardinal Red. And my trusty sidekick:

  5. Hello everyone! I just wanted to close out my application with a final update. I absolutely apologize for the delay in response. I made a number of changes to my armor from this thread to include: correcting my hovi mic tips, correcting my thermal detonator placement, and correcting my shoulder strapping with white on top and black underneath (recommended by Nairy). As far as the paint on the frown and my sniper knee plate placement, I'm going to leave those as is and understand that it will not meet the EIB qualification. I've consulted with friends and after trying a number of procedures, it is just not something I am comfortable with doing to my armor. What I wanted to say is that regardless of my approval for EIB, you all have come forth and drastically improved the overall look of my armor and I feel proud of the changes made. I cannot thank you all enough for your time in going over my application and giving me detailed recommended changes. It is appreciated more than you know. All the best, Nick TK-10093

  6. So like many people I initially used leftover ABS plastic for my bicep hooks. I simply heated them to shape and glued them in using E6000. Finally after installing my third pair which again broke, I tried something else. I found these 4 Pack Over The Door Hooks which are 2cm wide and are a perfect replacement for my ABS bicep hooks. They have a nice durable white finish to them as well. I had to cut them down using a rotary tool (wear protective glasses) and bent them to shape using pliers. I glued them with E6000 and these things are now indestructible As I bonus I used the other two hooks as V tabs for my posterior armor as those were cracking as well Hope this helps as a more robust alternative to ABS

  8. Super. Cut and painted! Will let the paint dry fully and then get gluing for final assembly. Previous two attempts for comparison.

  9. Only other thing I would suggest is use the right background, your GWL will thank you for it when it comes to editing your images (also if you want to apply for Expert Infantry as I edit those images )

  12. In the home stretch, submitting my application to the 501st Great Lakes Garrison. Working on the adjustments pointed out by gmrhodes13, thank you. Should have those done today. I know there will still be a few tweaks (and a new belt), but next up is a voice box. Completed after last suit up. New rivets and painted white Shoulder straps glued in Chest plate inside strapping adjusted, tighter Thigh strapping adjusted down Padding added to knee plate Pad removed from helmet Need to do: Reshape bicep to be more round, better fit under shoulder Trim Shoulders back a little Shims for sides for less gap Waiting on belt piece to finish belt.

  13. I'm not a DO/GML but as for the belt could you try removing the female snaps from your belt and making new holes next to where they are now? This will be unseen as the belt covers everything

  14. Looks like your shoulder straps are sitting up, you can add elastic which may help them or heat and bend (hot water bath most use) Posterior is pushing outwards on the side, V tabs can help this You could also fille the gap between the thigh ridges, Sugru or ABS paste is normally used Having longer legs I added some velcro to the top front of my boots and inside the shins to raise them a little, cuts down the open black area at the knees. Obviously calves are open too With a heat gun (with practice ) or oven you bend strips of ABS plastic into the shape of a V, only glue one side and the other remains free to allow movement when you bend. Just helps stop the butt plate from pushing back from the back plate.

  15. I would drop your thighs a little. Also looks like your sniper plate is angled backwards and getting stuck under your thigh, depends how it is glued but sometimes you can add foam behind to help push it forward. You have a big gap between the chest and shoulders, also looks too high on your left side. Bicep is just poking out you may want to increase the gap at the elbows which would allow the biceps to come up a little. Belt needs to come up a little and be straight Note the shoulder/chest gaps Chest is sitting too low at the front, shoulder straps should be glued at the front, also need to go over the backplate. You have quite a gap on your sides, you could add a shim between the ab/kidney. Knee ammo strip appears to have the wrong rivet, should be a cap rivet not a pop rivet, also needs to be painted white. You have excess material on the belt you could trim. Detonator could come down a little more on the belt, also rotate so we can see the O detail. Here you can see how hight the shoulder bell is. Also a big gap at your neck, you may want to try to reduce the padding in your helmet.

  17. Yes I do (below picture) the only elastic I don’t have because it’s not required on the ROTJ style are the one that are around the biceps and the shoulder bells .(and I had to say they are useful on my other Tk and TD) what I will do is in a close future during a trooping I’ll ask to one of my garrison brother to do picture with me and will review and post everything here again, many thanks for your valuable feedback which are highly appreciated

  18. Thanks so much for the feedback - super helpful. I did manage to cut about 20mm out of the left bicep and reglue it. It looks so much better. I trooper this morning and here's how it's looking. I still need to do the left, but that's slightly cosier, so I'll see how I go. I'll try to heat and slightly redirect those shoulder bridges to get them sitting correctly/centred. I've lost a couple of kgs/pounds since those original pics were taken and have 2-3 more to go. I'm REALLY hoping I can bring the waist in to avoid shimming. I'll add that extra snap tonight, but it's all coming together.

  19. Troop 66 Toronto , Ontario August 29, 2024 SLC Live 2024 This was an engineering and arts students frosh mixer troop at Toronto Metropolitan University with a sci fi / star wars cantina theme. There was a little bit of concern with it being a freshman / frosh party but as it was a dry event and we had handlers, we felt we would be okay. We were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and respect we were given by the organizers and students, everyone was polite and cordial and we were very well taken care of. With over 1000 students in attendance, this was absolutely amazing. (photo credit Ashvink Photography)

  20. Progress! Red and grey panels have been glued down, but... I'm not sure I'm happy with the connecting panel. Might redo it but overall it's looking good. Next is to ensure the fit is right and then add the magnets that hold it on.
