This entry is a personal milestone not recorded on my troop log. I always wanted to visit the Cruachan Dam near Loch Awe after seeing it used as an Imperial facility in the Andor series on Disney plus. So during our summer break I persuaded my family to take the trek with me and enjoy the beautiful scenery from the summit of Ben Cruachan. It was awesome to see this incredible structure built in the 1960s. https://www.visitcruachan.co.uk/2 points

Richard was a fan of life as well as many pop cultures, especially Star Wars, which especially translated over to his Legion Family. If there was an event, Richard could be found in the middle of it, helping others kit up, manning the booth, or seeking out the latest swag to trade. Richard loved his legion family and always made time to talk with current members, sharing memories, or speaking with prospective members, giving advice on where to get costume and prop items or who to talk to, to get build advice. Condolences to his garrison, family and friends "Buckets Off" Dominik Rehm (CT-32723) was a beloved member of German Garrison who started his journey with the 501st Legion as a dedicated cadet supporting the German Garrison, such as the time when he helped to distribute water to troopers at Legoland 2018, or by covering booth duties. He joined the 501st Legion in May 2021, and his first official event was Cosplay Days in Speyer. His debut as a clone of the 327th Star Corps was a smashing success! The German Garrison got to know Dominik as a dedicated member who put his whole heart into Star Wars and the Legion. He built and wore his Clone armor with great passion and enthusiasm. Like many other 327th Clones in Acklay Company, Dominik came to his costume and to our hobby via an Armor Party. He had been looking forward to throwing a big Armor Party at his home in 2022, which would have been the first one after the pandemic. Condolences to his garrison, family and friends "Buckets Off" Greetings and welcome to the July FISD Newsletter! Lots happening again here at FISD HQ with merch runs, competition winners and CRL work continuing. Personally i have been investing my time in building the new CRL's mentioned in last months addition. One of them is currently with the LMO office awaiting feedback for any small changes then hopefully green lit so we can officially add it to the FISD costume roster. As to our newest costume, Imperial Commando or imperial super commando, there are more vendors coming on line with various parts. Looks like 850 Armor works will be the first to have ABS armor kits available, and we are looking forward to seeing their test kit assembled and complete so we can review it. Sheev's Emporium is reworking their under/jump suit with the extra detail garnered from the recent Disney Gallery show release, and one of the 3D vendors has just announced he has the Riot shield files now available for purchase so the accessory list is growing. I will be updating the vendors list in the coming week as I am waiting for some more info from these vendors. Watch this space. With Unquestioned Loyalty Mark Ryner TK-4584 "captsafe66" Fire Team Relations So what exactly are and levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Keep in mind that no question is too small, and that your queries will only be seen by the D.O. Staff. Last night and this evening have been my time to glue together the different pieces of the leg armor. I still had some adjusting to do with the thigh pieces, so I glued the lower leg armor last night. Not surprisingly, my lower legs are a bit bigger than the armor anticipates, so I had to modify the procedure a little. I retained a small amount of the excess material from the molding process and allowed the front part of the lower legs to overlap the respective rear portion. This was glued and held in place with clamps and rare earth magnets. This means each side of the lower leg armor will have 2 seams (the seam where the parts join together and the built-in seam showing where to cut off excess material), rather than just 1 seam, but I can address that with whatever putty I settle on to smooth this out. The big thing for me is to be consistent when I deviate (but only deviate when needed) to keep appearances similar. I think this is the case for most of the femtrooper kits, be they Legacy Fem or FEM7, but I did need to allow the lower leg armor to open slightly to allow my foot and leg to go through, so the seams between my lower legs were not glued. These will utilize velcro to secure the armor pieces around my legs (with the strapping holding them up, of course). I assume that is what the indentations in this part of the lower leg armor is for. I still need to glue the velcro into place. I am now gluing the thigh pieces together. I had to measure, mark, remeasure, and remark a number of times to get this properly measured. I still have some pencil marks that need to be erased... I had to maintain some of the excess material in this are as well, but that was mainly to keep a consistent 2-seam appearance across all leg armor pieces. The other seams of the thigh armor will be glued once the seams shown in the photo set. It looks like this is my weekend project. I am moving quicker than I thought I would!1 point

Troop 6 : Dominic Strong/Children's Hospital support Medicine Hat June 24, 2023 This was my first outdoor troop and my first out of province troop within my garrison. The weather was perfect. We had shade and a nice cool breeze blowing through the area for the two hours the event took place. Four of us, all 501st members this time, with no rebels in sight, attended a baseball game to lend support and draw attention to the Dominic Strong/Children's Hospital fund raising. Not many photos as we had no dedicated handler this time. I'm hoping the organizers can get some photos from the team photographer who spent quite a bit of time around us and share them with us. No wildly interesting stories from this one. We did get a request for photos with "just" the TKs so we felt special for a bit. I took part in a staring contest with a kid who was trying to stare down the shadow trooper. I took the kid's side. It went on a very long time and I'm told many more kids were lined up behind me taking part too. The shadow trooper did win after the kid's friends got bored and dragged him away. I spotted some photo-op stations so we had a go looking like baseball players: The organizers also wanted us to play some crokinole which I played a lot of as a kid, but it was much more difficult this time. The shadow trooper didn't do any better: Here is a FB video as well: Facebook They have been doing this fund raiser for a few years now and have had the 501st for all of them. I would do it again for sure. They even had a BBQ for us before it started so we went in with a full stomach. We TKs sort of blend into the team! A good month to troop number 7 which is local to me so I only need to travel 5 minutes to it! Bart1 point
