BBB day was three years ago and it's finally time to get started. Thanks for the welcome on the new members forum. Here I go... No more BBB, kit was put away and stored in a bin. Started off with the thermal detonator. Figured it'd give me experience trimming, sanding, adhering, using a dremel, and making some mistakes in a place that might not be as critical as other pieces of armor. Made all the cuts using straight cut snips. Sanded the edges on a belt sander and then hand sanded. The oval greeble sat lower than the bottom edge of the control plate so I sanded the bottom off so it will eventually sit smooth on the tube. Ended with a little more hand sanding today (post picture taking) and I still need to cut out the D shape recess. One important lesson learned already: read the CRL more than I think I need too. 850 provides a panel line around the control panel that matches the Level Three Certification ("There is a panel line approximately ¼” 6mm from the edge around the control panel"). I actually cut along that panel line and I wouldn't have if I had read the CRL more closely. Lesson learned, read carefully you fool! Three thermal detonator questions: 1. The CRL says it mounts to the belt with no visible screws or clips. I'm assuming some of you rivet or screw it to the belt and do not use snaps. I've been reading a lot of build threads but have not come across that yet. Any help on good ways to attach the thermal detonator to the belt would be appreciated. 2. I've come across several ways to fill seamss (e.g. bondo). I'll have to do that after I connect the two halves. I'm new to any kind of model work so I'll take whatever advice you have for a newbie's first attempt. 3. The total length will be 8 1/4 inches. The CRL says approximately 8". I'm assuming my 1/4" extra is okay.

Really depends on what size endcaps you got with your kit, many suppliers add pipe to their armor kits. Have you tried scrap yards, I've found quite a bit of weird sized pvc pipe that way. When I've been stuck before for pipe sizes I've used a larger pipe, cut a slots in it, heated closed then glue. I've not seen the SciFiHeaven files myself, others may have. I don't think there are any else I would recommend currently

A few things you may want to address before the DO's get here. Swap this snap, flat side faces out Looks like you have taken off too much material off from your large ab plate Note the area around the base, yours is missing You have some paint on your gums, Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area. Also if your tube stripes are decals and recently applied you may be able to remove them on your right side (put tape on top of them, carefully lift, then replace) Ideally, the tube stripes are positioned approximately a pencil width from the side of the cheek. I'm working on making some comparison photos of various armor sets, I have PewPewCrafts, Akira Yumings, and SciFiHeaven/AlainRivard's sets to compare. Is there any other sets worth adding to the mix for comparing Chest, Back, Cod, Butt, or Thighs to assemble the closest mix? @BigJasoni @TKModder421 @gmrhodes13

Looking good!! However, I believe the kama is still too bright and too red. I've worked on some reference photos. The night sisters gowns are the same red as the night trooper's ribbons. Enoch's kama is a LOT darker. This image is brightened from the original screen cap. The material is a very dark brown and the edging is just barely a brighter red. I tried to darken your image to match a bit better. Notice that your edging is much closer to the night sister gown than to Enoch's. Here's an image with the light source hitting the kama. I also brightened this image from the screen cap. Note how the kama material barely reflects the light. It is very very matte finish. It also appears to be a rather similar color to Morgan's top. The red ribbons on the trooper behind are also quite a lot brighter than Enoch's edges. And one more comparison. I got a lot closer in the color correction on your photo this time. I also added a screen cap from Morgan's fight with Ahsoka when she was outside and better lit. Do you think that darkening your kama and dulling the finish would be possible? I think the coloring on that one piece is the only big difference between the screen used armor and yours.

I’ve been printing a lot while out of state for a work contract, I’ve updated the first post, organized and put the current status of Armor parts. I’ve continually tweaked my print settings and I’m happy with how it’s looking, I’m still not so sure about the helmet since I have to split parts and I am worried about them lining up for the glue up, particularly warping depending on print orientation. Current finishing plan is to pretty closely follow @OddViking327’s video on finishing 3D prints. YouTube- Finishing 3D prints - Filling and sanding print lines for props One step I’m changing though is to start with a coat or two of UV resin for the initial fill and make a barrier between the ABS and Bondo/Acetone slurry. I’m not sure it would effect the ABS as it looks like it dries super fast but I am playing safe, and also hoping that UV resin will add to the armors lifetime durability. Raw print The UV resin I’m brushing on. One cured coat 2 cured coats One caution I’m running into is that the way I had it sitting with sloped edges pointing downwards, it’s nearly imperceptible while I’m working but the resin wanted to pool near edges. After curing it you can see and feel a raised bump around the edge. Something to be careful of, likely easily sanded flat again but it’s something. You can see it better when the UV flashlight is on it like in this picture. darker edge means it’s thicker
