It can be OK to arrive to a meeting a little later, but maybe not when it's held by Vader. Please welcome, TK-46712 to the Stormtrooper Hall of Fame, November 2023! @Commander Vain Troop log can be found here. Congrats Bob! I feel like a test is worth doing with the same Tear/Trap color 1138 gray matte paint. As far as I can see it looks like the traps look to match the “unpainted” gray parts of those troopers. Partially weathered but looks to me the same base.1 point

Troop 13 and 14 : Christmas troops December 16 and 17, 2023 in support of the Pattison Children's Hospital. Yet another "bonus" troop for me because it is a three hour drive with usually bad weather but we are still without any snow here and most days above freezing temperatures so away I went! I really hadn't done much in the way of planning for this one as I was sure it would be a bust for me. This will be the last troop of 2023 and we have nothing coming up now for at least a couple months, but you never know when that may change and perhaps make possible another bonus troop for me this winter. I wouldn't have guessed I'd ever manage to get into this armor 14 different times in my first year. I was expecting five at best! This one was in a busy mall and we had just about a non-stop line for photos once things got rolling. They were both half day events but the second day we ran past the time we expected to be finished because there were still so many people in line and we wanted to do our best for the charity. Everyone sucked it up and got it done. Initially I wasn't sure if I would feel okay with breaking character and outfitting myself with a candy cane blaster and Christmas lights, but the cause was worth it and we have so much fun together that in the end I didn't mind. And, it was nice not to haul around a heavy blaster all day and just swing a light candy cane instead. It also made for a great way to poke the other members in the photobooth to see if they would react. There are always stories and my best one this time was a little girl who took my hand and was trying to lead me away. I may still be lost if I hadn't had to get back to work as this was repeated five different times each time she saw me again. There was also a little guy who probably wasn't a year old yet who would not take his eyes off me in the photo area to look at the camera so I had to step out so they could get a good picture with everyone else with him looking at the camera. Usually that age they just scream when they see me! I liked this angle because it klnda looked off-worldly like and because earlier when I was standing there by myself I apparently gave one if the mall security guys a mild heart attack. He was just arriving for his shift and looked up to see a stormtrooper looking down on him. I guess he wasn't expecting that! Always fun to hang out with Obi-wan. He told me he likes interactions with me best because (most times) I play the part to entertain the people: We seem to be not to sure about that Jawa... keeping our distance just to be safe: Our mando family. The kids are in the Galactic Academy and next year dad is working on all new costumes for them: Not very often I get to troop with @wook1138 which is treat. He provided the last round of Q&A for weeks while I was determining if I was going to pull the trigger on buying the armor. Now I just need to get him in his TK armor. I would still love to have more of us in it at the same time: Usually @GilesWoodward and I are never in costume at the same time so it was nice to work the crowd together as we patrolled the area. Once again, when us TKs arrive on the scene we attract the people. We try not to let it go to our heads (at least not too much): At the end of it all this cane just was too short to be of any use to my sore back and legs after standing so much: And that is a wrap for 2023! I learned a ton this past year and not once did it ever get boring wearing that armor. Exact opposite really. I even have the dressing part mostly tweaked now that I am almost able to fully get into it without any help (mostly need a set of eyes for the final check) and the icomm mic gets sitting in the proper position finally. If I could do it all without my glasses I'd slap the hardhat headgear back in for the final comfort fit, but even if it does take me five minutes to screw on that helmet around my glasses it fits darn well when it does get on and I have very good sight lines. Just keep those kids away from the first couple feet in front and it's all good! A number of reels made by one of our members: (1) Facebook (1) Facebook (2) Facebook Bart1 point

Troop #24 - 24 November 2023 - Futures Festival - Pinewood Studios This year we were incredibly fortunate to be re-invited back to Pinewood studios for this years Futures Festival. I was only able to do one of the days this year but still a great opportunity. A little different this year, no 007 stage for changing on but the facilities we had where great. This year it was really quite cold, which on it's own was not too bad but there was also a brutally cold wind, and with no thermal layers was really felt. Thankfully some one worked out how to turn on the heating mid afternoon. Not a huge number of photos yet, as we're not allowed to use a camera outside of the changing room (it's an active film studio) and the official photos are still going through approval. However I do have this one. Brian Muir was doing a talk and after came over to visit us in the changing area. I was able to get a photo with him and his wife. If I get any more photos I'll add them in future.1 point

[61] 09.12.2023 -- Comic Con Stuttgart, Day 1 My first three-years-in-a-row troop, how exciting! This exact event had been my third troop back in 2021, I'd managed to troop it again in 2022, and now I was back for 2023. Compared to the previous two years the layout of the convention had changed -- we got our very own Star Wars area with a couple other clubs and had a truly wonderful booth with several photo points and exhibits. With the changed layout also came a plus of visitors: a plus of about 15,000 visitors for the whole weekend compared to the previous year! With the Surplus of visitors came a lack of space, so I apologize that most of my photos of Saturday were taken during the group picture of the 501st, since that was where we had the most space. Everywhere else was cramped, overcrowded, hot and stuffy, so I spent most of my day near our booth seeking out some peace and quiet that came with being away from the main hall space. Since we were so many troopers on Saturday, we got to take some awesome pictures and videos with the Witches and Thrawn after the group picture. You should definitely take a look at this video of us! All that time back there for the photos was probably my favorite time during the troop. Once the first people began leaving I even got to take a few pictures of my own, which was great. Additionally, this troop was a wonderful opportunity to meet many of my friends once more. Given that I live in the very north of Germany, it's not often that I get to see my friends in the south and I'm always glad when I get these opportunities. [62] 10.12.2023 -- Comic Con Stuttgart, Day 2 Day 2 was less busy with less visitors around, so we got to enjoy the con a bit without people constantly bumping into our armors. To that end, we started off by exploring the halls and taking pictures. This day I was joined by TK-71384 and TK-92227, turning this into an official Fireteam troop for the Chaos Division. This day it was a lot easier to run into our friends for a quick chat and a couple of pictures. Gotta love the Christmas-vibe of the picture above, right? After the 501st group picture, us TK's went to take over the gaming stage with Lord Vader. On our way there we had to be careful not to stop, because once we stood anywhere, visitors would flock towards us, asking for a picture. Fair enough, how often do you get a TK patrol with eight troopers and Lord Vader, after all? Definitely one of the highlights of the convention! Once I got out of armor in the afternoon, I got to join TK-55550 for something special. A trooper had brought along a TK-kit and we were going to build it live at the convention -- well, at least do some trimming that is, for a full build we'd have needed more helping hands, tools, and time. Definitely a fun and special way to end the convention before traveling at least part-way home, completing the last few hours of travel the next day. Thanks for letting me join you, Danny! "I cut and glued in some wood supports for a more solid mounting points on the pack". Excellent idea! Another idea I used was to cut out the entire circular area. This served 2 purposes- It allowed me access to the interior to better secure some of the attachments with short drywall screws (including the side tube), and it allows the OII plate to sit nestled inside the rear of the pack so it doesn't make the pack sit too far out away from the armor. I lined the entire rear exterior with 1/8" thick black craft foam (EVA), which can be pressed into the circular opening and prevents the pack from scratching your armor.1 point

Hi all, Firstly, I’d like to say that Low and higher brow heights are perfectly acceptable and all members are welcome in the legion. I would just highlight that some appear to reflect Stunt or Hero/Promo troopers. The intention of this post is to share educational reference photos with new and aspiring troopers. Based on watching ANH, viewing the many reference photos and additions behind the scenes and historic photos, there is a clear direction regarding various brow heights in ANH. In the spirit of the CRL, this guide would help improve uniformity across the legion. For those that favour a low brow, I would highly recommend checking out the Hero* or Promo Trooper as an ideal option. *please note that not all Hero helmets had a low brow. Below is the Promo Trooper. This features a hero helmet (this is different to the Stunt helmet) and is an iconic look, featuring a low brow (brow trim essentially ‘on’ the top of the eye sockets). There is essentially zero gap between the bubble lenses and the brow trim. There were just six hero helmets made for ANH, made in gloss ABS, intended for close up shots; Luke has a very similar look; Han, on the other hand, had a clear gap (seen here left of shot) 50 Stunt helmets were made for ANH. These were made from green HDPE plastic, then primed and painted. The majority of TKs seen in action and group shots in ANH were Stunt helmets and had a visibly different appearance, including a longer painted ‘frown’ with (for the most part) 4 ‘teeth’ either side, 3 screws per ear rather than 2, flat lenses rather than bubble and (for the majority seen on screen) had a consistent gap between the top of the eyes and the brow. First up is a photo taken outside Shepperton Design Studios and shows approximately half of the 50 Stunt helmets primed and ready to send to the studio. The brow height is consistent across these helmets, each having a clear gap between the eyes and the brow. Note below that perhaps 2 or 3 of 26 helmets have a slightly lower brow. On to screen used, there are a few lower brow stunts featured through ANH, however they are certainly outnumbered by the conventional look. Note the same scenario from ESB (re-using ANH Stunt helmets for the most part); Even quite a few Hero helmets, including Han’s, had the usual gap. I hope that these reference photos help to show the difference with various helmets. This post, and the information included, comes from a passion for the wonderful character that is the Stormtrooper and is not intended as a negative view on those that choose the low brow. Both have their place in our character lineup. I would simply suggest considering the hero or Promo Trooper as an option for those that prefer the low brow. Best wishes Dan NB - credit to StarWarsHelmets.com for a lot of this information. I’ve learned a lot from there over the last couple of years.1 point
