  2. I got the joy of paying $12.60 for US shipping of a few coins today from EF. I ship stuff for a living and could send roughly 5 kilos of coins in country for that postage... so yeah.

  8. The thigh armor is coming along well! I have decided to keep the return edges at 5mm on the top edge of the thigh armor, as well as 5mm around much of the bottom edge, with the exception of a little bit extra for the area behind the knee armor (about 1cm in line with the front ridge on the thigh armor). This looked best aesthetically, but I have the benefit that I can cut this area down to 5mm if need be. After measuring and fitting a number of times, I determined the circumference of the thigh armor pieces should be increased by 2cm (this was rounded up by a few milimeters to give me some wiggle room). As such, there will be 1cm shims on each side of the thigh armor. As this creates 2 seams on each side, one seam on each side will be covered with ABS paste and sanded smooth. All edges I have cut will be sanded smooth once the pieces are glued together This increase in circumference is enough to allow my knees to fit through the bottom of the thigh armor, especially given the 5mm return edges at the bottom of the thigh pieces. My fitting also showed me that I can move my legs freely when wearing the thighs, so I have not concerns right now about my ability to walk in the armor! To make sure each side is aligned properly, I am gluing one seam of each thigh piece at any time, so this will take a few days before everything is glued. I'm happily chugging along here. It is nice to be building at a more relaxed pace than my previous builds!

  13. Greetings fellow members, It is my pleasure to announce the two newest recipients of our Imperial AttachƩ Outstanding Achievement Award. 16. Thanks Gerald. Sadly itā€™s not E6000. And for a commission build it makes sense to have something more permanent since theyā€™re pros. And, because theyā€™re pros, why would you normally want to adjust it? [emoji846] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. That's exactly what I would do and suggest. Btw, nice looking Hero armor . remains me Luke in armor.

  22. It looks pretty good to be honest and with the adjustments you are planning, it will look great. If they used E6000 to assemble it, it shouldnā€™t be too hard to fix the leg and arm pieces. If they used CA glue, it could be a bit tougher.

  23. I donā€™t think it looks ridiculous. Iā€™ve seen many troopers with this kind of shape. And I think I could pull off the look with elbow pads beneath my undersuit to round out the look. But I would rather slim it down to fit me better. My current plan is to slice off the rear cover strips and the meat underneath, close up the gaps and reapply the cover strips. While this will result in double-thickness strips, theyā€™re currently the same thickness as the rest of the armour so I think I can get away with it. My WTF strips are thicker ā€“ unvacformed and unstretched. And Iā€™m happy with the look of those.

  25. As I posted in the FISD Facebook group this week, I had the amazing good fortune to have a very generous friend whoā€™s donated his brand-new, worn-once, RS full commission Hero build so long as it goes to making sick kids happy. Well, as soon as I can get it approved itā€™s going to do just that. Hereā€™s the thing: Vertically, itā€™s perfect. Where it was a tiny bit long for him, itā€™s spot on for me. But heā€™s more buff and I'm more skinny. So, horizontally, itā€™s not ideal! RS Hero armour with Luke-style chest plate. If you look at my elbows you can see how oversized it is. For comparison: (L) Existing WTF Stunt trimmed to be very form-fitting; (R) New RS Hero

  28. I tip that helped me, you can use a toothpick to clean up the lines or the edges of the teeth. Works even better if you dip the toothpick in Mineral spirits before you "scratch" any mistakes off.

  29. It definitely looks better. Bondo filler puddy is a lifesaver for repairing 3d print lines. I'm still not ready to paint. More sanding is needed but it's getting dark. I just wanted to highlight that you can fix almost any mistake with a little filler puddy.

  30. Well, the temperature in my garage is in the 50ā€™s (Fahrenheit), and will be for quite some time. I need to have it at about 70 so the Testors primer will perform properly. So unless I build a small temperature-controlled enclosure (which is somewhat of a possibility), Iā€™m going to put painting the TD aside, and move on to the biceps. Iā€™ve watched the PandaProps vids on YouTube: Anywhere else I should be looking in this forum? Any caveats with matching up the outside halves with the inside halves? Which side is the one with the thumbprint, left, or right?

  33. I was talking with Sheev's Emporium about soft goods, and he mentioned that the backside of the Kama is a bit different than the front on the Hot Toys figure. I snagged a screenshot from an Episode and had to brighten it quite a bit, but appears confirmed. Anyway, an interesting addition to the soft goods I thought.

  37. Way to go Joseph! As you know being a DL is a marathon, not a race, and you've been training for this for years. I'm sure you'll be a stellar, amazing, and highly effective leader for this detachment. The fact that you ran unopposed is a testament to your dedication, and the positive relationships you've built throughout the years. Your contributions to FISD are noteworthy and of singular accomplishment. I can't wait to see what you do next. Seems like I'll need to go to FL for a staff breakfast in 2024!

  41. Just when you think you've seen everything, down another rabbit hole, here's an odd E-11, this Hero "Live" version has a missing T-track on the right side of the barrel and added T-track pieces to the left side around the lug. Does appear there is missing paint on the right side were the T-track would have been glued. I could imagine this mod may have been carried out so when it was fired it would expel barrel flash on the outside of the wearer (if holding right handed) but who knows. T-tracks and grip also have some weathering, these had been known as plastic so shouldn't of had any weathering. Comes with a letter of authenticity. Description Imperial Stormtrooper Hero E-11 Blaster from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope with Signed LOA from Producer Gary Kurtz (TCF, 1977). This screen used blaster is one of the "live" weapons used during the filming of Star Wars. Bapty & Co., the legendary British movie weapon makers/suppliers, based this weapon on a British Sterling submachine gun which was dressed for the studio. Loaded with blank ammunition during filming, it produced realistic smoke and recoil effects when fired, making the actors look as though they were actually firing laser bolts. Included with the Blaster is a signed LOA from Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz stating (in part): "This is to confirm that the Stormtrooper blaster prop you have purchased is from my film archive. This was one of the 'live' weapons used during filming of Star Wars. Once filming had finished the guns were returned to the weapons hire company which had loaned them to the production. All extraneous parts and dressings added for the filming were removed and the guns went back into the company's armoury. This gun is the original Sterling sub machine gun used in Star Wars, and the additional dressing (sight, grips, cut down cartridge casing, etc.) are also all original film used pieces. The only replacement piece is the metal bracket holding the scope to the body of the gun. This gun has been deactivated and restored to its original screen used condition as seen in Star Wars. This Stormtrooper Sterling machine gun is one of those guns (now deactivated to conform to British firearms regulations), bought back by the Kurtz / Joiner archive in 2003..." Measures 19.5 in. long. Exhibits production use with scuffing to black paint with some oxidation to exposed metal parts. Comes with the original deactivation certificate issued to Bapty when the weapon was rendered non-firing. Provenance: Profiles in History Hollywood Auction 22, July 29, 2005, Lot 171.5 Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. Auction link I had thought this could possibly be the actual blaster as you can see light on the right side of the barrel so it appears to be missing a T-track BUT it has a different scope (lug on right side of scope) A small amount of barrel light here too so appears this blaster is also missing a T-track If anyone does have any images of this "Live" version blaster please do share them. 46 years on and we are still finding details.

  42. Here's another "Live" version, this one with missing T-track on the right and no additional T-track on the left side, no lug either, this would probably explain light coming through. No T-Track weathering This one does have the scope lug No OFF on magazine end plate Description Original screen used hero E-11 Stormtrooper Blaster from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. (TCF, 1977) The E-11 blaster is the standard weapon of the Imperial Stormtroopers due to its compact design and formidable firepower. Following the weapon's use in Star Wars, Bapty removed the studio dressing t-shaped polymer "vent fins" spanning the length of the barrel as well as the scope and scope rail. A vintage replacement scope was fitted with a replicated rail and vent fins returning the weapon to its screen appearance. Measures 19.5 in. long. Comes with the original deactivation certificate issued to Bapty when the weapon was rendered non-firing. A rare piece of original Star Wars screen used weaponry. SOLD ON JUN 29, 2016 FOR: $28,800.00
