  1. Of course a few of us chimed up and had to set people right... er, left! I think Bender and his wife recently had their Narkina prisoners approved and were just understandably hyped to wear them, plus you can't beat the comfort. Thanks, I found it interesting anyways - we have a great crew of TKs out in SoCal!

  2. Big news! My BBB should be here tomorrow. Per Walt's instruction, I ordered a Ton of Devcon to help with the assembly. From the pictures I have seen of the kit, Walt made some interesting choices with how he decided to create his molds, but I will make it work. I love that the Rebels TK has the "lines" built into them, but the shin molds appear to have been pulled to create a front and back, instead of a side to side like the Live action TK. so this will most likely require filling and painting and all that. I may end up separating the back into 2 parts, then attach both to the front, and have the opening at the back of the shin. But all this will just depend and decisions will be made once the kit is in hand. This is a very difficult build in the fact that there are only 5 in the entire legion that have them approved. Will surely have questions and want to get the advice or opinion of this detachment along the way and am very excited to have a costume that not many have, or have seen. Stay tuned!

  3. Glad you asked. I've been working on this subject for awhile. It's still a WIP but maybe you can get some ideas from the research I've done. I've been interested in creating a very flexible audio system that can play a very large number of audio clips via a glove controller (only 1 button) and a position sensor. This is what they use at Galaxy's Edge and is pretty cool and gives you a lot more choices for sounds, but also adds a lot more complexity. Do you want recorded sound clips, or to use your own voice? Recorded sounds have limitations, such as how many you can easily trigger to play by buttons. This works well for characters like Wookiees or Jawas who really only make a few unique sounds. If you don't want to be limited to a few canned phrases, you may want to go with mic headset and a simple audio amp. You can probably do that for pretty cheap < $50 on Amazon. Microphone + Amplifier I've been using the iComm & Aker amp setup that I see alot of people using. For me it hasn't worked well. Mounting in the chest has a very muffled sound (maybe it's my voice) but no one can understand me unless I repeat myself at least once. I get a lot of blank stares which is not super-impressive. I switched to JUST using the amplifier + mic system. It's a little better sound, but I mostly have the same problem. Namely, being able to turn it up to be understandable but also not cause feedback from your helmet. Chest mount amps seem to suffer from this. Another thing I've witnessed for folks who have an external amplifier located in a pouch (those Scouts!): you can understand them pretty well, but the audio in the helmet gives some sort of cross-talk that makes it sound non-stormtrooper like (to my ears). I just want to hear the audio from the speaker. Buy: So, long story even longer, if you want a simple sound board with 4 or 8 clips, visit Etsy and search for "sound glove" and you should get the standard ones I've seen. You can find them on Youtube for DIY. My Plans: I just put out an order on Fiverr for someone to professionally record sound clips. My voice just isn't stormtrooper-y. They do 100 words for $20 which was a decent starter to try this out with. Gotchas: I created what I thought was a easy to use button controller, but after I put it on with the glove it became clear I wouldn't have the dexterity due to the bulk of the gloves. This is even with a much larger button surface like below. Spacing the buttons farther might help but it makes the controller very wide, which it's already sticking out from the palm to be visible, which isn't what I want. Sorry for the length of this, but it's a WIP and probably going to become a separate thread.

  5. Alright, here we go! I'm excited to begin a thread for my build on Captain Enoch, I'm notoriously bad at updates on build threads, but my goal is to try and document as much as I can for this build while keeping an eye on the CRL as it progresses as well. Currently, I have most of what may be needed for this build ordered, with the exception of the chest, back, and blaster. I'll toss in some links to what I've been looking at so others can use them if desired. Helmet: Walsh3D File and to be printed in resin/ABS. There are a few helmet files out there so far, but this seems to be pretty darn close. Found here: Enoch Night Trooper Helmet - 3D Print Model – Wireframe (wirefram3d.com) Working on getting this printed now, and hope to start on it in the next week or so. Neck Seal: References show a black neck seal, similar to what other R1 style TKs have been using. On order from Sheev's Emporium. Found here: Sheev's Emporium - Facebook Undersuit: Enoch has a burgundy/dark red color to his undersuit, with the ribbing, so a custom one is on order from Sheev's Emporium also. Belt/Kama/Holster: David at Sheev's and I have been working on getting the designs for the Kama, Tassets, Belts, and Holster researched. Lots of great progress and he's been sharing some of his designs on his page and the Enoch/Night Trooper Facebook groups so far. Chest/Back: General thoughts are that the chest is customized to fit the actor, along with a custom back. Galactic Armory has said that they're going to do the armor, so fingers crossed it's high up on his list to get to. GA's site can be found here: https://galacticarmory.net/ Arms/Legs/Abd: Since this is mostly likely some R1 armor, going to go with 850 Armorworks for the pieces that haven't been customized. Found here: Rogue One Stormtrooper costume armor kit Mimban Solo Anthology TK (850armorworks.com) Gloves: David at Sheev's Emporium and I have been discussing this a bit, and we're hoping that these tough gloves are a close fit. Currently on order from Amazon, should be in this week. They're "chestnut" in color, but I've seen a few reviews on Amazon mentioning they have a bit of purple and tend to darken with use. Hoping to use that as is, or some leather paint to match the references seen so far. Found here: Amazon.com: Tough Gloves Marksman-X Ultra Thin Leather Gloves, TD 215 Chestnut Handguards: Thinking that they are the same as the R1 suits, just with the custom coloring. Included with the 850 armor. Boots: Standard R1 boots like the other R1 suits I believe, on order from KeepTrooping. Found here: (keeptrooping.com) Blaster: One of the only times we've seen it out of the holster is the standee that was recently published. I hope someone tackles this as a 3D file soon for printing. Excited to get started, and like many of you I prefer to get it right! Welcome to thoughts and feedback as the build progresses!

  6. I think I'm done with this unless something new comes out. I'm happy to work on the CRL and get something pushed through!

  7. Moved houses and workshops! October 2023 Not a troop, but a significant life event I'll share: Pardon my spotty attendance of late - I've been busy movin' on up to a new construction townhome in the next city over with a two-car attached garage, which means the end of an era and nearly 8 years in the single car detached carport that has been "Rascal Studios". Many thanks to the TKs who have graced this hallowed hall and many memories were made and friendships built in this space. Seeing it empty, it's hard to imagine I fit storage, a workbench, and all the tools needed for a stormtrooper build in here, plus my wagon/estate. On to bigger and better things and I'll post some photos of the new workshop once I'm all set up, though with the baby on the way, that isn't likely to be any time soon. 79. 8. [60] 21.10.2023 -- Elbenwald Store Hamburg Re-Opening Sixty already?! Time sure does fly when you're having fun! As you can see, I got lucky and managed to snag another troop for the year. At first I feared that I wouldn't be able to participate due to a once-in-a-century flood the day and night before with several nearby cities flooded and a terrible storm that kept me running around all evening trying to secure everything. However, with the help of the wonderful DZ-23203 (as Bo-Katan this troop) and her boyfriend, we managed to get there bright and early. Of course we started the troop with the obligatory elevator selfie. If you've been reading along, you'll probably recognize the store -- I've trooped at both their festival and another store of theirs before. Since it was re-opening day for them, we were invited to patrol the area and entertain the guest. Some of them had been waiting for two hours to be the first in the store...! No wonder, with 40% off for all costumers. Of course we couldn't miss out on shopping ourselves. Okay, in this picture we don't actually have any merchandise with us and are just posing in front of the store. But at the end of the day we got to buy stuff ourselves! I got some new Stormtrooper t-shirts, Christmas gifts for my siblings, and a Darksaber for my TK-sister who sadly couldn't join us that day. Most of our day, however, was not spent inside the store, as their AC was broken and it had gotten insanely hot in there. Always remember to take breaks and hydrate! TK-66744 signing off

  10. #1. Event: Chattanooga Comic Con Date: Saturday, 21 October, 2023 Host unit: Midsouth Garrison, Mos Nooga Squad Kit: ANH-Stunt The day started out with my daughter's soccer game followed by our small town's Fall Festival, and due to the presence of bouncy-house inflatables, it looked like I might not event make it to the convention. We made a last-minute decision to bring the entire family so we rushed home, dressed up my 4YO, then made the 30-minute drive into the city. Not only was this my first ever troop, but it was also my first ever convention to attend in general, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. After picking up our badges we found our way to the Legions area, where I met the city's local unit, the Mos Nooga Squad of the Midsouth Garrison (TN), for the first time. Note that I live across the state line in GA and am a member of the Venator Squad of its Garrison. So yes, this first official troop wasn't even with my own Garrison. Making our way to the changing room, my wife helped me kit up (only the third time she'd ever seen me as a TK), and at one point the spitting image (face, hair, glasses, etc.) of Iron Man waddled through the dressing area. Catching sight of my daughter, he exclaimed "Earth is closed," to a young Vader. We should have nabbed a picture with him. After 30-45 minutes of dressing due to disassembled armor for transport, I headed out onto the con floor for Blast-A-Trooper. Apparently there had been a TK there earlier in the day (his FX kit made it onto the news lol), but the squad was short on hard armor, so they were eager to have me. I heckled the nerf shooters with galactic jargon, and probably used "move along" far too many times. Unfortunately, no photos were taken, but since the nerf rounds had rounded tips rather than suction tips, none of them stuck to me anyway. Some kids had a blast. After a bit I decided to walk the con floor to drum up some additional Blast-A-Trooper attention, but was quickly and continually stopped by children and adults alike wanting photos. Apparently my area is short on TKs, with the local squad only have 10 squad members to begin with. The convention hall next door was hosting an IFBB body building competition, and while I was in the corridor one of the contestants exclaimed that getting a photo with me was really why he was there. While roaming around I ran into Scout @Pugs501, from my actual Squad, in her Jawa, and it was a cool moment of meeting for the first time after interacting online for 2+ years. Needless to say I felt extremely short. Scout also introduced me to Ashe of Bad Ashe Design, and we educated her on the green lenses of TK buckets after I explained that I couldn't tell the color of any of her pins and stickers for sale. I also spotted Jorge's @zv288bot meilooruns, but unfortunately he wasn't going to make the con until the next day, and with his Chopper too! Bummed I missed them. On our way back to the Legion area I called out "Hello there!" to James Arnold Taylor, who immediately ran out from behind his table to engage my daughter. I wonder how often he's heard a "Hello there" from a TK in full kit with voice amp. Haha. Though she's never seen any Star Wars on screen other than Young Jedi Adventures, she held her own in the conversation, and JAT was quite gracious. We ended with me telling him "You can go about your business" to which he responded "Move along, move along." I was giddy. Ironically, we did also find the droid I was looking for, and had to snag a photo. Pic or it didn't happen right? The pesky goldie still seems to be illusive... Back at the Legion corner I had to get some photos with the hover tank that had previously made an appearance at ICCC Nashville. Apparently the Mercs bought it off the builder, and if I'd have had more time I would have climbed up onto it, and maybe even poked out of the hatch. Next time. Finally, before heading home I made one last patrol down the celebrity row and saw that Emily Swallow had nobody in line so I approached and greeted her. Really I just wanted to welcome her to town and thank her, but I was a bit star struck and bumbled through my words. Haha. I even forgot to tell her "This is the way" when ending our conversation. Do I even Star Wars?!?! So in review: First official troop Blast-A-Trooper Escorted mini Vader daughter Finally met Scout "Hello there" with Obi-Wan (JAT) Met Emily Swallow All in all I had a pretty good time. The clubs booth with a bit disorganized, and most members were in racing shirts rather than kits, but perhaps 3:00pm was too late in the day. I'm not sure if I'll go to the next cons in January and February, but I definitely want to get in on some charity action, and some troops with my own Georgia Garrison! But I have one in the books, and I can now fill out my census!

  11. Search and they will be found TK chatter Google Drive link https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/14vAaXe7vzNsBYuzQy8Ro2yc0sjnb5k7S?usp=sharing For my TK I use and Icomm and an Aker amp. For some of my other costumes I use a small mp3 player and an Aker amp gutted so it fits in pouches, I also use 2 relay remotes to activate start/stop and select, once the remote is stripped they are only a little larger than a CR2032 battery they fit nicely into gloves, with a loop of elastic glued to them so they stay on the fingers. 13. It does look awful see through on the wraps that came loose. And the forearm on the trooper that is down looks to have some bulk to it. Maybe it was double wrapped

  14. Really cool shoot, man. It was fun watching it on the socials. I'm also loving that the E-11s were held left-handed! But when didn't Bender get in his armor?! Also, while I had seen the preceding beach photos, I hadn't seen the statistics you mentioned. Very cool to see those numbers and breakdowns!
