I’ve been printing a lot while out of state for a work contract, I’ve updated the first post, organized and put the current status of Armor parts. I’ve continually tweaked my print settings and I’m happy with how it’s looking, I’m still not so sure about the helmet since I have to split parts and I am worried about them lining up for the glue up, particularly warping depending on print orientation. Current finishing plan is to pretty closely follow @OddViking327’s video on finishing 3D prints. YouTube- Finishing 3D prints - Filling and sanding print lines for props One step I’m changing though is to start with a coat or two of UV resin for the initial fill and make a barrier between the ABS and Bondo/Acetone slurry. I’m not sure it would effect the ABS as it looks like it dries super fast but I am playing safe, and also hoping that UV resin will add to the armors lifetime durability. Raw print The UV resin I’m brushing on. One cured coat 2 cured coats One caution I’m running into is that the way I had it sitting with sloped edges pointing downwards, it’s nearly imperceptible while I’m working but the resin wanted to pool near edges. After curing it you can see and feel a raised bump around the edge. Something to be careful of, likely easily sanded flat again but it’s something. You can see it better when the UV flashlight is on it like in this picture. darker edge means it’s thicker1 point

Thank you so much! I did some testing on a piece of plastic and found I liked the look of scoring a with a dremel and filling with gold leaf rub-n-buff. I was thinking I would just use the rub-n-buff paint to paint the larger replacement bits, but perhaps leaf would be better... I will give that a try on my test sheet.1 point

NEW Detachment Leader Merchandise Officer Hall of Fame FISD Meme's Around the Detachment Vader's Valkyries INFORMATION & AWARD PROGRAMS FISD Tri-Fold Brochure Common FISD Acronyms and TK Glossary Pre Approval Forum 3D Section Field Exercise Award Imperial Attaché Program Master Armorer Award Fire Teams EIB & Centurion: What do these terms mean? Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advance to 1500 Advanced Tactics Awards Newsletter Editor Staff List 2023 Follow FISD Greetings troopers, Another month in the books. This one has been a bit chaotic for me with Darth Life rearing their unwanted head. Though on the plus side I did finally make the first cuts on my TLJ build. With all the recent work on CRLs for Captain Enoch and the Imperial Commando, we noticed that the old CRL header did not really make sense anymore. This month with some help from the Legion Membership Office (LMO) we updated the header which means we updated all our CRLs! This also meant we updated all of the original trilogy kit based CRLs to add back some items removed from the header. The key points to note: Standards have not changed. The header is now more generic and suited to all of our CRLs. With the rise of modern suits we have clarified what is not acceptable as a build material, and that all 3D printed items must be smooth and not show visible print lines. Only Original Trilogy suits will show the rules about Rubies and FX armour. Please do make sure you check out the updates and if you have any questions please let us know. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Another key milestone this month is the reveal of the new Valkyries logo. We had a lot of great input and the quality of the entries was high. The final design is a great representation of the ladies of our detachment and something I look forward to seeing more of, and more of you who it represents. Make sure you read on to see the design if you've not yet seen it. With the summer now upon us for the majority of us, troop counts will be peaking. Make sure you get out and enjoy your armour at least once. Though remember to look after your self and keep hydrated. A stormtrooper might be the coolest thing in the legion but it won't stop you passing out in the heat if you do not look after your self. Imperial Attaché patch Imperial Attaché Rocker Imperial Attaché Outstanding Achievement Award With Unquestioned Loyalty Jonatan Östling TK-23592 "Nairy" Attaché Ambassador Master Armorer Program - 2024 Relaunch FISD has many wonderful programs to help members build and submit costumes for our detachment, whether it be a classic Stormtrooper, a First Order Stormtrooper, or even one of the new Imperial Armored Commandos. While our Expect Infantry and Centurion programs get most of the attention, FISD staff wants to relaunch the Armorer Program (Currently called the Master Armorer Program). What is the Armorer Program you ask? Well, it is a program designed to recognize those troopers that go above and beyond to assist themselves and others in getting costumes built, submitted, and approved. One of the goals of all the detachments in the 501st Legion is to help members build and submit costumes that meet and hopefully exceed the minimum requirements of the Legion’s CRLs. Currently the Master Armorer program has the requirement of helping a minimum of 5 members achieve Expert Infantry status. The member must have spent at least 30min physically helping another member with cutting, gluing, sizing, etc, just because they want to help (no money exchanged). The definition of an armorer is “a maker, supplier, or repairer of weapons or armor”. So while we certainly love the feedback that members provide to others on the forums, and the extra steps some do by having video calls to help walk people through issues with their builds, this program requires hands on work. The new program will have the same physical help requirement, but we are going to move from a “wins” system, (where a win was help an individual for 30 min or more) to a points system, and we aren’t limiting it to only Expert Infantry builds. While we are pushing the Advance to 1500 to try and achieve 1500 Expert Infantry members, we recognize that the goal of the detachment is to get FISD members build, submitted, and approved. So we will be awarding points for Basic builds as well. Currently there are 3 levels of the award, FISD Armorer, FISD Senior Armorer and FISD Master Armorer. The new program will add a 4th level at the beginning called the Apprentice Armorer. The point scale will be as follows. 5 points - Apprentice Armorer 10 points - Armorer 20 points - Senior Armorer 30 points - Master Armorer The Armorer candidate would earn points based on what level the member costume they assisted with achieved. If you help with a basic build, you get 1 point, if you help with a EIB build you get 2 points. So a person to basic you get a point, help them again to get their EIB earning another 2 to a total of 3. The thought again here is that we want to help build as many stormtroopers as possible. If you love building armorer and love helping fellow members get their costumes built, then this is the program you’ve been searching for. We look forward to awarding more members with this award as we know how much we all love Troopers helping Troopers. More information can be found here Armorer Rocker Patches Rocker patches are now available for the Armorer Program, there is currently just the one patch, and members are eligible to receive two of them once they reach Level 2, "Armorer". More information can be found here Want to setup a "Fire Team? the Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion Stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. You can find more information here. Let's all give a warm FISD welcome to our 77th Fire Team: Name: Imperial Marines Region: Southern California Garrison Logo: To Follow For those interested here is the original discussion on the creation of Fire teams here With Unquestioned Loyalty Mark Ryner TK-4584 "captsafe66" Fire Team Relations So what exactly are and levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Keep in mind that no question is too small, and that your queries will only be seen by the D.O. Staff. [72] 15.06.2024 -- Charity-Event „Team-Doppelpass“ Nortorf On one of my very few free days in June I had the pleasure of supporting the "Team Doppelpass" event in Nortorf. It's a soccer tournament with local clubs, where they raise money for every goal shot, as well as taking separate donations -- this year of up to 10000€. We were there simply for the fun of it. People could take pictures with us, or simply enjoy our presence. The real heroes of the event were all the players on the field, playing some spectacular games and raising the money. It was a really rainy and pretty chilly day. I had been sick the week before and trooping that day set me back in my recovery, but I'm certain that it was well worth it. One of our troopers had his 100th troop, for two others it was their very first. Definitely a special day. And not only that, but the event raised a total of 43,114.30€ for children's cancer, which is incredible! [73] 22.06.2024 -- Supporting the Family Support of our military at the Kieler Woche, Kiel For those of you who don't know, the Kieler Woche is the world's largest sailing event. It's a week-long street festival all over the city with vendors, games, more vendors and of course some sailing. Honestly, trooping that event had been one of my biggest goals since I first joined and this year I had the honor of making that dream come to life! Our non-501st (but still Trooper!) contact at the military managed to snag this event for us, by promising that we'd support the family support center of our military that day. In return for posing for pictures with kids and adults, we'd show presence in the heart of the military area of the Kieler Woche. For us that meant walking around, visiting tanks, planes and ships, sometimes getting an exclusive behind the scenes tour, talking to the visitors to encourage them to take a look at what the family support does, and taking lots and lots of pictures. People there loved us! We barely could move most of the time. Since it was a rather hot day, we spent every free minute in the shade and drinking water or iced tea that we were supplied with. And not only that, we got everything from classic military food to ice cream -- and a small birthday present for me since it had been my 21st birthday a day prior. Everyone had lots of fun and I'd gladly troop this event again next year! TK-66744 signing off1 point
