Oh my goodness hi! (Clearly I need to get my alert settings updated too, because I missed all these replies!) I'm so glad my build was of use - and amusement - to you. It was such a fun ride, ears and all. I'll be checking out your ear escapades now! And as far as getting out there in the FL heat... I did, and *even in the air conditioned building* I had to stop for a water break at the half hour mark. C'mon, Henry, get those helmet fans ready! Smudge has still got it.3 points

NEW Detachment Leader Merchandise Officer CRL Updates Hall of Fame FISD Meme's Around the Detachment INFORMATION & AWARD PROGRAMS FISD Tri-Fold Brochure Common FISD Acronyms and TK Glossary Pre Approval Forum 3D Section Field Exercise Award Imperial Attaché Program Master Armorer Award Fire Teams EIB & Centurion: What do these terms mean? Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advance to 1500 Advanced Tactics Awards Newsletter Editor Staff List 2023 Follow FISD Greetings one and all to the August edition Well it finally happened, just after the last newsletter went live we received the approval for FISD's latest costume, the Artillery trooper, as seen in the Mandalorian! Congratulations go to Honeymustard TK-22540 (Logan Hole) of the Wisconsin Garrison for his great work and assistance in allowing us to add this great costume to the detachments growing library of colourful TK's ANH Hero upgrade In our ongoing quest to improve our existing CRL's the ANH Hero has received some treatment too. The space pack is now officially part of this CRL, and you guessed it, it will remain on the ANH stunt CRL as well. Recent discussions had the staff looking at some readily available behind the scenes images of the actor suiting up for the scene where you see 2 TK's external to the Death Star standing buy a gunnery turret. It is clearly seen he was wearing a Hero version of the TK costume, so staff voted to have it added where it belonged but to also keep it in the current Stunt CRL. This is a win for all. Rogue One TK update Since this CRL's inception, the incorrect type of gloves have been acceptable. We all know the ANH style rubber gloves were never used for this costume, so they are now no longer acceptable from basic level up. We have left Nomex and leather gloves as the basic option as they are closer to the First Order TK gloves but in all black. Of course you can have the accurate gloves at basic as well if you like. This was missed on the last major overhaul, but is finally as it should be. Yes I have harped on about the Commander Pyre CRL for a long time now, but we are getting close now. I recently spoke with the member (Dino) currently refining this costume and he has booked a photo session to get the last 4 photos done required to get this CRL complete for LMO review. I promise the next time you hear about it from me will be to announce it as green lit and open to legion. Don't forget our latest campaign Advance to 1500! If you have a TK and are considering the next level of approval, then check out our Expert Infantry program. Generally its only a few inexpensive mods to get you a step closer to screen accurate, you get a nice banner on your forum side bar, pride in the fact you reached a mile stone, and further more you help the detachment reach our milestone of more troopers looking the best they can. Yes there is also merch and even some exclusives only available to those who achieve this easy step towards accuracy. You will also be included in upcoming merch and more exclusive as we Advance to 1500. The 1500 unquestioned loyalty! I would like to thank Honeymustard TK-22540 (Logan Hole) of the Wisconsin Garrison for his epic work CRL here Rogue One Update ANH Rubber gloves no longer accepted at basic, only Nomex and leather type, all other higher level requirements taken from Lvl 3 and moved to lvl 2 Expert Infantry. ANH Hero Update Recently we had a discussion and ran a members Poll on making a change to the OT ANH Stunt and Hero CRL's. After analysis of some old behind the scenes images, it was realised that the Space pack as seen in the film was actually worn with the hero version of this costume. The Poll asked should the Pack be removed from the ANH Stunt CRL and added to the Hero, or should it be allowed on both. The results were for the later so now we have officially added the Space pack to the ANH Hero so you can wear it with either of these costumes. There are a few minor stipulation as there already were in the Stunt CRL so it cant be worn worn with certain other accessories. The Space Pack falls under the accessories section and reads as below. With Unquestioned Loyalty Caleb Mask TK-73692 "MaskedVengeance" Attache Ambassador The FISD Master Armorer program is an optional, detachment only incentive award to recognize individuals who have directly helped another 501st stormtrooper to achieve Expert Infantry status. Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Troop 7 part 2. The day after the Market Square troop we went out to a local area called The Great Sandhills which feature a number of sand dunes in the middle of the prairie. It's a rather interesting nature spot and it can make from some very good photos. We were there early enough to have wind swept sand with no other footprints. I didn't want to take my still new armor out into the sand so while I did pose for one silly shot I just helped get the others in and out of the area. I felt maybe you all would like to see some of the finished shots. Bart If there was any doubt that Tatooine is really in Canada you just have to look at what I'm drinking. Bart2 points

Glad to see the post right before mine is also from a Texan! Yeah, it’s overwhelmingly hot here. hello- I’m Lauren, from Texas, and looking for resources on building female armor. Not 100% what TK to start with considering my very minimal research usually shows kits start at 5’8, so if there are any other short folks or Ladies around to assist me that would be fantastic. I’m 5’4 myself but I know half the troopers at events I go to are usually women so I’m in good company. I’ve loved Star Wars since I was a kid and this year my 4 year old challenged me to build him a first order (someone was a fan of galaxy’s edge, what can I say) suit, and the more I researched and looked into patterns for him the more interested I got myself. I’ve just been playing with EVA/cosplay foam making him play armor. we’ve been to any event we can this year and love the atmosphere and have talked to just about every build group and now I’m ready to start. I’d love to build something that could be 501st approved eventually. thanks!1 point

...and a special greeting to those who get the reference. Well, after a few years, several moves including a cross-country one, and dealing with oh-my-goodness-so-much death (being related to me is, apparently, a high risk activity), the Tiny TK herself is back! To prove that my time away wasn't ALL grief and taxes, here's a quick photo from Galactic Starcruiser. This was my very first foray into the excellent madness that is being a Twi'lek. Won the lekku in a raffle at a Garrison event a few years prior... Never knew I'd be using them for this! This post is mostly because as I dusted off my armor (figuratively. We all know it was kept nestled snugly in dust-free safety!), I realized I'd like to finally get that replacement ab piece I've been talking about since I first assembled my kit. It seemed odd that the ATA fb page was down, but I figured maybe I had an old link. Until I emailed Terrell and the email bounced back. ☹️ Finally found the sad news on here - how heartbreaking, y'all. Of a much lower priority, does anyone know what happened to his molds? I heard auction, but any updates since? Well, anyway, I'm still reserve, trying to fit in a troop before the census so I can get back to active. Scheduling is a challenge due to exams for my new career path, and handling estate stuff (see? I told you. So much death) but where there's a will, there's a way, and I'll see you fellow shiny whites soon. I hope your years were - and continue to be - as peaceful as possible! Aight, imma head out.1 point

ah thank you! That’s exactly the direction I was looking for. And Imperial surplus was one of the resources I do remember my local 501st guys telling me about so glad to hear they are a good direction to head.1 point

Been nearly a year since I've been working on my armor! I think I got somewhat discouraged, but feeling better now and back at it with some more questions. First up, here's my butt plate and kidney plate connection. Some of the straps look like crap. When I put the snaps together, I get about half of them looking good, and the other all misaligned, but they're still functional, albeit a bit challenging to snap/unsnap at times. Now I have to figure out how to attach the back plate and kidney plate. I'm not understanding how to attach these to where they will fit together since the bottom edge of the back plate is so curved. Any tips appreciated!1 point

Progress continued on my build yesterday! I was able to determine where the thigh armor best sits, so I took the measurements for the strapping that will connect the thigh armor to the front torso armor. I did the same for the shoulder armor. The straps themselves will be glued to the thigh and shoulder armor, with the connection to the shoulder strapping and front torso armor via snaps. The other pieces of the leg and arm armor will be worked out once I get the thigh armor and shoulder armor where I want them. The positioning of the bottom armor still needs work, and the thermal detonator will soon be glued into its holder as well! I also devised the best way to insert the spacers between the front and rear torso armor (it requires the use of the mirror)! I also devoted some attention to my belt. I have already discussed my painted-over Nerf gun, and I show the Nerf gun in the holster below (my attention to detail with weapons means I am pained by the holster not covering the trigger of the Nerf gun, but I will have to ignore that for now), but I also purchased a pouch that will hold my phone, wallet, and a compact for makeup touch-ups. There is a pouch armor piece that is currently being glued to this pouch. Both the pouch and holster have straps to connect them to the belt. The two halves of the belt will be held together via black elastic straps, and one of the snaps for the elastic can be seen on the inside of the belt. I am getting so close to completion!!!1 point

No one can tell I'm blushing thanks to my bucket. One thing I forgot to mention - this high school was apparently the Lenora Hills HS in Stranger Things s4. The courtyard is a place that gets touring groups through fairly regularly. The lady that requested us wanted to make sure we got out pix in front of the mural. I popped a screenshot over one of our group pix. I'm a fan of the show and have seen season 4, but I didn't remember the school at all. Guess it didn't make an impression on me. Still a fun trooping souvenir pic.1 point

8/11/23 - Eldorado High School Senior Sunrise 71st TK troop, 26th for 2023. This was a troop for a senior year kickoff at an Albuquerque school. Six of us answered the call. Well, 6.5? My trusty TK9 unit was at my side the whole morning. She may not be an approved trooping accessory, but the kids LOVED Mabel with her little rider. In fact, why not share some cute puppy pix now? I'd never trooped a high school before. Elementary kids LOVE seeing troopers. Middle schoolers would prefer to not live on the same planet as us. I was worried about the HS kids. I thought maybe a cute puppy might grease the wheels. Plus, I had to get up at 4:15 in the morning. Mabel wouldn't get her morning walk otherwise. It was a great time. The seniors were fantastic. Happy to have us there and VERY happy to pet the tiny attack Dewback. After sunrise, we were free to play. We thought a little baseball practice might be just the thing. I was pretty proud of this shot of Brandon and Chuck getting a few hits in. And then I got the finest troop selfie I've ever shot. There's no improving on this one.1 point

Also, just for the sake of transparency... I'm doing the freakin' slurry on my own suit seams. But I'm doing it for my own interest in accuracy and possible EIB submission, and I'll be documenting the process in my build thread as others have done to try to help future builders. So I have no real personal skin in this game. For me, it's just a logical thing to question (ask me how I feel about rubber gaskets too), and is about recognizing the potential value it may bring to others, even if it doesn't affect me personally. That's dope that the 400 previously approved FOTKs did it, and I'm sure they all look great. I encourage them all to submit for EIB where this requirement belongs.1 point

Hot dang this might be one of the best R1TK's I've seen done yet! Fantastic job! If I may, the only thing of note I would adjust before submitting for approval would be the calves. They appear to have plenty of room towards the top, and you might want to take them in to diminish the gap. Other than that, I'd say you're pretty well set!1 point
