  1. Hello all. I am super excited to be here. I have been wanting to join the 501st for years and am now in a position I feel I can dedicate the time. Here is a bit about me: Full Name: Brad E Nick name: Brad or Chef (that is my callsign) Physical Location (City and State only): Fredericksburg, VA Costume you have or will be making/obtaining: I want to make a TK Stormtrooper first, then possibly an Imperial Officer. Garrison or Outpost, Garrison or Outpost name: Garrison Tyranus What does Star Wars mean to you? I have grown up with Star Wars and it has always been a part of my life. My parents took me to see Return of the Jedi in the theaters (albeit I was 4 and don't remember it). I have always loved the movies, the special effects, and the story. I don't think there is a better cast of characters and portrayal of the good vs evil saga. Now that I have a kiddo of my own, I love sharing the movies and characters with her, and it is so fun to hear her talk about favorite movies, shows, and characters. What are your hobbies or interests? I love to paint, cook, and bike. How did you discover/first hear of the 501st? I don't remember, but it was a while ago. Anything else fun for your introduction to the group? Looking forward to getting started and involved.

  2. I jumped ahead with the build again. Sorry. I'll post the rest of my pack build pix in the near future. But I suited up for basic approval today!!!! I flat out hate the standard wipe bottle. I just hate it. I'm hoping to use the Meguiar's oval wipe bottle for my whole approval through centurion. I hope. It's heavy. It's hot. It's clunky. I LOVE IT. I have a week of LFL troops ahead or I'd be weathering this and going for Centurion. I need to be clean to still troop my ANH Stunt for the Balloon Fiesta events though...

  3. As per the new requirement of having a white rim on the HOVI tips for the Hero, here comes new images of exactly that! I wanted to mimic the look of black paint having been worn off, so that's why I haven't slapped on a big blotch on there! This will do I reckon? @Chemi

  4. Looking great Karl, best of luck! As someone else who had the same issue with the RS sniper plate position, the directions Jonatan gave above are the way to go. The difficulty isn't too bad, it just takes a little patience. I soaked my knee plate in warm (not hot) salt water to help loosen up the glue that RS uses. Keep up the good work!

  5. Arts Alive 2022! at Hylton Performing Arts Center (Sep 11, 2022) -Garrison Tyranus, Inferno (NOVA) Squad We hung out in our private dressing room for a while and then went backstage. After the Indiana Jones theme, the orchestra performed several Star Wars themes, beginning with Duel of the Fates! On the Imperial March, we went on stage and loomed over the audience! At its end, a boy in Jedi robes came out and we fled the stage. We hung out up front for pics with patrons and performers. My first troop is in the books!

  6. Penny Wars 3rd Grade Celebration at Covington-Harper Elementary School (Sep 30, 2022) -Garrison Tyranus, Inferno (NOVA) Squad The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) for Covington-Harper Elementary School (CHES) hosted a Penny Wars fundraiser where students, families, faculty, and staff donated to plus-up their group's jar or to reduce another group's. At the end of the week, 3rd grade won and earned a special glow dance party! About 150 kids in 6 classes came in for high fives, pictures, lightsaber battles, and some good old running around! It was only for 30 minutes, but the 3 of us (1 TK and 2 NOT Vaders) were DRENCHED IN SWEAT. Not posting pics/vids of the event to respect the children's privacy. We high fived them on the way out and then went classroom to classroom delivering glowsticks to the other grades. The audible gasp when we walked into each room is why we do this, right?

  7. GAH! I did forget to weather the pauldron. Gonna go do that literally now. thanks for the kind words y'all!!! Caleb: If you use the eye shadow weathering technique the boots clean right up. I dirtied the heck out of mine when I did a desert shoot and they wiped clean with some soap. No lasting effects. Though I still looked shiny compared to my Sandy buddy.

  8. Hello Karl. Just to keep people updated...We have included a new "point" in the required information (application header). It is necessary to include a link to the 501st website showing the approved armor for which the EIB is being requested. (I have already included it).

  9. Super helpful hints! Thanks for taking the time to help out this newbie! I'm going to have to retake my pics because i used a filter to get better color on my pics(the lighting in my house is not great lol).

  10. Amazing job on that pack, brother. Weathering is spot-on- not too much, not too little. Maybe a little black on the pauldron as well?

  14. Thank you for the feedback and advice. I've looked over the list of changes required and they all seem doable. I'm very busy with work right now so it may take a couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

  16. I have boots. Right now feeling a bit PTSD over it and the disco flashbacks. I ordered one size larger as per everything I read and I think I could have just went with my normal size. They are a tad big but my orthotics fit in fine and that was my biggest worry. I don't think some gel inserts will be a bad idea so the extra space will be good. I have a blaster too, but am too afraid to open the box. It's getting too close to really feeling real now. Bart
