Greetings fellow members, Welcome all to the October edition! What an exciting month gone by since our September newsletter, with plenty to sing about, so let's get stuck into it. Finally, we were able to get the green light on the long awaited Commander Pyre CRL, literally years in the making but now a 501st approved CRL. Congratulations to Dino (Sano) TK 75608 for his epic work bringing this character to life from the animated series Star Wars Resistance. More about this further down. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:Commander-pyre The Ahsoka series turned out to be very exciting for several detachments, with plenty of research going into developing good resources for what should be a bumper crop of new costumes for Legion. FISD certainly included amongst those with some pretty cool looking TK's and a new captain to boot. We have done our best to keep the forums and our SM platform as spoiler free as possible, but now the series has ended, it's time to have some fun open discussion on what we have seen. We have submitted requests to have both Night Troopers and Captain Enoch housed here on FISD, so we can create the CRL's. These are still out for a Poll in the LMO office, but at this stage no other detachments has shown interest. With that in mind, I would like to officially launch Two new sections within our forums. Night Troopers AND..... Captain Enoch The new sections can be found under the pre-existing area https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/31-costuming-and-builds-original-trilogy-and-anthology501st-approved/ Like any new addition to our forums, these new sections will have build threads, an already populated resource and reference area, plus an available vendors list, all designed to make it as easy as possible to get your new dream costume well under way. I would like to thank all the FISD staff who have helped with the resources and discussions regarding the viability of these fantastic looking costume becoming a pert of our awesome detachment. MERCH TIME AGAIN, yep you better believe it!! As one merch run closes, the next opens. Get ready and check further down in this addition for what is about to go live, but we won't stop there, we got more exciting merch a commin! We can't wait to reveal to everyone what it is. Keep an eye on the forums for potential sneak peeks in the coming weeks/ months. That's it from me, but there is plenty more information for everyone in this edition. Enjoy With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK-11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader Greetings Troopers! It is about to get interesting with the merch, keep your eyes on the forum and social media. Here's what the charter says about activity definitions: Operations Protocol/Membership An Active Member is defined as a member in good standing who meets the following requirements: Meets all 501st Membership Requirements (i.e. ownership of an approved costume, is over 18 years of age, etc). Has an approved membership record in the 501st Legion Membership Database Maintains active contact with their Garrison CO or GML. Active contact and participation will be confirmed during the annual Legion Census held each year during the month of October. Maintains contact information/membership record in the 501st Legion database either through their Garrison CO or GML. Participates in at least one Garrison or Legion activity per year while wearing an approved 501st costume owned by said member as recorded in the Legion Census. (One year is defined as the period from Legion Census to Legion Census). Examples of an activity include, but are not limited to conventions, charity events, or any activity designated as an official event by a coordinating administrative unit of the Legion. Members who serve in military branches are exempt from activity level requirements if their service renders them unable to meet these requirements. These Minimum Activity Level Requirements should be administered as justly and with as much common sense as possible. A member may retain active status, even if they do not meet all of the requirements listed above at the discretion of their unit Commanding Officer or Legion Command. Filling out the census only takes a few minutes and you also have the opportunity to update your contact information ie: address, email, phone and so on. THE LAST EVENT TROOPED is the most important piece of data. Because our trooping year was cut short due to Corona-virus, Legion Command has recommended membership status changes are left to the discretion of the Unit Commander so please check in with your local command prior to filling out your census. NOTE: members who were not able to troop should enter "COVID-19" as their last troop. Any questions you have in regards to the census please contact either your GCO (garrison commanding officer) or your GML (garrison membership liaison) Census form layout With the last forum update the viewable area of the census may not be full page, as such change your page magnification to 75% and you should be able to see the whole page. Note: make sure you tick the box "Is the above information correct?" please tick YES If you have any problems with the logging in please contact the LWM team here: support@501st.com So stand up and be counted troopers, you have until 31st October. With Unquestioned Loyalty Caleb Mask TK-73692 "MaskedVengeance" Attache Ambassador The FISD Master Armorer program is an optional, detachment only incentive award to recognize individuals who have directly helped another 501st stormtrooper to achieve Expert Infantry status. Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. To register a “win” in the program, the assistance must have provided hands-on help trimming, building, and/or fitting of said armor for the person who was awarded Expert Infantry status. More information can be found here Want to setup a "Fire Team? the Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion Stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. You can find more information here. These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. 4. SE-14R Holster Research There has been a lot of research over the years on the subject of the "Promo" "Hero" trooper and what holster should be used for the SE-14R but there are no absolute official canon images of what the holster should look like, we only have partial images and peoples interpretation of those images. Much of the research has been lost due to the "Photobucket Debacle" and some archived but I've added what is salvageable below RS Holster worn by Hero helmet trooper below, mid attachment, believed to be a rebel DH-17 holster put on a TK belt (incorrectly). Also note the stitching is on the left (front) of the holster and the standard E-11 is on the right (back), it is shorter than the E-11 and also angled on the bottom. At first only believed to be worn by 1 trooper we have the image below showing 2 troopers sporting this style of holster. Very easy to spot as the holster is a lot shorter than an E-11 holster and slightly angled on the bottom Holster comparison E-11 on left, RS Variant on right - no cutout like promo trooper. Note the stitching is on the opposite side of the holster. Hero Promo, short like the RS holster also stitching on the left (front) BUT with a cut-out section and SE-14R in the holster, once again you can see it is a lot shorter than an E-11 holster as it is high on the thigh. This could very well be one of the RS style holsters modified with the cut out seen below. 4 rivet attachment as you can see the two rivets on the one strap below While looking at a lot of the promo pictures I can see it has an angle from left rising to the right much like the RS Variant holster so it may even be a similar design with the cut out added to it. Angled upwards in green After some debate and going over a lot of the reference material we concluded there had been different versions of the RS Variant / Promo / Hero trooper holster: 1 Hero with the tapered RS holster, sewn on opposite side and belt attachment in the middle with 2 rivets, wearing a detonator and no belt cover squares. 2 Hero Luke and 421 have the standard 4 rivet belt attachment E-11 style with com and grappling box 1 Hero the standard 4 rivet belt attachment E-11 style with detonator 1 Hero PROMO tapered holster RS style with cut out/notch for E-11 or SE-14R (trooper could holster either style weapon), 4 rivets on belt, sewn on opposite side, wearing a TD. My SE-14R Modelled from the RS Variant photo, but no cut out like Promo trooper I believe the cut out on the Promo trooper may have been added as removing the blaster from the holster may have been difficult while wearing gloves, the cut out may allow access to the trigger area, but that's just my thoughts Until any further references come to light this is the conclusion, check with your GML or GCO, some will allow non canon items to be worn, some won't.

  7. Nice consolidation of much history here, many thanks Glen. I would figure the E-11 had to be mounted on the left due to the magazine! maybe the SR-14 was then also mounted on the left to create a uniform look for the big screen? No magazine issues there but now a left sided holster for a blaster that could actually sit on the right. I'd love to see a side profile of the Promo Trooper, to me It looks like purpose made item and not a usual holster "flipped" for stitching! these are not dyed through leathers and considering access to the blaster, looking at the pic, the SR14 is sitting kind of high to warrant a cut out? or is it just me, I can be wrong, I often am.

  8. Have you looked at KeepTrooping for TK boots? Those hug the calf really well. I tried the DIY route first and the boots I found on Amazon were too short and would not stay in the shin armor. Ended up spending plenty on paint and wasted time. KT boots did not have that problem.

  9. Forum has a limit on attachments unfortunately, you could imagine the amount of images this forum could contain. Many of us use a free image host, upload images there then copy and past the "direct link" into your post, I use Imgur To come this far you have done very well and only a short distance to go until we see you join the ranks. If you get to a ready to submit to GML (garrison membership liaison) you can post in the pre approval area for feedback if you so desire

  10. Thank you! Sorry about the image quality I couldn't figure out how to upload the larger versions. Tells me I have a limit. Should I host them somewhere else and link them from URL? - Yes, still need to paint all of my rivets yet! - The thigh hanging low is my bad. My strap popped when taking these pictures. Should be fixed in my next update. - My codpiece is about as high up as I can get it without it being really uncomfortable. I might try and add more tension to the back-to-kidney elastic to try and bring it up. I'll also look into those V tabs, sound like a good idea!

  12. Hello and welcome, you are just about there. Can't quite make out a few details as the images are quite small and won't enlarge well. You may want to try bring your cod upwards a little, that would help close the gap between your backplate and kidney and also make the sides meet a little better Your right thigh is a little low, note it's contacting with the shin Don't forget white paint on the thigh ammo strip rivets, also abdomin side rivets if they haven't been painted (hard to see) Note your posterior plate is riding up on the left, V tabs can help but see if you can adjust some of your strapping first. V Tabs With a heat gun or oven you bend strips of ABS plastic into the shape of a V, only glue one side and the other remains free to allow movement when you bend. Just helps stop the butt plate from pushing back from the back plate. Looking forward to seeing the progress

  13. Troop #: 28 Date: October 7, 2023 Location: Tyrone, GA Event: Tyrone Founder's Day Festival & Parade Event Charity: N/A Lots of shenanigans this year as Dan but clearly not many troops as a regular ol' TK, so I got it out this past weekend to help support an event that's only 15-ish minutes away, which is unusual as most troops are on the north side of Atlanta and over an hour away. There were only two of us in attendance, myself and a buddy with his MMCC kit, but we made the most of it, had a lot of fun, and there were a lot of smiles and excited folks! Little over a mile march for the parade and lots of pictures at the festival afterward. My daughter was super excited to help handle and also hand out candy, she did a great job!

  14. Hola Trevor. Desgraciadamente, como bien indica Glen, no hay ninguna imagen de referencia que nos permita ver un trooper usando un holster para un SE-14R, así que no puede ser validado para utilizarlo en eventos oficiales. Hi Trevor. Unfortunately, as Glen rightly points out, there is no reference image that allows us to see a trooper wearing a holster for an SE-14R, so it cannot be validated for use at official events.
