Thankyou for your replies and information, Walt does not live far from me, and I sent pics to my GML asking about the sizing of cover strips on the biceps. I already did the thighs and shins and they approved those with the adjustments in cover strip sizes. It's tough being 5'4" and having an athletic build. Thankyou again for the support.3 points

47. North American Science Fiction Convention, 20 July 2024 This was a first for our garrison, so there were a couple of small hiccups. What was planned as a three-day troop for us a single day. And with us in the convention center and most of the scheduled events in the adjacent hotel, we were limited in our trooping. But there are always good points about every troop: I got a couple of autographs from Guest of Honor Alan Dean Foster when he visited our table: I saw this during my first troop in the convention center a couple of years ago, but hadn't gotten a picture yet: This planet doesn't look familiar ... You are here: (Actually you weren't there; you were an inch-and-a-half east-northeast (insert "aim" joke [here]).)3 points

Hello all! ID/TI from Providence starting the research phase for future kit number... 7? 8? I can barely keep track (or keep up) anymore. I'm adding a Rogue One TK to the mix, somewhere between a custom Mando, Armorer, OT Xwing, three Ventress kits, LA Bo Katan, and a few still in dream states!1 point

If you are good to go please check against the current working CRL in the first page and then PM me and we can check over the costume and sort out the appropriate photos.1 point

Hi Joey, your costume looks excellent, I'm sure Chris will be happy for the help.1 point

Thanks, good to hear, whew! Yes, that step at the top was totally needed. I'll hit that top front of the ear some more, as you suggest.1 point

I've been done for a while. I would be glad to assist. I'm also a GML for the Carolina Garrison in the heart of the 501st birthplace.1 point

In addition to what JBar has said, I recommend making a build thread! That way you can post photos of your build and ask as many questions as you want! Here's where the ANH build threads are posted, and where you can start one as well: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/80-anh-build-threads/ Also, if you are building this for 501st Legion approval, running your plan for the biceps by your GML would be a good thing to do.1 point

Oh ok I see so assuming this is the shape that fits you you shouldn't need backing cover strips. In fact that would make them slightly tighter. If you look at what I did my cover strips don't perfectly cover the ridged edges of the armor. It allowed me to go for a more 17-20mm cover strip without it looking too bulky. My biceps weren't much smaller than yours in your picture so I understand what you're working with. The other thing I did to cheat some more room was taking a heat gun and reforming the armor to the shape of my biceps. If I remember correctly I had to squeeze the sides laterally and it gave me significantly more room. Just definitely take it very slow and there's never a good outcome when rushing a heat gun. If you don't have one now I'd get one because you'll definitely be using it for other parts. I remember I got frustrated with my left bicep because it got a bit wonky after the heat gun and wouldn't close properly after reforming it. Luckily E6000 is pure magic and it's a great shape now. Hope that helps Lastly get ready for some challenges when you get to the shins. Join the WTF FB page and Walt recently did a good shin video explanation on how they fit Also our Hard Armor forum is excellent for these kinds of questions if you have more down the road: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/29-hard-armor-general-discussion/1 point

Thanks again to everyone for catching this issue and providing me tremendously helpful feedback! Drilling out the pop-riveted snaps was a simple matter with a drill press. I did some measuring, and about 12mm higher seemed good. Also, to get some slack on the belt so it would sit in front of the button plates, I eyeballed that I needed about 6-7mm on each side. Then I remeasured and punched: Now, it looks like I’m at a better height, but there is some sag in front, as you can see by my thumb needing to hold everything up in this photo: The back has the belt only on the kidney plate now: Hoping this is OK now, perhaps with some more Velcro in strategic positions.1 point

Hi Hanson, The belt position shouldn't block basic, but it will not pass Centurion. If you are planning on submitting later for higher level approval, I highly recommend you make the fix now, for a couple reasons: 1) You already have momentum going with your build which will likely wane once approved (if you're like me), 2) The will probably want to just get out and troop once you are finally approved, and the last thing you'll want to do is rip up your belt and make it un-troopable while you fix it. I actually made the exact same mistake when I assembled my belt and ended up disassembling and reassembling it. You'll see there's extra holes in the canvas, but it's all covered so nobody knows it's there but me. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/42868-sha-shas-wtf-anh-stunt-build-complete/#comment-5760831 point

I absolutely want to apply for higher levels, but I humbly don't want to get ahead of myself. Just hoping mostly to become part of this community!1 point

Hello again, I don't suppose you would mind showing a shot of the back side of the costume/belt? I have a friend helping me make it, and we just can't tell from the screen grabs what the back looks like. Also, your work is so amazing!1 point

Looks so good man. Great job. The boss vocal performer caught my eye, does it work well for the voice? Looking forward to seeing it finished.1 point
