Research Wraps Boots Cod heights Detonator Majority of troopers are seen with grey on the inside caps, both sides of their detonators. But there's always "that guy" who has to be different These are all white, but this scene is a behind view of the first image at the top, it could be drawn as the end cap walls look pretty thick. Also the ribbon/tape on the middle troopers backplate appears to go under the O 11, which makes me think drawn. Tape Zombie troopers3 points

Greetings fellow members, Welcome all to the October edition! What an exciting month gone by since our September newsletter, with plenty to sing about, so let's get stuck into it. Finally, we were able to get the green light on the long awaited Commander Pyre CRL, literally years in the making but now a 501st approved CRL. Congratulations to Dino (Sano) TK 75608 for his epic work bringing this character to life from the animated series Star Wars Resistance. More about this further down. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:Commander-pyre The Ahsoka series turned out to be very exciting for several detachments, with plenty of research going into developing good resources for what should be a bumper crop of new costumes for Legion. FISD certainly included amongst those with some pretty cool looking TK's and a new captain to boot. We have done our best to keep the forums and our SM platform as spoiler free as possible, but now the series has ended, it's time to have some fun open discussion on what we have seen. We have submitted requests to have both Night Troopers and Captain Enoch housed here on FISD, so we can create the CRL's. These are still out for a Poll in the LMO office, but at this stage no other detachments has shown interest. With that in mind, I would like to officially launch Two new sections within our forums. Night Troopers AND..... Captain Enoch The new sections can be found under the pre-existing area https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/31-costuming-and-builds-original-trilogy-and-anthology501st-approved/ Like any new addition to our forums, these new sections will have build threads, an already populated resource and reference area, plus an available vendors list, all designed to make it as easy as possible to get your new dream costume well under way. I would like to thank all the FISD staff who have helped with the resources and discussions regarding the viability of these fantastic looking costume becoming a pert of our awesome detachment. MERCH TIME AGAIN, yep you better believe it!! As one merch run closes, the next opens. Get ready and check further down in this addition for what is about to go live, but we won't stop there, we got more exciting merch a commin! We can't wait to reveal to everyone what it is. Keep an eye on the forums for potential sneak peeks in the coming weeks/ months. That's it from me, but there is plenty more information for everyone in this edition. Enjoy With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK-11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader Greetings Troopers! It is about to get interesting with the merch, keep your eyes on the forum and social media. You can find more information on the run thread here We will also be offering EI and Centurion rockers to go with the shield patches. More info will be posted in the Detachment Merchandise. We will be opening an interest thread for our newest item in the not too distant future. Here's what the charter says about activity definitions: Operations Protocol/Membership An Active Member is defined as a member in good standing who meets the following requirements: Meets all 501st Membership Requirements (i.e. ownership of an approved costume, is over 18 years of age, etc). Has an approved membership record in the 501st Legion Membership Database Maintains active contact with their Garrison CO or GML. Active contact and participation will be confirmed during the annual Legion Census held each year during the month of October. Maintains contact information/membership record in the 501st Legion database either through their Garrison CO or GML. Participates in at least one Garrison or Legion activity per year while wearing an approved 501st costume owned by said member as recorded in the Legion Census. (One year is defined as the period from Legion Census to Legion Census). Examples of an activity include, but are not limited to conventions, charity events, or any activity designated as an official event by a coordinating administrative unit of the Legion. Members who serve in military branches are exempt from activity level requirements if their service renders them unable to meet these requirements. These Minimum Activity Level Requirements should be administered as justly and with as much common sense as possible. A member may retain active status, even if they do not meet all of the requirements listed above at the discretion of their unit Commanding Officer or Legion Command. Filling out the census only takes a few minutes and you also have the opportunity to update your contact information ie: address, email, phone and so on. THE LAST EVENT TROOPED is the most important piece of data. Because our trooping year was cut short due to Corona-virus, Legion Command has recommended membership status changes are left to the discretion of the Unit Commander so please check in with your local command prior to filling out your census. NOTE: members who were not able to troop should enter "COVID-19" as their last troop. Any questions you have in regards to the census please contact either your GCO (garrison commanding officer) or your GML (garrison membership liaison) Census form layout With the last forum update the viewable area of the census may not be full page, as such change your page magnification to 75% and you should be able to see the whole page. Note: make sure you tick the box "Is the above information correct?" please tick YES If you have any problems with the logging in please contact the LWM team here: support@501st.com So stand up and be counted troopers, you have until 31st October. You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Alright, here we go! I'm excited to begin a thread for my build on Captain Enoch, I'm notoriously bad at updates on build threads, but my goal is to try and document as much as I can for this build while keeping an eye on the CRL as it progresses as well. Currently, I have most of what may be needed for this build ordered, with the exception of the chest, back, and blaster. I'll toss in some links to what I've been looking at so others can use them if desired. Helmet: Walsh3D File and to be printed in resin/ABS. There are a few helmet files out there so far, but this seems to be pretty darn close. Found here: Enoch Night Trooper Helmet - 3D Print Model – Wireframe (wirefram3d.com) Working on getting this printed now, and hope to start on it in the next week or so. Neck Seal: References show a black neck seal, similar to what other R1 style TKs have been using. On order from Sheev's Emporium. Found here: Sheev's Emporium - Facebook Undersuit: Enoch has a burgundy/dark red color to his undersuit, with the ribbing, so a custom one is on order from Sheev's Emporium also. Belt/Kama/Holster: David at Sheev's and I have been working on getting the designs for the Kama, Tassets, Belts, and Holster researched. Lots of great progress and he's been sharing some of his designs on his page and the Enoch/Night Trooper Facebook groups so far. Chest/Back: General thoughts are that the chest is customized to fit the actor, along with a custom back. Galactic Armory has said that they're going to do the armor, so fingers crossed it's high up on his list to get to. GA's site can be found here: https://galacticarmory.net/ Arms/Legs/Abd: Since this is mostly likely some R1 armor, going to go with 850 Armorworks for the pieces that haven't been customized. Found here: Rogue One Stormtrooper costume armor kit Mimban Solo Anthology TK (850armorworks.com) Gloves: David at Sheev's Emporium and I have been discussing this a bit, and we're hoping that these tough gloves are a close fit. Currently on order from Amazon, should be in this week. They're "chestnut" in color, but I've seen a few reviews on Amazon mentioning they have a bit of purple and tend to darken with use. Hoping to use that as is, or some leather paint to match the references seen so far. Found here: Amazon.com: Tough Gloves Marksman-X Ultra Thin Leather Gloves, TD 215 Chestnut Handguards: Thinking that they are the same as the R1 suits, just with the custom coloring. Included with the 850 armor. Boots: Standard R1 boots like the other R1 suits I believe, on order from KeepTrooping. Found here: (keeptrooping.com) Blaster: One of the only times we've seen it out of the holster is the standee that was recently published. I hope someone tackles this as a 3D file soon for printing. Excited to get started, and like many of you I prefer to get it right! Welcome to thoughts and feedback as the build progresses!2 points

Research Backplate Chest comparison Fabric/Belt/Kama SheevsEmporium Research Gloves are Maroon color, see Wookiepiedia high resolution image for source image showing dark maroon/burgundy gloves. Tough Gloves Mod similar to Boba /Din. The double stitch and shape of thumb, all leather appear a high probability. Small X type stitching detail across sash seams. Higher Tex Bonded Thread to be sampled, hand sewn detail only. Sash is sewn panels on diagonal. See Comments for proposed makeup/sample. Sash in Leatherette(leather) with opening on wearers right rear hip. Opening closes rear over front with minimal overhang. Suede (faux suede) Quilted diamond stitched Tassets Left and Right, Edged in lighter shade Velvet or lighter shade Suede. Kama is 6 Panels total with Privacy panels present front and rear. Image in Comments showing proposed design. In Leatherette (leather) material, same as Kama. Edged in Velvet or suede same as Tassets, samples to come soon. Belt is Layered leather in different Oz. makeup, covering stitching as needed, opening in front with End user applying small belt holes and attached to sash via Velcro center strip hidden by outer thin layer of leather decorative strip. Belt loops are attached via the front and via snaps in the rear allowing swivel motion as seen on screen. Entire Sash assembly is Snap attached to lower edge of Abdomen/Kidney armor. It is recommended to find armor that has this option to allow for sash placement. Enoch is believed to not wear a cod, nor a butt plate. Upper shirt is patternedsimilar to all R1 patterns with mesh under arm, assuming mesh is present. Ribbed just under 4mm throughout on Jersey knit. There is no Raglan pattern identified, (as suggested by CGI intro scene), standard Shirt pattern is used throughout references. Neckseal is Black horizontal Ribbed with closure via flap, left over right (screen capture available confirming rear closure method) no visible rear zipper is seen. Holster matches shape of blaster handle and attaches via 2 snaps over belt in between sash. Holster is larger up top and narrows towards the bottom. Pistol is unknown at this time aside from handle and scope partial views. Shoulder Straps Blaster2 points

Hi Trevor, it's great to know you have your SE-14! According to TKC references, there is no holster for that weapon. You could check with your GML to see if you can use one. I found a holster on Etsy that might work for you. Hola Trevor, que bueno que ya tengas tu SE-14 ! Según las referencias del TKC, no se cuenta con holster para esa arma. Podrías consultar con tu GML para que te indique si puedes utilizar uno. Another update today. First full kit up. [Boots on Order from KT] Legs need some velcro somewhere. I'm not sure where that will go, but I'm going to do some research. The belt is better but there is a cavern between my butt plate and my actual butt. I am going to make an elastic to join those areas in the middle. Cod placement also with a gap. Top half [ I haven't gotten anything holding down the top of the chest yet. Either magnets or tried and true velcro.] It feels great to have gotten this far. It feels a lot more real now that I can get the whole thing to at least sit on my body. Fixed the chest side velcro mis-alignment and the chest sat down much better. Here are a couple of close ups of the fixup surgery I started on the gauntlet.2 points

SE-14R Holster Research There has been a lot of research over the years on the subject of the "Promo" "Hero" trooper and what holster should be used for the SE-14R but there are no absolute official canon images of what the holster should look like, we only have partial images and peoples interpretation of those images. Much of the research has been lost due to the "Photobucket Debacle" and some archived but I've added what is salvageable below RS Holster worn by Hero helmet trooper below, mid attachment, believed to be a rebel DH-17 holster put on a TK belt (incorrectly). Also note the stitching is on the left (front) of the holster and the standard E-11 is on the right (back), it is shorter than the E-11 and also angled on the bottom. At first only believed to be worn by 1 trooper we have the image below showing 2 troopers sporting this style of holster. Very easy to spot as the holster is a lot shorter than an E-11 holster and slightly angled on the bottom Holster comparison E-11 on left, RS Variant on right - no cutout like promo trooper. Note the stitching is on the opposite side of the holster. Hero Promo, short like the RS holster also stitching on the left (front) BUT with a cut-out section and SE-14R in the holster, once again you can see it is a lot shorter than an E-11 holster as it is high on the thigh. This could very well be one of the RS style holsters modified with the cut out seen below. 4 rivet attachment as you can see the two rivets on the one strap below While looking at a lot of the promo pictures I can see it has an angle from left rising to the right much like the RS Variant holster so it may even be a similar design with the cut out added to it. Angled upwards in green After some debate and going over a lot of the reference material we concluded there had been different versions of the RS Variant / Promo / Hero trooper holster: 1 Hero with the tapered RS holster, sewn on opposite side and belt attachment in the middle with 2 rivets, wearing a detonator and no belt cover squares. 2 Hero Luke and 421 have the standard 4 rivet belt attachment E-11 style with com and grappling box 1 Hero the standard 4 rivet belt attachment E-11 style with detonator 1 Hero PROMO tapered holster RS style with cut out/notch for E-11 or SE-14R (trooper could holster either style weapon), 4 rivets on belt, sewn on opposite side, wearing a TD. My SE-14R Modelled from the RS Variant photo, but no cut out like Promo trooper I believe the cut out on the Promo trooper may have been added as removing the blaster from the holster may have been difficult while wearing gloves, the cut out may allow access to the trigger area, but that's just my thoughts Until any further references come to light this is the conclusion, check with your GML or GCO, some will allow non canon items to be worn, some won't.1 point

Hola Trevor. Desgraciadamente, como bien indica Glen, no hay ninguna imagen de referencia que nos permita ver un trooper usando un holster para un SE-14R, así que no puede ser validado para utilizarlo en eventos oficiales. Hi Trevor. Unfortunately, as Glen rightly points out, there is no reference image that allows us to see a trooper wearing a holster for an SE-14R, so it cannot be validated for use at official events.1 point

There is no references for the CRL so it can't be added as an official canon item. There are no absolute images of an SE-14R holster and a Stormtrooper, even the Promo Stormtrooper we only see partial images and those have a cut out in it, different to the holster seen in A New Hope No hay referencias para la CRL, por lo que no se puede agregar como elemento canónico oficial. No hay imágenes absolutas de una funda SE-14R y un Stormtrooper, incluso en la Promoción Stormtrooper solo vemos imágenes parciales y tienen un recorte, diferente a la funda que se ve en A New Hope. This is the holster some think is for the SE-14R BUT the promo trooper image shows a cutout so it's different to that one Esta es la funda que algunos creen que es para el SE-14R, PERO la imagen del soldado promocional muestra un recorte, por lo que es diferente a esa. This one has the cutout Este tiene el recorte1 point

Thank you! It’s just that the CRL is not very clear. The SE-14r is listed as an optional weapon but all the information for the holster is for the E-11. I don’t understand why it would permit the pistol but not the holster. Also, thanks for the link. Gracias! El CRL es un poco confuso. La pistola aparece como arma opcional pero toda la información del holster es para el E-11. No entiendo porque permiten la pistola pero no el holster. De todas formas, gracias por el enlace.1 point

Good to know, I think for now I'll stick with the round ones unless I really screw one of them up or something, then I'll do the angled corners lol.1 point

Oh and thanks for pointing out the shoulder snap. Didn't even notice! Thanks!1 point

As always, thanks for the feedback. I did put some foam in both shins as they immediately started pointing to the left. I will make the left shin a smaller. I can't do too much at the top I don't think as my calf itself is apparently big. I will mess with it. I will look to tighten things up. While I am glad you pointed out the holster. I didn't notice it. I need to look at it and hope it was just an odd angle. Honestly not sure what to do to fix that.1 point

Even with my shock trooper build, I have been thinking of other improvements I want to make to my FEM7 armor. I don't have a timeline to work on these yet, especially because I am in the midst of my shock trooper build, but I think this is the best place to post these ideas (especially because others can chime in with ideas well)! In my post about my experience about PopCon, I came up with these improvements I still need to address: Armor Bite: The bottom edge of my thigh armor kept rubbing on the outer sides of my knees, and hours and hours of this occurring certainly made me feel it by the end of the con. I need to trim the bottom edges to alleviate this problem. Also, now that I know much more about return edges, I may just completely trim away the return edges on this section of the armor, especially given that the bottoms of the thighs are much less visible than other areas where return edges maintain the look of the armor. Shoulder Strap: The shoulder strap armor did not want to stay put at all, as can be seen in the photos I posted from my photoshoot. I think I should glue the front of the shoulder strap armor to the appropriate place of chest armor, as is the case with the approvable armors. I also need to remake the elastic straps in this area, as the snaps used to connect the arm armor strapping have pulled almost fully through the elastic due to the tension from moving my arms armor. I have also thought of other issues to address, as well as new additions to the costume: Helmet: I didn't think a helmet would be that essential, especially because most photos I have seen of folks wearing FEM7 armor show them without helmets, I did get feedback at the con (from people who really like my armor) that a helmet would really add to the "amazingness" of the costume. On top of the amazingness factor, the practical benefit is I could wear the helmet if I do not want to worry so much about makeup (or if I am attending a smaller con where I don't have a hotel room to use to apply my makeup). Fortunately, Imperial Surplus sells a helmet that was designed to go with the kit...but I really like the Legacy Fem helmet more (even though the FEM7 kit is clearly inspired by First Order armor). I wonder if I could make the Legacy Fem helmet work with the FEM7 armor and not look out of place... Interior Cover Strips: Now that I know more about the stress put on the glued seams/joints of lower leg armor, due to needing the armor to open up and allow me to put my lower leg through, I will be adding interior cover strips to the appropriate joints. I haven't had issues with the joint now, but continual wear over time will take its toll. Paint: I had much more paint transfer than I ever thought I would...or wanted... The black paint from the belt made super visible marks on the white armor, so I want to find some way to prevent the black paint from transferring to the white armor (maybe some heavy duty clear coat?). Also, I am going to repaint the armor to cover over the paint transfer. I think I will go for a glossier finish for the armor as well. Alright, I should end this as this post is much longer than I thought it would be. Even though I have completed the build, I really want to keep making improvements to this armor! I don't really have a timeline for these improvements as the shock trooper build is taking priority right now, but I am excited about doing more with my FEM7 armor!1 point

Hello hello! Few months after my last post, but finally some exciting progress to share! The first batch of my armor has been chromed this week by a Dutch company (the only one in NL that uses Spectrachrome). Ive got their details by contacting Spectrachrome in the US, reached out to them and they were super excited to give this a try. Few months later they had to admit it was a bit more challenging than expected. I'm so excited!! Its so shiny!! Next week we're moving on to the bigger parts. In the meantime, any recommendations on where to buy the boots? I know they need to be jodhpur boots with a little heel, but I also need a way to get my inserts in to get a bit taller :-) Also on the lookout for a baton - any leads? Thanks for reading!1 point
