[54] 15.07.2023 -- Family party at the military base Kropp My first ever troop at a military base! A recruit at said base had made the troop possible for us. The family party was for the members of the military personnel currently stationed at the base or those who were away but ordinarily stationed there. They had set up a photo booth where visitors could take pictures with us troopers, a stage with music, some kiddie pools, bouncy castles, several games, military vehicles, a range for archery and -- our highlight -- they had alpacas! And although said alpacas weren't very impressed with us, we were absolutely enthusiastic to meet them. Another highlight of mine included the various games where you had to aim. I won against CT-12840 at the axe throwing and the basketball hoops, but we had a draw with the archery, both of us hitting the target twice in three attempts, despite our various limitations. The people at the base were super enthusiastic to see us do all that and lots of kids wanted pictures. So all in all a very fun afternoon! TK-66744 signing off1 point

I use a mini lightsaber to seal the ends. LOL. Overkill but very fun1 point

I normally check the measurements, eye of snap to other eye of snap then deduct 5mm, usually that works for me BUT over time I ended up with a few that were just too long/loose which I've added extra snaps too and I now use these as a measuring device.1 point

That's part of the build figuring out what works. A bit of trial and a bunch of errors to the end. I'm having a build day this weekend. I posted on our local forums. If interested even though you're doing great so far. Keep it up Future Trooper1 point

"Bitten by the bug" happens to many of us, not uncommon to be waiting for shipping of parts for 1, 2 or even 3 costumes, albeit my recent activity was more props for convention displays so waiting for a lot of electronics, but I still have 2 BBB sitting in the wings for when things get quiet 10th year anniversary in the legion last December and still my interest has not diminished, "thank the maker"1 point

I have to say, I haven't been this excited about any sort of lore since I was fascinated by Mass Effect years ago! Right now is a time in my life where I am able to focus on my interests once again, so this has been so much fun working on this armor build and reading up on Star Wars lore! I think it is a really good sign that I am just as fascinated with Star Wars as I was with Mass Effect. I have to take things one step at a time, because I still have this armor to complete, but I have already found myself scheming on another build! Perhaps something that is canon and would be 501st approvable. The Imperial Shock Troopers really interest me...but I shouldn't get ahead of myself. Plenty of time to scheme as I bring my current beloved build to completion! I've been waiting years to bring my FEM7 trooper to life after all!1 point

Pretty much all of the elastic is at different lengths, it's a case of working out the gaps using tape then considering any tightness needed in the elastic to close pieces like AB/Kidney. Many double snap which helps if one snap fails.1 point

Hey Bryan you have done an awesome job! The helmet looks really good in its proportions and you'll be a beautiful Hero!1 point

Regarding the lower ear section, checking others WTF armor builds and EIB and Centurion submissions it looks like this armorer in particular has this detail in the ears armor. Looking to the back view of this helmet and compared to reference , the ears looks ok But if we see the front view, the WTF ear mold is thicker. This is not a issue in any level, and it could be just a suggestion to leave a little gap to make the ear looks thiner. Keep it up1 point

Troop 24 Niagara Falls Comicon Day 3 Niagara Falls , Ontario June 11, 2023 This was the most amazing Comicon Day I ever had. Not as busy as day 2 but so many amazing experiences. While acting as a target for blast a trooper in the morning, our CO asked if I would be willing to be one of the escorts for Giancarlo Esposito after my shift was done. Well - that was a no brainer. We were taken to his room where he was giving his panel and entered as he finished. As we came in, he introduced us as the 501st and went on to tell the audience about the charity work we do. He concluded with “These people are my heroes”. He then came down and took some photos with the group and then shook all of our hands individually. When he came to me, he taped me on the chest piece and said “this here is the real deal’. We then escorted him from the room back through the show floor to his autograph table. He carried our Din Djarin’s dark sabre and called out long live the empire as we walked. I am over his right shoulder Escorting him out of the panel room. preparing for the escort through the convention floor. I am right behind him. After this, we returned to our booth where we were informed that Trish Stratus (WWE wrestler) saw this and wanted 10 of us to do an escort so she could record it and show her instagram biewers how she gets an escort. She also was very gracious and posed for a photo, shook all of our hands and donated an autographed photo for our next Comicon coming up in August. After this, we had planned a TK walk through the convention floor earlier in the day. We suited up with 5 of us and walked the floor. We visited a couple of comic book artists that had mentioned that they were fans of the 501st earlier in the day and made quite the stir as we marched through. At one point Billy Zane (Titanic) stopped us and asked to get a photo. Later on, a few of us went by the celebrity autograph area, I spotted Jerry Mathers (Leave it to Beaver) who I loved to watch daily as a child on TV. There was no one in line, so I approached to tell him how grateful I was for all of the happiness he brought me as a child. He gave me his biggest Beaver Cleaver smile and came out from behind his table to shake all of our hands and get a photo with us. All in all, this was an amazing day all I. Support of Ronald McDonald house. Tons of fun but a very long and tiring weekend. TK-96004 signing off1 point

Troop 23 Niagara Falls Comicon Day 2 Niagara Falls , Ontario June 10, 2023 This Con got better and better every day. Day 2 highlights included taking part in a “Meet the 501st” panel. This was my first panel and our CO asked me if I wanted to attend in costume to answer any questions about the costume making process. This was such a great and interactive experience. Most of the day was spent doing Blast a Trooper and interacting with guests for photos, fist bumps and high fives. Walked the convention floor later in the day and got yo meet one of my heroes, Wendel Clark (former captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs). Finally, this is the end result of taking on 5 kids with Neef blasters at the same time.1 point

I could only find 2 inch wide Velcro at my local haberdashery and I bought the self adhesive kind, although I did sew around the edges so it was more secure. I put the soft part of the Velcro on the right side and the ruff part on the left side (as you wear the belt) which goes on top so that if any of the Velcro shows nothing gets stuck to it. As I had to use 2 inch Velcro when I stuck the thin and thick parts on the belt I offset them against the opposite hook and loop so that the velcro wont be pulled off when I undo the belt. Sew around the edges and there you are, all done. I used poppers to attach everything to the belt including the armour belt, holster and drop boxes to make storage easier and the thermal detonator will be held on using money clips. Finshed and ready for duty.......... end of transmission1 point
