  1. The voting phase of legion Elections starts today in approximately 2 hour 20 minutes from the time of this post As you may be aware, the main Legion forum has been having difficulties sending out email blasts to all the members, due to rate limiting. So they have asked all the various units to step up and make sure important Legion news gets broadcast to all members. Though there are no elections here at FISD, the LCO office as well as other units do have elections that require your vote! Please check your local Garrison, Legion or other Detachment forums forum to check the Q&As and evaluate your candidates so you can make an informed choice. The main Legion election information, including LCO Q&A and opening and closing statements, maybe be found on the main forum. https://www.501st.com/elections/ Remember: this is your Legion! So don't just stand there.... VOTE!

  2. That gap will be reduced as you do further fitting for the biceps. Ideally, those raised portions will be cut down to just wide enough to fit under the cover strip (any extra amount beyond that depends on the size of your bicep), so the ridges on those raised portions should be slightly beyond the edge of your cover strips. I had to go a couple of milimeters beyond due to the size of my biceps. You should end up with something like this immediately after gluing (I cut my cover strips longer than needed, so I trimmed off the excess once I was happy with how it all came together): Yes, as parallel as you can keep them.

  3. The right thigh piece has turned out great! The material on the seam for the back part of the thigh piece (that is used for the overlap) was wide enough to glue on the front half, despite the 1cm channel being accommodated. The 1cm channel is clearly seen in both photos, and as discussed earlier in the thread, that will be filled in with an ABS shim on each side and accompanying ABS paste to cover over the rear seam created by the shim. The fit is great too! I have a little bit of wiggle room, but the thigh armor does not appear to be unrealistically large for me! I especially like the built-in relief in the back of the thigh piece, as I feel I can move my leg more freely than when wearing my shock trooper, even with the relief cuts on my shock trooper (but I'll reserve full judgement until my full Legacy is complete). The left thigh piece is currently gluing, and that will be cured in a little less than 24 hours! This certainly boosts my confidence in my build from where I was earlier today! I should remember than builds can feel like a roller coaster at times.

  4. I'm not Glen, but I'll still chime in 1. I've got the system ob both sides. It simply keeps the line-up straight -- both horizontal and vertical. If you only need it on one side, that works too. 2. Depends on your body. If you need longer straps for a symmetrical look, if you need shorter straps to ensure everything stays in place... 3. It doesn't prevent overlap. In fact, I specifically built it like this to allow for overlap. By moving the interlocking parts on both sides closer to the edge, you'll have a system that avoids any and all overlap. The Overlap will only ever be possible for the part before the interlocking system: See how the armor side with the tabs hits the armor side with the openings? If I had placed those openings directly at the edge of the armor part it would have stopped right at the edge of my armor, creating a neat line for the ab-kidney connection. Hope this helps!

  5. I trimmed away the excess plastic, and got to work on one of the biceps. Test fitting them shows quite a misalignment on one side. Seems like I would have to trim back a lot for it to line up: Because I haven’t gotten over my fear of overcutting the plastic, I trimmed out the round edges quite conservatively, and plan to sand and trim more as I go: A few questions here. I tried a loose fitting on my arm, and I notice quite a gap between my arm and the outer bicep half on the top side: Is it supposed to be that way? Related to this, there are raised ridges near where the bicep halves come together, am I meant to keep them parallel (brackets in red the same size)?

  6. I'm definitely guily of having pencil marks all over my scrap pieces! Looks like washing the scrap pieces will be incorporated into my process before adding the acetone. I appreciate all the advice! I need it!

  7. Looking good Brian, one thing when you glue your fillers is to try to keep the joins flat and as little a gap as possible, this will make using the ABS paste a lot easier, the less you have to apply the better the finish will be. Also in case I've not said it before, thin coats, allow to dry before adding another coat, if you add too thick you can get a lot of tiny air bubbles when it's drying which makes sanding and polishing a bit of a pain. Also if using scraps try to make sure there are no pen/pencil/marker marks on them as they can discolor the paste which makes life a little more difficult as you would have to try and paint to match. I'ts not impossible, I used waterbased arcylics on my TFU TK to get my U trim to match.

  9. You really need it at the top of your ab plate, note on the side the angle of the abdomen compared to the kindey plate, hopefully with foam the sides will no longer be on an angle

  10. Wow, I had no idea you could do that! I worked with acetone quite a bit in my last job. I am embarrassed to admit that I think it smells kinda good, haha. Could explain my behavior

  11. 2024-02-03, BrickFest LIVE Loveland 2024 - Day 1 & 2 Got some great outreach done working the table & costuming this weekend. Many many attendees, great questions and lots of very interested individuals that I hope will join our ranks. Day 2 One of the highlights was this little boy whose dad said they saw us, but I left to go on break before they could get to us to take a pic. In the last 20 min of the day they happened to make their way back in time to get to meet the trooper in White Armor. His dad was as happy as he was.

  12. Well well, lookie here. After doing some research and finding an old thread on the MEPD, this looks familiar! The BF2 pack appears to be the same as the ANH SE Sandtrooper pack in some shots. An interesting development…
