Hello, I am an approved member of the 501st with two approved kits. I purchased some WTF armor and am working towards basic approval. My brother is a GML helping me get it all together. I look forward to joining armored members!2 points

I always recommend I trimmed armor to anyone who is considering getting any. My reasons are as such. - commissioned builds take longer and cost much more - commissioned builds don’t always fit properly and fit is part of approval - untrimmed teaches you how to build and manage armor so that you understand how to make repairs later (which will be needed at some point) - untrimmed allows you to build it uniquely to yourself - untrimmed allows you to learn as you share through a build thread. - untrimmed leaves plenty of leftover plastic so you can make abs paste for repairs later. I’ve seen good commissions before, but in most situations those reasons are why I say to build it from an untrimmed kit Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk2 points

Richard was a fan of life as well as many pop cultures, especially Star Wars, which especially translated over to his Legion Family. If there was an event, Richard could be found in the middle of it, helping others kit up, manning the booth, or seeking out the latest swag to trade. Richard loved his legion family and always made time to talk with current members, sharing memories, or speaking with prospective members, giving advice on where to get costume and prop items or who to talk to, to get build advice. Condolences to his garrison, family and friends "Buckets Off" Dominik Rehm (CT-32723) was a beloved member of German Garrison who started his journey with the 501st Legion as a dedicated cadet supporting the German Garrison, such as the time when he helped to distribute water to troopers at Legoland 2018, or by covering booth duties. He joined the 501st Legion in May 2021, and his first official event was Cosplay Days in Speyer. His debut as a clone of the 327th Star Corps was a smashing success! The German Garrison got to know Dominik as a dedicated member who put his whole heart into Star Wars and the Legion. He built and wore his Clone armor with great passion and enthusiasm. Like many other 327th Clones in Acklay Company, Dominik came to his costume and to our hobby via an Armor Party. He had been looking forward to throwing a big Armor Party at his home in 2022, which would have been the first one after the pandemic. Condolences to his garrison, family and friends "Buckets Off" Greetings and welcome to the July FISD Newsletter! Lots happening again here at FISD HQ with merch runs, competition winners and CRL work continuing. Personally i have been investing my time in building the new CRL's mentioned in last months addition. One of them is currently with the LMO office awaiting feedback for any small changes then hopefully green lit so we can officially add it to the FISD costume roster. As to our newest costume, Imperial Commando or imperial super commando, there are more vendors coming on line with various parts. Looks like 850 Armor works will be the first to have ABS armor kits available, and we are looking forward to seeing their test kit assembled and complete so we can review it. Sheev's Emporium is reworking their under/jump suit with the extra detail garnered from the recent Disney Gallery show release, and one of the 3D vendors has just announced he has the Riot shield files now available for purchase so the accessory list is growing. I will be updating the vendors list in the coming week as I am waiting for some more info from these vendors. Watch this space. The FISD Master Armorer program is an optional, detachment only incentive award to recognize individuals who have directly helped another 501st stormtrooper to achieve Expert Infantry status. Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. To register a “win” in the program, the assistance must have provided hands-on help trimming, building, and/or fitting of said armor for the person who was awarded Expert Infantry status. More information can be found here Want to setup a "Fire Team? the Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion Stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. With Unquestioned Loyalty Mark Ryner TK-4584 "captsafe66" Fire Team Relations So what exactly are and levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Keep in mind that no question is too small, and that your queries will only be seen by the D.O. Staff. Yeah that’s more what I was intending in my previous comment is that the notch wasn’t necessary.1 point

Also, note that these are all for fun. I hope no one who sees these will misunderstand or get their nose out of joint.1 point

CRL L3: Cut-out notches at the bottom of right and left sides of the Kidney Armor are optional. Hi, Every armor maker has some details that make easy or difficult to achieve de more accuracy, I would suggest to add the shims with no cut-out notches As you can see, the cut out is Optional . You can ,(we hope you will do) apply for EIB and Centurion with out it.1 point

I’m not sure exactly which snaps you’re looking at, but I used Tandy leather snaps. For pretty much all my internal rigging I used Line 24 snaps which are sturdier and heavier duty. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point

Looking for some help and suggestions for my ab to kidney plate fitting. I've already figured out I need to add about 2" per side with shims (I thought I was thin!). The notch on the kidney doesn't line up correctly to the ab. Any pointers would be appreciated.1 point

Progress for the week: Left side rivets installed and did a bit of interior bracing (sadly, it looks like the placement of the brace shifted a little while it was curing; oh well) Working on interior rigging underway Trimmed up the shoulder straps some more and adhered them This week's goal Complete interior rigging system & elastic connectors Test fit torso Order belt, holster & neck seal1 point

Clamps and magents are the way to go, make small adjustments, I find using bolts rather than rivets helpful as you can adjust the bolts, rivets you are pretty stuck unless you carefully remove them. Although not a requirement DO"s suggest this for ear placement: The "ideal" ear placement is as seen below, where the screws line up with the rear angle of the trap right above it. Because some armorers design their helmets differently or send them pre-assembled this is not always possible to achieve, but it is suggested that you try to get as close as you can. Note: Top ear screws should ideally be located directly below the rear of the trap. A great thread on fitting ears, making the notch on top of the ear can be of great help reducing gaps1 point
