Greetings fellow members, It is my pleasure to announce the two newest recipients of our Imperial Attaché Outstanding Achievement Award. This honor is bestowed on Attachés who go above and beyond the call of duty in their role as an Imperial Attaché, and both of these troopers have consistently exemplified the qualities warranting recognition. Arthur @giskard8 - TK39093, Hong Kong Garrison A seasoned veteran of the Detachment, when Arthur is not trooping he can be found welcoming new members to the forum and congratulating our new and higher level approvals. His actions contribute to the long tradition of FISD being the friendliest forum in the Legion, and no doubt Arthur will continue to consistently be at his Attaché post! Today we salute your unquestioned loyalty, Arthur! Gerald @Doggydoc - TK96004, Canadian Garrison It's nearly impossible to sneak in a new member introduction or special approval post without Gerald jumping in and welcoming the aspiring builder or joining the celebration of the new approval. He is also known to provide valuable input and helpful feedback throughout the forum. Today we salute your unquestioned loyalty, Gerald! Please join me in congratulating these two troopers!7 points

As a professor of communication, many of my lectures include memes as examples. Sometimes there are more memes than actual text, and sometimes the lectures are just memes!3 points

For some unfathomable reason, it's been suggested that I have an addiction. To clarify: I do not. Probably. Maybe. As January is ending, I want to thank you all for participating in the second annual meme war! Even though we had fewer memes than last year I had a lot of fun and want to congratulate all who made it through, who shared memes and who made this another fantastic, fabulous and fun January! And for old time's sake, here's a tiny throwback to last year's meme war: And even though I hope we can continue this tradition of having a meme war during Meme-uary (too much? Sorry...) please don't forget that you can and should meme all year round. It's been a pleasure, troopers, please continue being amazing!3 points

Thank you so much! I'm thinking my first kit might actually be a TIE Pilot from Rebels, (which I know is not technically *Storm*trooper related haha), but will still be looking here for reference, tips & advice if needed! (Especially for my helmet!) And then in the future I hope to do an actual Stormtrooper as well, undecided on which version yet!2 points

My name is Josh... I'm a Star Wars-aholic... I've been with the 501st since 2022 as a Revenge of the Sith Darth Vader. I've currently got 3 costumes in various stages of completion (hence the "aholic" moniker) above... TK, Tank Trooper, and Imperial Officer. I'm finally getting the ability to put together my ANH Stunt starting in February at an armor party. I've got a second hand Walt's kit that never got beyond some very minimal initial trimming, so everything is still mostly in its untrimmed form. I've been following the WTF ANH Stunt Build thread and I've got about everything except for some of the soft parts (strapping, velcro, etc.) that I will be procuring this weekend (my daughter gets an employee discount at JoAnn's... YEAH!). I'm looking forward to another lovely costume that it's difficult to see and sit in !! ...sitting, yeah, that is what the Imperial Officer costume is for... lol!1 point

Hey how'rya?! My name is Mark and I am in North Texas. Just got my big brown box about a week ago and will be starting my build very soon. Working on ANH TK with hopes of having approval by Q2 of 2024. Just wanted to drop in and say hello to everyone.1 point

Sucess! So I've seen what an aggressive drill bit or hole saw can do to a 3D-printed part. Because of that, I'll be using a diamond-coated Hole saw that I use to cut glass and ceramic tile. with a little water, It worked great. to These hole saws do not have a pilot bit to keep it steady so I built up layers of electrical tape to hold it steady. then off to the sink to slowly drill the stock, starting in reverse to help the bit make a groove it'll ride in. Next, I use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry out the center circle and the inner Lattace of the print. Once that was done I drilled a hole out to run the wire from the stock to the handle. Using my dremel and sanding bit to smooth the edges out and Voila! I'll cover it later after all of the prep work is done with a piece of black mesh that we all use for our TK buckets.1 point

Hey Matt, you bet ya. We know that there were officially between 17 and 20 Rogue One sets of armour detailed for the live actions stuff. These were duplicated out in digital copies copy and paste style, in fact they didn't hide that they pasted in several instances the same trooper next to each other. Screenshots show this in the gallery. The idea for this CRL will be to chose if you wish what parts you paint grey based on what is seen on screen, plenty of variations there, and to then create your cracking weathering and Gold elements. This will become the first CRL to have a good level of variety available to be creative with. We have a source who worked on set where we got info on the number of R1 suits modified, plus the info from Costume department on fabrics what they actually did to the armour, but no one has mentioned anything about OT armour being used. Accounting for most of the R1 costumes now, based off the numbers we were given, and the information extolled, they were complete R1 assets. They actually Dremeld those kits to create a lot of the cracking, so they are now damaged in that respect forever you could say. They were able to do that easily because of the thickness of the parts and Urethane material R1 kits are made of. Unless there is solid proof of OTTK components, the CRL should be based on R1 armour only. That is not to say if down the track we get that solid evidence, and it can be publicly shown and seen on screen, that allowances can't be factored into the CRL.1 point

Unit GMLs will still be able to approve costumes on current members, though. This is an important distinction. Per the OP, members have until the start of voting to reconcile their Detachment roster affiliation. Please be reminded that a valid costume AND an active detachment-members-only forum account are required to participate in Legion Detachment elections. Please contact your respective Detachment Leaders for any issues with your membership (prior to elections), and do not wait until last minute.1 point
-
This still happens before census every year. If a member hasn't logged in, then they don't stay valid after the update.] as an affiliation to detachments. The only other intervention is the mandatory removal of retired members and the adjustment of their access to basic, which obviously removes them from voting, being they are no longer a full 501st member. If the legion Holocron for members has not been updated in the event a member has been re-approved after they come back from retirement or reserved, that is a matter for the member's GML to resolve. To add to this, Legion pre warn all leaders to make appropriate adjustments as the database gets locked down when the election cycle starts, for new costume approvals cannot occur until the election cycle is finished.1 point

Either purchase from the kit supplier or do an online search for rubber suppliers close to you, or trooperbay https://trooperbay.com/?s=brow+trim.1 point

I nuked the paint on all the buttons I thought were in rough shape and busted out the Cricut for some 11mm templates. Worked like a charm. Now to finish up rigging (have ~75% of it in place) and figure out if there is anything else that can easily be done between now and next build day (which will either be holster & belt stuff or finishing up the helmet from its partial state when I first started building ages ago).1 point

Hi Danny, Admittedly I have transferred out of Ohio Garrison to Starkiller but I am still in the Columbus area and always happy to provide any assistance as necessary with your build Josh! Danny might need to update the attache list :). I should have met you know earlier1 point

I really do appreciate all of your advice, and I'll definitely be dropping a line as I go along for more of it. I'm starting today with the biceps and will progress from there slowly but surely. I feel those will be a good point to start from working with measurements and cutting strips, etc. I am definitely excited to start the process, but there is truth to what I've been told when in comes to making that first cut...I want to throw up. haha. I'm guessing that's normal.1 point

It is highly encouraged to make a build thread as well! That way you can post updates and photos and ask for guidance and feedback whenever you need it.1 point

Build progress from last week: Trimmed the thighs but will wait to size until chest & abdomen are done (thanks @TKSpartan for the reference shots) Glued flexible handguards to rubber gloves Attempting round 2 of adhering interior cover strips to forearms I got to antsy and removed my magnets & clamps before the E6000 was fully cured so the joint separated Goals for this week (aiming small as it is recital week for my daughter, so am busy most nights through Saturday) Trim Chest & Abdomen during the week so that I can fit it over the weekend Be patient about the forearms so that I can put the exterior cover strips on over the weekend1 point
