Troop 34 & 35 London Comicon London, Ontario September 16 and 17, 2023 This was a much smaller con than the last one and was a very fun troop. we did morning patrols around the convention on both days and had most of our photo ops there. We came across this heroine person taking a break from fighting crime. He was kind enough to pose with us Next we came across some sort of android type statue. Something about the resistance and futility I think they were saying. Since Lord Vader never lets us pilot the battle cruisers, we jumped at the opportunity to take this one out for a spin. For a moment , I thought these were the droids we were looking for but no such luck. This one definitely was a little short to be a stormtrooper. One convention guest had a completely new spin on driving the AT-AT On Saturday afternoon. We were visited by Brendan Wayne who wears the Din Darin costume on the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal only wears it during helmet off scenes apparently), as well As Lateef Crowder who does the fighting and stunt scenes in the Din Djarin costume and Misty Rosas who is the performance actor that did the motion capture for Kuill in season 1 and for the Frog Lady in season 2 of the Mandalorian. They stayed around our booth for about a half hour doing photos and trying blast a trooper. We made Lateed and Brendan honorary 501st members as well.2 points

If you use this idea don't forget to either paint black or wrap black tape around so the tab isn't seen from the outside1 point

Thanks! I have already check the higher leveles programs and yes my goal its centurion. I have build my TK in that way. First things to do is to buy an e11 blaster. Thanks, I contact him and i just wait the end of the month to ordered it.1 point

Tighter strapping can help, I doubled mine over which helped. Interlocking tabs are used by a few, mine was just an issue of the kidney pushing out sideways, I bent and glued a piece of ABS each side, behind the kidney and they just sit behind the abdomen. It's basic but works for me1 point

Thank you, all the images should be working now. I do not have an adjuster buckle but will definitely be getting one now. Thanks for the recommendation Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Day 8 Lots of things adding up. Got the torso, yoke and chest into a wearable state! Very gratifying to be able to put something on, even though it's pretty rough sized. Still grate. Got the gauntlets repaired and getting them assembled one by one. Given the shape of it, I am wondering if this pencil line would work for a TLJ gauntlet. I think I've seen some trimmed back gauntlets. The torso and back zipper. The butt plate straps are in kind of an inconvenient location so I'm not sure if I need to make a change yet. The zipper was the straightest lines I've ever sown, maybe owing to the shape of the zipper. The back right now is not trimmed back, just split down the middle. The velcro should give it some will "room to grow" but it seems like the torso needs to tighten quite a bit so I will probably revisit in the near future. Test fitting of abs & butt/cod Trying to show the join here on the yoke to back join. It actually is pretty narrow gap and will hopefully only require minimal filling.1 point

Been wanting to do a TK build for ages but could never decide on which iteration/version to do. I've definitely found it now. Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk1 point

Your images don't appear to be showing, don't forger "direct link" or right click copy paste if on computer Gaskets look great You could sew it, glue it, use rivets, so many options, makes sure you get the measurement right if you aren't using an adjuster buckle and make sure you check while wearing, it will make a difference.1 point

I got my first crack after 33 troops, not a bad run. I decided to try something different, having had to work with fibreglass building my death trooper costume, I picked up some new techniques. Here is the crack in the chest piece at the neck line. Materials used: UV resin paint brush tape UV light scissors Bondo fibreglass cloth sandpaper First, I taped the outside side of the crack to align it and hold everything in place. Next I brushed on a thin layer of UV resin and cured it. Took about 10 seconds Next, I cut a piece of the fibreglass cloth to cover the area . Then I painted on.another thin coat of resin, applied the cloth onto the wet resin and then dabbed another layer of resin onto the cloth to soak it in. Once this was done, I cured it again I then added a few more layers of resin curing them as I went. Finally, I sanded the repair smooth with 11pm grit sandpaper There was a slight edge to the repair, so I sanded it with 220 grit sand paper, then buffed with 1000 the 2000 grit sand paper and finished with Novus polish All repaired in less than 5 minutes1 point

Shiv, Thanks for the interest in 3d printable kits. I've posted quite a bit on the forum about this topic and unfortunately my news isn't ever promising. However, since I've talked about it rather frequently and you can search around for what I've written, I'll just hit the wave tops here. First, just check out what I wrote a couple weeks ago regarding OT armor: 1. Yes, it's 2023 and three years ago we heard that both Paul and Nico were designing 3D TK armor; by now we should have seen something materialize. However, I've spoken with both of them multiple times over the last three years and unfortunately, it doesn't look like either is interested in moving forward with this project. 2. CG Trader will get your feet wet, but a lot of these models have horrible design features and even the ones that appear the most accurate aren't. Team this up with 3D modelers who don't seem to understand costumes in general, what you get are 3D prints that are better suited for making sixth scale action figures rather than something that meets legion specifications without heavy modification. What I mean by this is that the majority of the models I've downloaded and tested have excruciatingly rough meshes and shell thicknesses of up to 1/4" that can't simply be altered through slicing software. If you go through my 3D build thread, go to the part where I discuss the thighs and shins. No person deserves that kind of punishment. 3. The 3D models available on CG Trader were mostly developed utilizing Mesh Mapping which doesn't account for certain discrepancies, or intricacies of the screen used design. The intentional eye bump is a good example of this. Mesh mapping will capture and correct images, then build it into a 3d model. Unless the designer is intimately familiar with the costume, they're not going to correct what the computer did for them. 4. This lack of knowledge of the costumes is a big reason why we get a lot of designers who blow you off when you offer a suggestion. My designer made almost every change I asked for and they've continued to update the kit since. But, the design changes that would have been much more technical went unchanged i.e. totally redesigning the chest, cod, butt, legs. Ultimately, I had to make a ton of changes after the fact and I failed to annotate all of them. 3D printing does have its place in the world of TKs though. I've used this technology extensively in my most recent build and I would challenge anyone to tell me what parts of this kit are printed and which are fiberglass. Here I am two weeks ago: Lol. I'm just doing a little pre-troop adjustment, but when finished correctly 3D prints are great. So, where does that leave us? Currently, there's no accurate file sets out there and our trusted modelers appear to have 0 desire to make TK armor. The amount of work required to get something printed, finished and approved far surpasses buying a kit from our reputable dealers. If you're interested in supplementing an existing kit with 3d pieces, there's options out there, but accuracy will cost you some money. Paul won't piece out his kit if you only wanted the legs for example and others out there are all kinds of messed up. I'm not going to talk badly about anyone's 3D kits, but look closely at what they're showing and you'll start noticing huge issues. Finally, because of this lack of good 3D files, I've started designing my own, but they're a ways off and I'm already loaded with other projects. Regardless, Here's a pic of the abdominal armor I'm developing and I'll be doing the chest and back next. I'm not Mesh Mapping, this is all from the ground up.1 point
