So I saw a video of some Stormtroopers telling Star Wars "dad jokes" and puns, and I think this would be a amazing thing to say to children and such at troops! Do others do this? If so what are some of your favorites to say? The favorite one I saw in the video was: "Why did the Jedi cross the road?" "To get to the darkside"1 point

That would be a question for your GML as he/she/they/them look after base legion approval, for higher levels the @Deployment Officer Team may chime in, but it would be hard to comment on something that they can't see, a test piece may be a good option to move forward. I guess it all comes down to the finish and how much work would go into making these pieces. Problem I find with painting anything that may have some flex is cracking of the paint, I also wonder how it would look if damaged, scratched or chipped. Love to see a test piece.1 point

Hello there, and welcome, Gary! Always a pleasure to see another TK in the works! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out, or post here on the forum. Welcome aboard Randy, good to hear you are doing your research, yes it can be overwhelming at first. If you can get to see members from your local garrison it can be a big help, getting hands on help or just a conversation can get you moving along. Looking forward to seeing a build from you soon. This thread may also be of help1 point

I am also from Riverside, now living in West Michigan (Wyoming, MI). I am gathering my armor after learning what I can from the forums. It's overwhelming at first but I hope it will get easier once I meet more people from the 501st.1 point

not a lot of progress as the wife has not been feeling the best and when she was we got her suited up in her Mara Jade and trooped. But I put epoxy on the helmet I printed and I'm going to work on it until the resin commission gets here. If it works for her, great, I'll keep the resin one for my kit (when ever Walt finishes it), if not we'll swap.1 point

Ooh I might use this one today. My normal go to for hospital troops is: “What do you call Chewbacca when he gets chocolate stuck in his fur?” ”A chocolate chip Wookiee.”1 point

NEW Detachment Leader Executive Officer Provost Marshall Deployment Office Merchandise Officer Hall of Fame FISD Meme's Vader's Valkyries INFORMATION & AWARD PROGRAMS FISD Tri-Fold Brochure Common FISD Acronyms and TK Glossary Pre Approval Forum 3D Section Field Exercise Award Imperial Attaché Program Master Armorer Award Fire Teams EIB & Centurion: What do these terms mean? Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advance to 1500 Advanced Tactics Awards Social Media Newsletter Editor Staff List 2023 Follow FISD Greetings troopers, Another busy month behind us. I hope you had a good May 4th weekend and were out representing the detachment with pride. I saw a few sales happening from the various vendors so if you managed to pick up a deal make sure to show us your progress here on the forum. This month has seen significant progress on 2 CRLs with both Imperial Armored Commando and Captain Enoch closing in on a chance for a new First in Legion Kudos. CRLs are a community effort, and all are welcome to come and join in on creating them. Even a spelling check is welcome and given who's writing them I am sure there will be a few! Over the years FISD has built up a number of incentive programs to help motivate and reward those who go the extra mile. Some have been very successful, the EIB and centurion programs, the attachés who represent us to their local garrisons, and emerging the Valkyries who represent our female and female presenting members. Others have not had the impact hoped, and either need a bit of a rework or some more promotion. The staff have been looking at revamping one of these, and hopefully will be in a position to announce some of this soon. I would also like to draw your attention to the 3D Contributor Program. There is no denying that 3D modelling and printing has completely changed the costuming world. From simple small parts all the way to complete weapons and costumes. Here are FISD we are no different and already a have a lot of parts available for members to download and print themselves. If you have something you have designed and are willing to contribute to other members then maybe an award will be coming your way. And finally the new 2024 racing shirt run is now live. These runs are not a small amount of work for the DMBO, or anyone who helps with them. This was compounded this year as we needed to request permission from every single unit commander to be able to use their logos on the sleeve, not a small task. Please join me in thanking the team for the huge amount of work they put in to make these runs happen. With Unquestioned Loyalty Chris Pearson TK-10991 "themaninthesuitcase" Detachment Leader Greetings fellow members, As you may have noticed, we are working on the Imperial Armoured Commando CRL. I would like to welcome all eagle eyes, to come visit the thread, take a look at where we are at with it, offer advice and input to help us bring it to fruition. We have most of the written part down, but it requires refinement and more eyes across it. We have the photos ready to go and are closing in on presenting a finished product to the LMO team. Come check it out, and feel free to chime in and offer what you have. With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK-11469 "Sly11" Executive Officer Greetings Heroes of the Empire! Merch update time! Old Business After a lot of back and forth, changes and disagreements with the manufacturer, the coins have been finished. The latest issue was that over 200 of them failed QC inspection, so they had to be remade. The manufacturer told Pfab that they would be shipping to him by end April, so early May distribution is the current target. Hopefully they will reach you before the newsletter day. The combined SpecOps and FISD MBOs wish to express our greatest apologize for this delay. It is unfortunately out of our hands. We only hope the end product is worth the wait that we've all endured. Any further developments will be posted in the sales thread, found here: Secret Merch Item Banner patches are complete as of 24 April 2024. They are in QC now and will hopefully be shipping to Pfab for distribution by the end of the month. I will post any updates in the sales thread listed below. Stormtrooper Banner Patch The Rocker run was in production as of the middle of April. Hopefully these will start arriving to members that ordered before this newsletter is published. Any additional updates will be posted by @MaskedVengeance in the sales thread (below). Rocker patches. The First FISD "Standard Logo Item" poll for the T-shirt/Hoodie is closed. You can find the conversation and results in the link below. Staff will now take the results and either create a run or a new poll to further drill down into the wants of the detachment. FISD Branding Item Poll FISD OT and FO vinyl stickers are available again from Assassin Graphics. New Business The Terrell Reber Memorial patch run is open. This run is open to all members of the Legion in good standing. If you are interested in ordering one of these patches check out the sales thread below. Terrell Reber Memorial Patch And last but not least, the one everyone has been asking for over the past 2 years. The 2024 FISD Racing Shirt (OT Version) LMBO set us back by not allowing us to run the First Order version of this shirt as a variant. We did open a poll for 3 weeks (closed on 10 May 2024) in hopes that the interest level for the shirt would justify the use of an additional merchandise slot. Unfortunately, that was not the case. We do have the artwork for it complete, and if before the end of the year priorities changes and we want to attempt to do the FO racing shirt run we can, but at this point, we will be going with the OT only version. The run thread opened on May 1st and will close May 29th. You can find more information about this run here. 2024 Racing Shirt Run If you have any thoughts, suggestions, comments or concerns about FISD Merch or Branding, my "virtual" door is always open. This is open for all FISD members! We're looking for artwork that represents our fierce Valkyries and can be used as merch in the future. I'm sure some of you already have ideas and we on staff would love to see them all! Contest rules: We will collect ideas in this thread until June 2nd. Please make sure that all the artwork doesn't contain any official Legion or LFL IP's. After that, your detachment staff will choose the winner. With Unquestioned Loyalty Jonatan Östling TK-23592 "Nairy" Attaché Ambassador The FISD Master Armorer program is an optional, detachment only incentive award to recognize individuals who have directly helped another 501st stormtrooper to achieve Expert Infantry status. Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. To register a “win” in the program, the assistance must have provided hands-on help trimming, building, and/or fitting of said armor for the person who was awarded Expert Infantry status. More information can be found here Want to setup a "Fire Team? the Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion Stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. You can find more information here. These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Keep in mind that no question is too small, and that your queries will only be seen by the D.O. Staff. I know I'm late but it might help some others. Here are some input from me: 1. Why do Jedi always burn their pancakes? Force of habit. 2. Where do Wookiees eat? Chew-baccafe. 3. Why was Yoda afraid of 7? Because 6, 7, 8. 4. What’s a droid’s favorite style of music? Techno. 5. What do you call a Sith who won't fight? A Sithy. A tip: If you want to create more of these, you can use this "Pun Generator."1 point

I guess I can understand that. But I was thinking for the kids that maybe have trouble warming up to us that this might be a way to show them we aren't scary, we are human. Something to lighten the mood depending on the event being trooped at. I said this same joke at a troop today to different people and kids and event their parents got a kick out of it. I don't see the harm in a little fun every once and a while1 point

Well this newbie-newbie is happy that he no longer has to sift through piles of acronyms that mean near to nothing. I spent a few months just trying to figure the places to not go (very clear on that btw) but never really gave a breakdown of where and how to go about doing this stuff. It does warm my heart to not see 'well, newbie, go find it out for yourself' has lessened. When I first hopped on and browsed around, figuring stuff out, I got a lot of go to link X but it had already expired and there were no more repeats of that vital information.1 point
