I built mine and was approved in a week, it can be done, depending on how much time you have and your abilities as well as how much research you do. I had a 6 month wait for ATA armor and I did A LOT of research ready to build it, as well as A LOT of build from scratch blasters, these were the pre 3D printer days, everything was hands on. Yes the cost is a major factor as well but if it's something you really want to do many will find a way. Now excuse me I've only had one coffee so I may dribble a bit: It can come down to research, in my 10 years we have seen a BIG move to facebook, people post "I want this costume" and within minutes someone posts info or shares a link BUT I don't see much of a follow up with "how to build". When I joined you had to search for information, I mean really research, some found a local 501st group or found he FISD forum but even then you still had to research to find the information on the forum to purchase armor and to build it. The amount of people that do find their way here but still won't research amazes me, we have areas on the forums for each of our costumes, yes some can be hard to find depending on what particular section you are building but even when posting information, photos and links to a build thread some still post the same questions when the answers are already posted. We have a "search" function and a "gallery" area and our forum but little seem to use them. You only have to type in a few common words into the search box to be able to find information, you can also do this one google, type in key words and add "whitemarmor" to the search, you can also search in images, you'd be amazed what can be found. Don't get me wrong I am here to help and I'm not complaining it just seems to me with the rise of Facebook and the ease to find things on social media some aren't equipped to do research, many buy on a whim and never bother assembling the armor as it's just too hard. People purchase a costume for many reasons, some not understanding what is involved, some don't have tool experience, some get bored, some are too busy, some even when approved find being a member and wearing a costume is just not for them. When I started we'd have 10 or more Stormtroopers at a convention, these days it's lucky we have just one or two, some have gone on to other things but some complain the Stormtrooper is too uncomfortable, I find the opposite, it a great support as I have quite a few medical issues and the armor helps me stay upright and for longer. Seeing 10 or more Stormtroopers marching together is a wonderous sight and still gives me goosebumps, just a shame I no longer see that here and our numbers have dropped. I must admit I'm not better though, I love my Stormtrooper costumes unfortunately I'm just not wearing them enough, I built my Din Djarin just because it's time relevant and it's what the public wants to see and do request, I don't think many think of that reason when deciding on a costume, what the public wants to see. No matter how many screams I here of "Mando, Mando" or "Grogu, Grogu" I get more satisfaction wearing my TK and seeing younglings dressed up in Stormtrooper costumes wanting a photo with you or even saying "your my favourite" still brings a smile to my face, even if it's not seen Anyway Tie Reserves and Bridgecrew are a pretty cheap option to gain access to the legion so it's no wonder their numbers have increased, is it indicative of what the public want to see, NOPE, shinny and white is still the most requested costume5 points

Nice work, good to see this come to fruition. Be good to see some more skins or images from the actual game or from an official source, looking at the drawings from Fernando on Artsation most of the images show a flat/straight pauldron but when you look at the game/action character the pauldron appears curved, more so when moving Take this image Compared to In the physical world this straighter appearance would not be able to move or curve out of a foam, unless it was layered I'd guess. from 2.34 in this video shows the curvature pretty well also this reference I'll have a hunt around for some game skins when I have some time2 points

Please see below the links for four CRL's FISD currently has under construction and discussion. If we managed to get any more under way, they can also be added to the active WIP list. It is awesome to see that we have members working hard towards some exciting new additions to the detachments roster that will aid in further growing and enticing members to our friendly home. These are what we have, and if you have input or can assist these members in bringing their dreams to reality, please feel free to participate in the build threads. Commander Pyre almost at the finish line. Artillery Trooper NOW APPROVED, CRL IN LIBRARY. Imperial Commando (The Mandalorian) Lt. Gauge (games based character) built to realistic vision. Captain cardinal TBC.1 point

Hey everyone! Today I want to introduce a kinda different WIP. Realistic Commander Pyre I dont know yet, if this will ever be CRL ready, but I still want to do it. After doing a damn nice Captain Phasma last year, I need a chrome dome for myself. There is actually a „deeper“ meaning behind that project. I mean, a freakin gold chrome Stormtrooper is damn cool on its own. But when I found out, that Mr. Liam McIntyte voiced him, I NEEDED to do that costume. I’m a huge fan of Liam’s work, his role in Spartacus in particular. When we first back in 2013 and I had the luck to talk to him for like 30 minutes behind the stage. He told me there how much he’d love to do something for Star Wars. Which happened and I am really happy for him. Liam is definetly one of the nicest celebrities I ever met, he is super down to earth and just an amazing human being. And when I contacted him, if he’d like to see the costume project, he was amazed and wanted to see it. And well. He supports it with video messages. Like. WHAAAAT! In all seriousness, I’m hyped, super happy and super motivated to get this costume done. I used a Phoenix Props TFA style helmet as a base, got it painted in gloss black and got it gold chromed in the UK. The problem I have is mixed ref. In the animated series, Pyre has black bands around the helmet, but theres no black brow present (also not at the normal TFA TKs) . The realistic HASBRO figure has NO black brow and NO black bands. So thats kinda .. mixed. If necessary for CRL, I'll need to get it chromed again, but for now, I'll leave it like that. I actually like it with the black details as it gives more contrast. There's also a YouTube video of the making, including Liams message. I have an ANOVOS pauldron in red, but need it in black. Either I find someone, who's willing to trade or sell, or Im going to paint the red in black. Further, I have an old BETA Anovos First Order TK armor set. Pyre is technically a generic TFA TK, although there are some minor changes, like 2 bars at both lower leg armor. All the best Dino1 point

Hello ladies and gentlemen! I'm Tristan from germany. I'm have my roots in building and painting boba fett armor and especially helmets and now discovered my love to stormtrooper helmets. My first was a rs kit and it was a great fun to build and paint it. Then I get a beautiful da props hdpe kit and I was addicted :-D. now I try to discover new makers and techniques because all of that stuff is so exciting and awesome in my opinion! I'm looking forward to work with you guys n gals! Thanks for looking and take care, Tristan1 point

Awesome! Will do! I’ll make sure I pull the thigh up more. I should be able to easily get it to fit after trimming some more of the return edges so I can fit it height up on my leg.1 point

I'll defer to the team and it's not a hill I'm willing to die on. The armor underneath is clearly TFA era, so the existing TFA CRL should be a great base, but we're just not going to be able to confirm many things based on the game graphics, so why would we include anything that would hold anyone to an artificial standard that we can't prove using the source material? Is there enough 360* clear imagery to warrant a CRL? I say heck yes. Is there enough detail to include ALL of the criteria from the TFA FOTK CRL? I would say no. And I would argue that the source material is meant to be "realistic". This is not an "animated" style or a style of armor that is specific to the game. The game is clearly intending to replica TFA era realistic movie armor within the best abilities of their graphics capabilities. It should be a slightly easier version of the TFA FOTK, but add the pauldron and visor. I know Endor Finders was offering white palms at one point, but that render was not in color. I suspect the palm stitching is black. But I couldn't prove it to you with a clear image from the game, so.... Spot on - they're painted with the same rattlecan Rust-Oleum Heritage Red satin paint. I am starting with a "clean" version (and will likely submit as a TFA FOTK first) and then will add light weathering for submission of Gauge once I've confirmed with the LMOs that substantive changes are not absolutely required. The character designer has confirmed that the curvature of the pauldron is an artefact during gameplay and that a soft leather should be an ideal material, similar to the Denuo Novo FOTK pauldrons. Mine should soften up a bit more with wear but there's no reason to make this any harder than it needs to be. I will attempt to replicate the game character as faithfully as possible, but there will be limitations when we are replicating a source material that isn't real world, and I accept that.1 point

I've been summoned! Welcome to FISD, Tristan. That sounds like a lot of armor -- if you ever want some feedback, to simply chat about armor or you want to share your progress, you're in the right place. Looking forward to seeing you around EDIT: just saw your newest comment. Iron Motion is a German TK vendor who supplies many of the Garrison's TKs1 point

Welcome, Tristan! Awesome to see you’ve explored various Euro-based armor makers! If you want additional diversity, you could also try RWA from the UK, and then I think there are also some prominent makers in Spain and Germany too! I do still need to finish my own DA Props Hero helmet sometime. I’m sure Luca will be around here soon to comment as well! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Ultimately, there isn't anything sad for FISD about this news, we know our costumes aren't cheap. As Glen mentioned, we are by far and above, the most requested character at events and troops and predominantly our members have to build/assemble our costumes rather than have them made by someone else. Our costumes take time and plenty of care to not only construct, but also maintain to get the best life out of them, and we relish in polishing our armour before troops. There is a lot to be very very proud of when it comes to our catalogue of costumes, loads to be very happy about and not to forget we have no less than four new to legion costumes currently under construction along with their CRL preparation. Just look at the motivation this whole event has created for us, and with these new costumes on top, even more will become Stormtroopers. So turn that frown upside down and get cracking on your new TK today1 point

I may be wrong but I believe it normally works the other way for "realised suits" based on movie start points. You take the movie CRL and adjust only what you can demonstrate to be different. This is remove stuff you can't tell either way because of some limitation such as graphics, or camera angles. Tbh for some items it's sort of academic, like you're not going to see shoulder seams under that pouldron. So unless you want to dual clear (please do and juice the the numbers a little) as a TFA it wouldn't overly matter. The gloves, can you even get white stitched at the moment? Doesn't seem like it's worth worrying about vs TFA. That is unless we are saying they *should* be white in which case we'd want to flip the CRL, so basic and probably EIB black sticking is okay but cor Centurion you'd need white. As for the rest, keeping in line with the TFA seems reasonable. Means you can't build something you then can't clear as a plain TFA if wanted, though in reality I expect most Guage builders would be starting from a cleared TFA and adding the visor, pouldron and so on. I do have some pragmatic thoughts on the gaskets for Centurion, the main one being there are few sellers and from what I understand horrible to wear.1 point

Great to see all of the improvements you have made. Just a couple of things you could tweak, but ultimately they would be up to our DL @Sly11 Position of the pack, could be a touch higher References showing it's positioned just under the circle detail on the top right of the back plate and just under the shoulder strap mounts. The sides of your chest and backplate, not sure if you can pull the chest up any higher, notice the sides don't meet and are on quite a large angle One thing I hadn't noticed before (I may have and forgot) was the thigh cover strips on the rear, they angle inwards towards the top1 point

[52] 03.06.2023 -- NordCon Hamburg This was the first time the 501st appeared at this small local con -- and the con thought it was just a rumor. Despite clearing everything in advance, they were surprised to see us actually appear. We still got a changing room set aside for us and we were ready to go. The three of us arrived a bit early, so we could run around as Pride Troopers before the actual event start. However, the visitors (many of which were part of the LGBTQ+ community themselves) liked us so much, it was decided that we could continue as Pride Troopers for the rest of the event. I only removed the flag-cape after a while because as much as I liked the Phasma-esque look, I wanted to have a bit more mobility than the flag would grant me. We explored the convention, had some fun on the playground, entertained the visitors and were invited to join the swordfight. Still dealing with the aftermath of the troop in Mölln (#50), where we had lost at that exact same swordfight game, we gracefully declined. One devastating loss was as much as our pride could endure. We rather explored the fantasy world of the convention a bit more. TK-66744 signing off1 point

Odd fact: Just learned yesterday that although Carrie Fisher and James Earl Jones had roles in the O.T that they never actually met in person until 2014 during the taping of a "The big bang theory" episode.1 point

They can have their moment, in my state TKs get more high fives and cuddles than the NotVaders, and that’s all that matters [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

TIE reserve. That’s the reason. One of the most cost-effective ways to get into the Legion. But in reality I’m sure there are a myriad of reasons. Old guard TKs retiring, new TV shows bringing new fun kits in other detachments. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
