10/26/22 Make A Wish Trunk R Treat TK Troop 33 (30 for the year, 6 in my HWT) CDZ-5435's 11th troop I'll be honest, I see "Make A Wish" on a troop title and I sign up. I'm not sure how this one was a MAW troop, as it seemed like a regular trunk-r-treat, but it was still a very good time. Lots of super-done-up cars, tons of candy, and many very happy kids. Yes, I missed. Missed again. Then my daughter made me pick it up. Even APD had a trunk in attendance. We posed. I knelt. I'm addicted to kneeling now. It was my first troop with the pack in full Kenobi mode with the lights and blaster and antenna My Jedi buddy James agreed, it looks super cool. I *felt* super cool. Having the pack I really wanted is super satisfying. My daughter and I clowned around all night. We gave away candy, she stole it back and re-gifted. Lots of smiles. My favorite bit of the evening didn't get a photo. There was a little FOTK and a little Vader in attendance. We escorted them around for a while. They seemed to super enjoy having their own TK and Jawa escorts. I did my standard thing of "MAKE WAY FOR LORD VADER!!! DARK LORD OF THE SITH COMING THROUGH!!! YOU DO NOT WANT TO GET FORCE CHOKED!" and got lots of laughs from kids and trunk workers alike. Though I couldn't see, I know Vader had a huge smile under his bucket as the trunks HEAPED candy into his bag. I sure had a matching smile under mine. --------------------------------- 10/28/22 - Haunted Death Star Halloween AM TK Troop 34 - 31 for the year, and back to my ANH Stunt setup A school across town had a Star Wars theme for their Friday Halloween festivities. One of the teachers is a member. We had seven (Celina as a rebel pilot taking this pic and another teacher as white dress Leia who was not RL) in our group. We welcomed the kids to school at drop off, inspected their pumpkins and deserts, hassled the parents for their identification, and generally made an Imperial nuisance of ourselves. Tons of smiles, photos, and fist bumps. A couple of the class pumpkin projects that kids were carrying inside past us. The little pine cones in the Falcon clamshell are wookies. Super adorable. One class did baby Yoda punkins. They got the blaster. Then we visited classrooms for most of an hour. SO MUCH FUN!!! I brought a bunch of stickers and handed them out to the kinder and first grade classes. The more well mannered classes got to come up, give high fives, and take class pix with the funny plastic spacemen. One class had a little Vader. I *love* when there's a little Boss to pose with!!! My TK heart grows 10 sizes. The above shot is one of my favorite troopy pix ever. Kneeling, y'all. It's the next level after Centurion. Though it doesn't seem like a huge and important event - just welcoming kids to school and going in some classrooms - but it was SO much fun. It was up there with the best troops I've done in the past year. I'm so happy I got up early today to do it.4 points

Hi troopers! My name is Arief from Garuda Garrison Indonesia. I'm resuming my ANH Stunt TK build after 3 years hiatus and hopefully, I can finish it by the end of this year. I have an ATA kit and it's mostly trimmed from my last session. I've been looking at the HOW TO threads in the forum and making good progress from the available resources. Looking forward to troop proudly with the armor.2 points

Went to the zoo last Sunday, got to meet some members of the 501st and rebel legion! Was definitely a cool experience. Took my rebel helmet as candy bucket again Officer in this pic let me hold his se-14. penguins! Got a lot of compliments on the costume, as well as a lot of kids pointing and saying “Star Wars guy!” Lol. Very fun overall, but also very tiring being in the suit for a few hours. also added some greeblies and panels to the hengstler counter on the rubies blaster to make it a little more accurate and nicer looking. They’re make of polystyrene sheet, and the clear piece i just cut from something random I had. Going to add silver and bronze weathering, debating on if I should add a little dirt or not. Before greeblies greeblies after greeblies this next piece here I had to heat gun then flatten with a book to glue it right since it was slightly curved and much thicker and wider than the other pieces. The clear piece is over the numbers sticker, I used e-6000 for that one. The rest I just superglued, then touched up with some extra black paint to cover up the superglue leaking out.1 point

Hi Jan and welcome to FISD. Regarding your question, a recent change to the ANH Hero CRL for Level 2 clarifies better this point : CRL L2: Correct Aerators/Hovi-MIX tips are present. Screens used shall be of a wide type mesh. The rim of the mic may be weathered, and the inside raised area painted white. Interior sides shall be painted black, mesh can also be painted black. According to that: - You can use the rim of the mic painted black or weathered - The inside raised area (not all inside) must be painted white References1 point

After long overdue, finally we can set an Armor Party again, now in Arief's place. "Measure twice, cut and glue just once" like Mario said, especially currently ATA works unavailable until further notice, so its hard to get replacement parts if you make mistakes.1 point

It looks like you are at the very limit (blue arrows) on how low you should take the mobility cuts on the rear of the calves, so I wouldn't go any further down. You can remove the tops of the cover strips so they don't stick out, but note that the left inside is looking a bit out of alignment with outside, so take this into consideration. Although they are permissible at all levels when done correctly, unless you need them I am not a fan of mobility cuts, but that's just me. If you do need them I would try to make them as shallow as possible.1 point

He loved Star Wars, and we were requested to guard his casket during the service. We did not take photos nor did we think it appropriate to ask for any. THIS WAS THE HARDEST TROOP I HAVE EVER DONE. I had a flood of emotions and was grateful I was wearing a helmet to mask my tears. I hate cancer.1 point

I FINISHED IT!!! I've got a bunch of pix to put up and will try to sound coherent whist being excited to have the HWT pack I saw on Kenobi. (totally geeking out here) I sourced all my parts from amazon. I know there's better places, but this was the easiest for me. I work a lot so just getting to hit an order button on one site really helped. I couldn't find everything in 5v, so I settled on 12v lights. I figured I could make the power work easier than finding 5v pilot lights and toggles. LEDs are easy but those pilot lights are a pain. Pilot light: The "Keenso" red 4 pack is a match for the lamps used in Kenobi. 12 volt, about $6.50. They bulbs are not held in those metal housings very firmly. I added a bit of glue to each internally. Toggle switch: I absolutely hate the ones I got, but they match the screen used pack. This is the "Twidec" 8 pack SPST. 12 volt, about $10. If anyone else builds a Kenobi pack, try to get a switch that has a screw mount on the back. Mine clip on and would not stay in place on my thick radio box. I had to cut off the clip mounts to keep the switches from pushing themselves out and glue them in place. Easy, but annoying. LEDs: Any white LED will work. These are 3mm "Edgelec" in a 20 pack for $7. Pre-wired, non-flashing, 12 volt. All the white ones in my parts bin were 5v, so I had to buy these. The Kenobi pack has a whip antenna, so I needed one too. Metra 14" universal. It's not lightweight either, but it seems to be the exact one used. (About $19) I removed my printed blocking plate and used the round one that came with the antenna. It's a lot more sturdy than my printed one and covers all but one hole. I set the printed one aside in a bag with the screws for reinstallation in the future if I needed. And yeah, the base got sanded to match the pack shape before I finished the project. I held the laser cut fascia on with just a few dots of E6000 so that I could peel it off later for this purpose. I glued some speaker cloth over the radio face. I have tons of it from my daughter's jawa kit and like the look of the radio having a speaker element. This isn't on the Kenobi pack, but seemed like a worthwhile small addition. Er... the dremel slipped and I cut a bunch. Oops. Actually, this was planned. I want sound to be able to escape from the radio box, so I cut some ports to be hidden by the speaker cloth. Speaker cloth and fascia reinstalled. Switches!!! installed. And I figured out a decent mounting method for my Disney Parks radio knobs. I want the knobs to still be able to spin like the 3D printed ones could. A 2" machine screw is long enough to let the knob mount to the radio surface. I double nutted the screw near the top so that the knobs could spin without unscrewing the hardware. Inside the case, the screws are held in with nyloc bolts to prevent loosening. Three LEDs per knob. Overkill? Very likely. But I have all of these LEDs and I need to get enough load to prevent my power supply from shutting down by itself... Nine LEDs on the radio itself will help that. I drilled things and made a wiring harness for the inside of the pack. This connects the red lights on top of the vent and button box as well as the two white LEDs on the drop siphon. I glued it in place along the outer edges of the pack to prevent the straps from bothering things. Near the internal LED connection, the wiring harness has some metal worm clamps holding them in place. Here's the finished internal radio box. I spent WAAYYYYY too long running these wires, but I'm nearly as proud of this as I am of the whole pack. Nine LEDs worth of wiring and the pack's internal wiring harness all got neatly sorted and tucked, allowing the radio box to be opened without being a rat's nest. The power pack is a "TalentCell" 12v 3000mAh tiny guy from amazon. It weighs 400g and can power both 12v and 5v. It has an on/off switch (hiding behind the plug in this shot) to turn the pack on and off. It should run the pack for a couple days before needing a recharge. It was about $28. I've also got a little Bluetooth speaker velcro'd inside. It won't live in here permanently, but I wanted to see how it works. Spoiler: AMAZINGLY!!! The hollow interior of the radio box gives everything a slightly more tinny sound. The TK Chatter loop sounds super authentic coming out of this. Stupid loud too. And lastly, I added expanded metal to the face plate cut out holes. Whilst wiring things up I nearly put my stupid finger through that speaker cloth at least five times. I know it would have been punctured accidentally on a near-future troop. Some mesh protection seemed to be in order. And as a bonus, it looks super cool from the front when the light happens to hit it. The last bit I needed was the Imperial Cog for on top of the wipe box. I lasered this tiny 40mm guy out from the same acrylic I used on the radio face plate. It's delicate but securely glued to the top and away from harm. Hopefully it won't shatter right away... or ever? And here it is... my finished Kenobi pack. Daylight with power off. Blaster side. I used 3 strips of velcro tape to keep the blaster from moving around. Top. You can almost see the wipe bottle cog and my reshaping of the antenna base. In the dark garage with lights on!!! I wanted this since July. It's SO satisfying to have it. And with that, I think this build is complete. My first troop with it is tomorrow evening at a Make-A-Wish trunk or treat. If I get a good photo, I'll post.1 point

10/15/22 - Walk to End Alzheimer's TK 89400 - 32nd cumulative TK troop, 4th HWT TI-50597 - #4 CLOR-5435 - puppy handler Mabel - Troop #1. No need to describe this troop. An excellent cause, as Alzheimer's runs in my family. My WHOLE family made this troop. Since it was nearby, low stress, and very open to our 4 footed companions, Mabel suited up with her little TK mount and trooped with us. No, I didn't make a HWT pack just for this. Really. Really. With my buddy Joseph in one of his original suits (he's over 900 troops). In memory of Reenie, a garrison mate and TIE pilot who recently passed. Many flowers on our packs and armor. The little troop did well. I used my rubber DLT to help me achieve a personal first - kneeling!!! No damage to knee or armor. Mabel thought it was pretty sweet too. With the Jr. ROTC group. They *loved* our rubber blasters. Just a TK and his dog. Nothing to see here. Move along.1 point

10/14/22 - Charity Gala 31st cumulative TK troop! TI-50597 - #3 CDZ-(CLOR!!!) 5435 - #10 This was a charity gala event to benefit Veterans Integration Center and a local animal rescue (Watermelon Mountain Ranch). It was also my daughter's debut of her new Little Leia costume. She seems to be the 2nd in the GA, with the first possibly being the actual actress. She was SO happy. (I'm behind her, and her mom is far left) The plan was to have a Carrie Fisher birthday photo with all of the local Leias, but we only had General Organa and Little Leia in attendance... so I did what I had to do. My wife (trooped with the TIE bucket at the actual gala) also helped out. Expect more HR troops from her. She loved joining Dolores's HR team. Unfortunately, my fellow TKs did not take kindly to the buns and I was disciplined. They had a photo booth at the gala. We invaded after the gala denizens were though posing with us. I think we need photobooths at every event from now on. These physical booth prints are hanging proudly on my blaster wall. Securing the area... ... for photos with the boss! Bonus pix Her approval photo. I'm so proud of the outfit. Figuring out what actual colors everything was on screen took WORK. She could be a stunt double if she wasn't about a foot taller than the actress. HR Rep Livia is reporting to a garrison near you. "DON'T MAKE THE JOKE DAD!!! JUST DON'T!!!" lol lol lol1 point

NEW In Memoriam Detachment Leader Deployment Office Merchandise Hall of Fame Just For Laughs Around the Detachment INFORMATION & AWARD PROGRAMS Common FISD Acronyms and TK Glossary Pre Approval Forum 3D Section Field Exercise Award Imperial Attaché Program Fire Teams EIB & Centurion: What do these terms mean? Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD André Düvel TX-7683 passed away earlier this year, after a long battle with illness. André participated enthusiastically in German Garrison events for many years in his Shadow Trooper, Royal Guard, and Staff Officer. He was a helpful, open person, who welcomed everyone and reached out unreservedly to all. He was always available with advice and support. His Garrison members have many fond memories of troops and social gatherings with him. He will be remembered as a passionate Trooper, an avid Star Wars collector, and cosplayer. The loss of André has left a deep void in the ranks of the German Garrison, and he will be greatly missed. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" On the morning of 21st August, Chris "Hot Rod" Scott ST-10772 joined the big Death Star in the sky surrounded by family and friends, with the Star Wars movies playing so he could hear them. Hot Rod was a valued member of Korriban Squad in Iowa. He was part of many visits to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital, appeared on stage with Weird Al in 2019, and many more. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" On the morning of August 23, 2021, we lost Marea Anselmo Gardella (ID-9541). Her passing was unexpected, and she is dearly mourned by the Everglades Squad and the Florida Garrison. Marea joined the 501st Legion in May 2008, shortly after her husband, Ryan Gardella. Her nephew, Matthew Anselmo, is also a member who joined in 2010. While she didn’t troop as much as her husband and nephew, when she did, you knew she was there by her infectious smile and welcoming personality. Marea was constantly thinking about others before herself and it showed at every event she attended. There is so much more that could be said about what a kind, compassionate, and caring person Marea was. Alongside the rest of her family, she exemplified the core communitarian and familial values that characterize Everglades Squad; her memory will live on through her family-- both genetic and of the Legion. Our condolences go out to her family, friends. "Buckets Off" Suddenly, it's September, and although many around the galaxy are in various stages of lock down and pandemic related restrictions, it is good to hear stories emerging of more and more troops occurring. Slowly but surely we are getting back to something that resembles a little bit of normal. I hope this trend continues to improve and allow us once again to be the bad guys doing good out there in our communities. This month I would simply like to discuss a few updates vs our detachment plan to keep everyone in the loop. Firstly, the 15th anniversary coins have finally shipped from the supplier and are on their way to the US. Hopefully they arrive soon after this news letter goes live and James can start the huge task or sorting and shipping out to everyone. The newest version of EI coins has also shipped out, so all those who have been patiently waiting to get their one-off, numbered and exclusive Expert infantry coin will not have much longer to wait. Announcements for both these coins will be made in their relevant areas on the forums once they are received and the shipping commences. A big shout out to all the troopers that have sent in photos for the anniversary special project. Wow, wow, wow, there are some truly beautiful images from around the world, and with over 300 submitted, it's going to be a challenge for the staff to sort through and categorize these snap shots in time. We can't wait to give you the bigger picture on the project, and when that time comes we also hope everyone will be as excited as we are. Many of our set plans for this term have been completed. The clean up still continues and will do for a while yet, but once it is complete you can expect to see a few more minor changes happening in a section or two of the forums. Updates on that will come closer to the launch time. Merch remains a topic of discussion, in our planning, but recently I have received a few messages from members asking when the next Detachment shirt run will be. The easiest way to give you an answer on this is to look at the bigger picture when it comes to shirt runs. As a rule, we do this type of merch about every 2 years. The last run was still ongoing into April 2020 with a few members waiting on reprint shirts due to errors etc. That would put the next run in the vicinity of April next year, but fear not, you won't have to wait until then. FISD shirt runs are HUGE!!, up to and over 800 pieces, so finding a member that is willing to put the time and effort into helming a run of this nature is not an easy task. Ultimately a shirt run will pivot on someone stepping up to the plate to facilitate one. Another major point to consider is the fact Celebration is an apparent go again for 2022. It was scheduled for August but has since been brought forward to May 26th-29th 2022. We would like to align the next shirt run with the advent of Celebration Anaheim, as we have for Celebration events in the past, therefore the best timing would be early in 2022, and most possibly kicking that off in January. There are decisions to be made when it comes to the design as well. Do we keep the current version, do we add something for the 15th anniversary year, or do we have a totally new design. This will come under staff discussion in the near future and once we are finished discussing the next merch item we are bringing you, and the current coins have been distributed. More updates to come on that, but if you are interested in helming a merch run for the detachment it comes with a couple of perks in itself. 1. You find out before the rest of membership, what that item is. 2. You get yours first. 3. You get the merch item for free as we always gift one to the person who makes the run a reality for everyone. So you see there are many considerations that go into planning such a task as a shirt run because detail is more important on these runs than most others. If any of our members are interested in stepping up earning some Kudos and detachment praise, please know my door is always open to discuss the in's and out of what needs to be done in helming a merch run for FISD. More merch to come before then so watch this space.
