Hello! My name is Tom and I am from Michigan. I finally got my WTF TK in the mail today and will be diving into the build within the week! Happy to be here and excited for this process and to meet some of you. my niece had beaten cancer at the age of 2 years old. She had a long road after with many appointments and follow ups and spent a lot of time in the hospital. There were different programs where different groups or people would come visit the kids and break up the monotony of being in the hospital. I am looking forward to finishing my build and being able to join the Great Lakes Garrison and give back. looking forward to what’s to come !3 points

Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advance to 1500 Advanced Tactics Awards Newsletter Editor Staff List 2023 Follow FISD Greetings troopers, Another month in the books. This one has been a bit chaotic for me with Darth Life rearing their unwanted head. Though on the plus side I did finally make the first cuts on my TLJ build. With all the recent work on CRLs for Captain Enoch and the Imperial Commando, we noticed that the old CRL header did not really make sense anymore. This month with some help from the Legion Membership Office (LMO) we updated the header which means we updated all our CRLs! This also meant we updated all of the original trilogy kit based CRLs to add back some items removed from the header. The key points to note: Standards have not changed. The header is now more generic and suited to all of our CRLs. With the rise of modern suits we have clarified what is not acceptable as a build material, and that all 3D printed items must be smooth and not show visible print lines. Only Original Trilogy suits will show the rules about Rubies and FX armour. Please do make sure you check out the updates and if you have any questions please let us know. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Another key milestone this month is the reveal of the new Valkyries logo. We had a lot of great input and the quality of the entries was high. The final design is a great representation of the ladies of our detachment and something I look forward to seeing more of, and more of you who it represents. Make sure you read on to see the design if you've not yet seen it. With the summer now upon us for the majority of us, troop counts will be peaking. Make sure you get out and enjoy your armour at least once. Though remember to look after your self and keep hydrated. A stormtrooper might be the coolest thing in the legion but it won't stop you passing out in the heat if you do not look after your self. Imperial Attaché patch Imperial Attaché Rocker Imperial Attaché Outstanding Achievement Award With Unquestioned Loyalty Jonatan Östling TK-23592 "Nairy" Attaché Ambassador Master Armorer Program - 2024 Relaunch FISD has many wonderful programs to help members build and submit costumes for our detachment, whether it be a classic Stormtrooper, a First Order Stormtrooper, or even one of the new Imperial Armored Commandos. While our Expect Infantry and Centurion programs get most of the attention, FISD staff wants to relaunch the Armorer Program (Currently called the Master Armorer Program). What is the Armorer Program you ask? Well, it is a program designed to recognize those troopers that go above and beyond to assist themselves and others in getting costumes built, submitted, and approved. One of the goals of all the detachments in the 501st Legion is to help members build and submit costumes that meet and hopefully exceed the minimum requirements of the Legion’s CRLs. Currently the Master Armorer program has the requirement of helping a minimum of 5 members achieve Expert Infantry status. The member must have spent at least 30min physically helping another member with cutting, gluing, sizing, etc, just because they want to help (no money exchanged). The definition of an armorer is “a maker, supplier, or repairer of weapons or armor”. So while we certainly love the feedback that members provide to others on the forums, and the extra steps some do by having video calls to help walk people through issues with their builds, this program requires hands on work. The new program will have the same physical help requirement, but we are going to move from a “wins” system, (where a win was help an individual for 30 min or more) to a points system, and we aren’t limiting it to only Expert Infantry builds. While we are pushing the Advance to 1500 to try and achieve 1500 Expert Infantry members, we recognize that the goal of the detachment is to get FISD members build, submitted, and approved. So we will be awarding points for Basic builds as well. Currently there are 3 levels of the award, FISD Armorer, FISD Senior Armorer and FISD Master Armorer. The new program will add a 4th level at the beginning called the Apprentice Armorer. The point scale will be as follows. 5 points - Apprentice Armorer 10 points - Armorer 20 points - Senior Armorer 30 points - Master Armorer The Armorer candidate would earn points based on what level the member costume they assisted with achieved. If you help with a basic build, you get 1 point, if you help with a EIB build you get 2 points. So a person to basic you get a point, help them again to get their EIB earning another 2 to a total of 3. The thought again here is that we want to help build as many stormtroopers as possible. If you love building armorer and love helping fellow members get their costumes built, then this is the program you’ve been searching for. We look forward to awarding more members with this award as we know how much we all love Troopers helping Troopers. More information can be found here Armorer Rocker Patches Rocker patches are now available for the Armorer Program, there is currently just the one patch, and members are eligible to receive two of them once they reach Level 2, "Armorer". More information can be found here Want to setup a "Fire Team? the Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion Stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. You can find more information here. These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Troop #20 The 501st Legion and Rebel Legion made a showing for the Kokomo Jackrabbits Star Wars Night! The Kokomo Jackrabbits is a baseball team composed of baseball players from different colleges and universities who want to continue their sport during summer vacation. As Kokomo, Indiana is a smaller town, I was impressed with the large following the team has, as well as the stadium being on par with some U.S. minor league baseball stadiums. We made sure to loop around the grounds to greet attendees and keep up excitement and energy for the game. Of course, we also took some time for goofy photos: Close to the end of our troop, we were directed down to the field for a "Guess that Character" game between innings. A couple of kids were designated to guess the characters we each portrayed, and the audience could shout answers and hints. We were happy to find some of the Jackrabbits players got into the guessing game as well! It seems one player may be a Star Wars fan as he correctly guessed almost all of our characters! It was nice to see during the guessing game, and during the baseball game itself, the greater level of interaction between the audience and baseball players than would be seen at minor league and major league baseball games! It was a fun troop, but it was very hot, so we were pretty tired by the end of the troop! This troop was bittersweet for me as it was my final troop as a member of the Bloodfin Garrison. Within days, I will move to Tennessee and transfer to the Midsouth Garrison. I have been fortunate to troop so frequently with Bloodfin in the 6 months since I was approved, and I am already looking for future opportunities to visit and troop with Bloodfin again! Here's to new adventures in my new home!2 points

Troop #19 Star Wars Indiana was invited to provide an Imperial, Rebel, and Mando presence in the lead up to the annual fireworks show at a local retirement community! Troop #18 The Bloodfin Garrison was treated to another appearance of two shock troopers when both were in attendance at the Superhero 5K & Kids Dash on June 15th. I was told by other members that this is a fun event, so I signed up (despite it being a little further than I usually want to travel)! It was a laid back event, but with the local high school cheer squad, we were the main group to cheer on the runners as they began and ended the 5K race. The usual camaraderie was also present and we took the opportunity for fun photos. The fire department's ladder 421 was also present, so we naturally got photos with their truck!1 point

Troop #17 Multiple members of the Bloodfin Garrison told me about "the Joliet troop" a couple of months ago and recommended I make it there when the opportunity arises. Well, that opportunity came up, and I was able to go to Joliet with a couple other members of Bloodfin! The Joliet Public Library holds an annual Star Wars Day that includes a parade, vendors, and plentiful photo opportunities for all in attendance. This troop is one of the major gatherings of Star Wars costumes outside of some of the big cons (at least in the U.S. Midwest), so I was excited to meet other members from different 501st garrisons, as well as members of other Star Wars costuming groups. Attendance was muted this year as it rained the entire day (going from light drizzle at times to heavy rain), but there was still a great showing of many, many members of the different groups, and turned out to be the largest troop by costumed members that I have experienced in my short time in the Legion. We were fortunate that the rain mostly let up for the parade! There were a few sprinkles here and there as we lined up, marched in the parade, and got a full group photo at the end of the parade. As if by design, the rain soon picked up after the festivities moved indoors. For the parade, we staged many blocks away from the library (the changing area was in the library, so we walked to the staging area in costume), and wound our way back to the library in the parade itself. Imperials led the way, followed by Mandos, then Rebels, and the Galactic Academy following all. I didn't see from my position in the parade, but videos I have seen of the parade show us stretched out about 2 city blocks! We all then spilled into the main courtyard of the library for a group photo, and then the public were allowed on the grounds to take photos and visit the vendors inside. Here's a photo of me as we were lining up for the group photo (to the DPROs: I am not sure if I have permission to share this photo off of the forum): I found that I am not a good judge of rain when in armor, because most of the drops ended up on my armor, and very little ended up on my undersuit. The rain picked up during the outdoor photos with members of the public, but I did not notice that until water started dripping down from the brow of my helmet. The non-helmeted folks noticed the pick up in rain much sooner. Given that June is Pride month, I wanted to get some sort of Pride-related photo when at this troop. I forgot to bring a rainbow flag for photos, so I was on the lookout for a good photo opportunity, and found it in a storefront painted in rainbow colors! As the crowd taking photos outside ebbed, I saw a member of Bloodfin walk by and quickly got him to take photos of me in front of the painted rainbow. Here's the best one: With the main event complete (the parade), I wandered around the library and the nearby historical society building, because vendors were set up in both locations. Plenty more photos were taken as I was frequently stopped and asked to pose for photos. I was with Bloodfin's other shock trooper and one of Midwest Garrison's stormtroopers, so we made a good team patrolling and posing for photos! As with many members in attendance, I eventually got out of costume and made my way around the vendor tables in my racing shirt, and I made sure to attend the pizza party after the festivities had concluded. It was a great troop, and I hope to be able to attend many such events in the future!1 point

The library in Carmel, Indiana invited Star Wars Indiana to be part of their Nerdfest, which was intended to be like a pop culture convention, but much less costly and less hectic. Plenty of families were present, and many of the attendees also dressed in cosplay! Being at a library helped with the atmosphere being less hectic, but a lot of fun was had! They had a vender handing out free comics, there were plenty of arcade games, many photo opportunities, and different panels on various pop culture topics. A popular session was stage combat (with foam swords), which we made sure to keep a bit of distance from, lest we give the kids ideas of hitting us with their foam swords. As expected, much of our time was spent taking photos with the backdrop that had been set up: However, we took advantage of some of the lulls in attendees to do some exploring. Had an interesting game of chess: Fought off threats to the Empire: I also had the opportunity to give a lecture: As usual, fun was had by all, and our Imperial (and Rebel) presence was welcomed by all!1 point

Hi Bill, I believe these are the measurements: forearms: 15-16 mm biceps: 15-16 mm Shins: 20 mm (front) 25 mm (rear/calves) Thighs: 20 mm (front) 25 mm (rear) Some people may have slightly different measurements than these. If I remember properly, these measurements were taken from the RS armor. Contact Troopermaster, he is also another solid source for this if you want to confirm these measurements. I did 15 mm on all the arm parts but I think the widths are flexible to some degree. For the legs I stuck with the 20 and 25 mm widths. Good luck!1 point
