  1. As Glen mentioned, as long as the posts are long enough to fit through all the layers this is an EXCELLENT idea, Tim! (I am SO going to steal it, lol).

  3. If there is enough post to go through it all then you could add it, some snaps have shorter posts than others. Make sure you seal the ends of the nylon too as it can fray quite a lot.

  4. Exactly what I needed guys. I’ve bought all the tools and materials needed for the double snap method so will take your advice. As an additional step, I was going to add some black nylon webbing in the ‘fold’ where the female snaps will be added (see pic for ref). I felt this may help prevent the elastic becoming stretched around the snap hole. Do think this is unnecessary? Sent from The Empire

  5. My name is Sean and I live in Jacksonville, Fl. I just acquired a complete set of ANH stormtrooper armor with the goal of upgrading it to join the 501st. I'm completely new at this and just had the good fortune of coming across the armor. Any assistance would be appreciated, thanks.

  6. Thanks! I definitely should have worked on the placement a little more before riveting. I’ll definitely remember to keep that in mind when working on another kit or I’ll see if there are any fixes I can work on right now.

  7. Photos are a little low on resolution so hard to make out details. One piece that does pop out is the helmet, it's a 3 piece helmet which I have not seen for some years, could be an old NE armor (now AP) This image is from an old NE build, same 3 piece helmet (top left) You can compare other pieces in this build thread I would check with your GML (garrison membership liaison) as to if the helmet will be approvable or not. I would dare say it would be noticed for higher level acceptance here on FISD.

  8. One other thing you might want to try doing is using a heat gun carefully to help the ammo belt shape itself to the bend. Right now at the bottom you see it flares out a little. This is because it’s not used to being bent around the thigh. I made this better on mine by lightly going over the belt with my heat gun, not heating to an extreme of warping or damage, but enough for it to start naturally taking the curved shape on. 9. As Glen pointed, rivets are closer to the corners than the references . It's too important to make a doble check with references prior to glue or affix pieces and I would recommend to check approved Eib and Centurion apllications to see the requested fixes and mods. Keep it up.

  10. Rivets look a tad big but could be as they are a little close to the corners, more a higher level issue though. Note the rivet is also set in the middle of the ridge.

  11. ABS paste is not difficult to make, use some of your plastic scraps and acetone, leave over night. Great thread on the subject here

  12. I finally reached the point where I felt comfortable painting some of the armor pieces! I decided to use Krylon satin white for the armor, and I was a bit overzealous with the paint as I was only able to complete 2 coats by the time I got to the bottom of the can. Fortunately, the paint is pretty cheap! I was able to paint (you guessed it) the chest, back, front and rear torso, and the bottom piece. I'll buy more paint today to continue the process. I may stop after 3 coats, but I won't be surprised if a 4th coat is needed. After that, I will follow up with a satin clear coat and go from there.
