NEW Detachment Leader Merchandise & Officer Hall of Fame Just For Laughs Update Your Build Threads Around the Detachment INFORMATION & AWARD PROGRAMS Common FISD Acronyms and TK Glossary Pre Approval Forum 3D Section Field Exercise Award Imperial Attaché Program Master Armorer Award Fire Teams EIB & Centurion: What do these terms mean? Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD Greetings all We have plenty going on in this edition and lots happening on the forums for September. Our next merch item has an interest thread running so please check out the details further down from our DMBO James. Remnant TK CRL discussion thread is alive and looking for input. It is already loaded with great reference images and full blown discussion on how the CRL should read, plus we have members looking to build this dirty version of TK. Obviously a CRL can't go live without the all important costume ready to model and take photos of so all the written words mean nothing without someone willing to build the costume first. If this interests you, please get involved. The LMO team need everything ready to green light a new CRL or a major update so without you, there is no CRL. It is amazing to also see how much work goes into this process so go visit the thread and see how this one is unfolding. You can find the thread here On behalf of the staff, I would like to Congratulate our latest 3D award recipient TK61490 TheRascalKing (Justin) Justin has also just completed his qualifying assists for our Master armourers program so a double congrats to you sir. Don't forget these are open to all members that meet the specific qualifications for each program. They promote troopers giving back and helping in our community, you could be our next recipient! We are always looking for new content and ideas for our monthly newsletter, so If there is anything you would like to see included please reach out to gmrhodes13 or myself to discuss. See you on the forums. With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK-11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader INTEREST THREAD FISD HOODIE The Members Choice Merch Item is currently listed as an Interest Thread here! Please check in and give us an idea of how many you would be interested in! We are closing the Interest Thread on 21 Sept 2022. The plan is to open the Sales Thread on 25 Sept 2022 as long as LFL has approved our item. Please remember that this is just and interest thread to help us gauge the number of items we need to get approved for. There will be an actual Sales or Run Thread that you will need to check out and place your order on. Also, I'm soliciting designs for future merch. Items would include, but not limited to, coins, T-Shirts and patches. If you have design ideas, or other merch items, you might like to see, please DM me your ideas so we can discuss future FISD items. With Unquestioned Loyalty James Silvius TK-12953 "jsilvius" Merchandise & Branding Officer Hall of Fame – Terrell Reber TK1787 "SuperTrooper" There are some nominations to the FISD Stormtrooper Hall of Fame that, due to the extraordinary contributions of a member make the ratification what is commonly known as a “no brainer”, and it is my honor and pleasure to inform the community of the latest member to this notable group. Terrell Reber is a giant of the Legion, FISD, and the armor community as a whole. In the early days of the detachment he served as XO numerous times as well as taking a term as detachment leader. When the staff was scratching its head trying to figure out we could possibly do all the graphics processing for creating our first 6 CRLs ever from scratch, it was Terrell who conceived of the IPM (Imperial Propaganda Machine), a group of junior staff who could provide auxiliary support to the newsletter and CRLs in terms of content writing and graphic production. This model is still in use today. If that were not enough to warrant a HOF (Hall of Fame) warrant, Terrell also saw a huge need for affordable stormtrooper armor. Hard as it is to believe these days, most armor back in the early days was FX, and if you wanted something more accurate you had to pay a high price for TE type armor, if you could find it at all. The only other alternative was low quality recasts of TE, to which numerous potential Legion members had fallen prey. Terrell created ATA – Affordable Trooper Armor that so many Legion members wear today. It was high quality, TE armor that was actually affordable. He never took payments in advance and was such a stickler for quality that his plastic was purchased as a custom run. On top of this he provided peerless service, offering replacement parts at cost and always being available to answer question and help new people out. The fact that the Legion stormtrooper has transformed to what it is today is due to no small part of the advent of ATA, and it’s hard to overstate the impact this had on the community. Lastly, anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Terrell in person can attest to what a kind, decent and positive person he was. He was forever gracious with his time and help, living up to the spirit of troopers helping troopers. Everyone who met him found a new friend. He is sorely missed by all of us lucky to have known him, and it is only appropriate that his memory lives on in the Stormtrooper Hall of Fame of the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment. With Unquestioned Loyalty Paul Hoeffer TK-8020 "Daetrin" FISD Founder, DL emeritus "FISD Memes" Thank you to Luca "Morgi" TK-66744 for starting a FISD specific meme thread, hope to see more of these in the future not only by you but by others as well. You can find the thread here. WE NEED YOU TO UPDATE YOUR BUILD THREADS As most would be aware we are diligently working through the forums updating watermarked images, missing images and broken links, this has taken over a year so far and has been a monumental task but there is still a lot of work ahead of us. Members build threads are one of the biggest areas of watermarked/missing images and we are asking you the membership to help and update your build threads yourselves as this is just too big a task for staff. Build threads requiring updates are being moved over to this area https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/241-build-threads-requireing-maintenance/ Thank you in advance for your cooperation. New FISD Tri-Fold Brochure We have launched our revised Detachment Tri-Fold brochure. It's been quite a long time since we actually had these available and since then many things have changed leading us to updating some of the text to include new costumes, and have more relevant information. Originally these were done in a limited run by the member who created them, but nowadays, we have moved this to a print your own service making them accessible to all countries around the globe. Files are available to all full 501st members on request, and are completed in a very high resolution to ensure quality in a finished product. The thread can be found here for more information and how to access the files. INFORMATION & AWARD PROGRAMS For a full list of FISD awards head here. Are you new to the FISD and wondering what the heck all those abbreviations and strange sounding terms mean? To help you @justjoseph63 has started a list of the most commonly used ones that will give you some insight. If you have ANY questions about a particular term that is not listed or suggestions for new ones please contact Joseph. You can find the list here. Pre Approval Forum allows future Troopers the opportunity to submit photos of their completed build to be reviewed by the Staff, Imperial Attaches and others in preparation for forwarding it to their GML for approval. Any and all advice/suggestions given will be specific, constructive, helpful and respectful. Please note that this program will NOT take the place of your local GML, as Detachments are not chartered for costume approval and can not override a GMLs decision, but is instead a peer review program designed to help you look your best and offer guidance and positive feedback. Don't forget to visit our 3D section when next surfing the FISD forums, there is plenty of useful information to potentially help you on your next TK adventure. Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. To register a “win” in the program, the assistance must have provided hands-on help trimming, building, and/or fitting of said armor for the person who was awarded Expert Infantry status. These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. With Unquestioned Loyalty Glen "Q" Rhodes TK-85421 "gmrhodes13" PRO, Newsletter Social Media Hey troopers, Please note that we've seen an increase in "spam" posts on the Detachment's Facebook page (1st Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment (FISD) Official), claiming to be selling FISD-branded merchandise. These are in no way authorized by the FISD or Legion and should be immediately reported by clicking the three dots in the top right corner of the post and selecting "Report post to group admins". Any unauthorized sales posts will be removed, and due to the influx of potentially fraudulent, fake, or "hacked" accounts, any posts related to t-shirts or apparel will also result in the ban of the person posting from the group. To be clear, these posts are NOT coming from actual Legion or FISD members, and for almost all other offenses, a warning will be issued first. The only place you will find official, FISD-branded merch being sold is on the FISD forums in the Detachment Merchandise section as posted by our DMBO, currently James S. @jsilvius. Likewise, only the DL, DMBO or Admins will post merch announcements in the Facebook group. While this is apparently a problem across several other Legion Facebook pages, please ensure you do not support these scammers by clicking, liking, or sharing their posts (or posts of any other unauthorized merch), and report activity as you see it. We are continuing to investigate the source to see if we can link them to a particular Rebel cell, but are also exercising additional scrutiny when adding new members to the group in an effort to keep the group free of spam and focused on Troopers Helping Troopers! Here’s the start of my rebuild of a purchased complete, "ready-to-wear" ANH HERO Stormtrooper kit from Andrew Ainsworth’s, Shepperton Design Studios, 76 The Green, Twickenham, Middx, England, TW2 5AG This kit is far from being compliant to even meet Level 1 CRL guidelines; interesting having come from the shop that designed and produced all the original suits in 1977. Ukswrath’s build threads have been my primary guide to all the revisions to get to my initial approval. Many others have answered many questions over the past weeks as I’ve progressed through my first build or more aptly put, "rebuild".1 point

Many (if not most) of the items we offer can only be seen once you get your Basic 501st approval (official TK #) and request Legion access here on the FISD. Runs of various merch vary throughout the year, but as Glen said we are limited to the number of items we can offer. Trading cards are indeed a thing and we can help with that when the time comes. These are nice to have to hand out to kids and such during troops. This is the current standard template Or you can design your own1 point

Not sure if this is a popular way to do this, but I hand-sew my patches. Just gives it a bit of character and makes it a bit more personal, so I like it1 point

[24] 10.09.2022 -- Fanfilm "Descendants of Order 66" Premiere Kiel After 16 years of work, the team who had worked on this movie finally got to show it in cinema for the first time and as some of them are members of the 501st themselves, they requested some support. We trooped outside of the cinema for about an hour and I ran into an old teacher of mine (left in the picture). I didn't approach her and she didn't notice who I was, but it was still very funny and awkward at the same time Having found one of the droids we were looking for, we decided to suit down to watch the movie. Honestly, 9.5/10, would definitely recommend, go check it out on YouTube! Those special effects are so very Star Wars, this might as well have been a canon movie. Afterwards five of us got back into costume to troop some more before meeting up with everyone for some food and talk. TK-66744 signing off1 point

It probably couldn't hurt to drop them a line, but in the last 8 years I have never heard of any complaints about them. Since they do their runs in "waves" they probably get inundated with orders in a small time frame, so bear that in mind. In my dealings with them I have had nothing but top notch service, so hang in there! Give it a few days, and if you still haven't heard anything back just PM me (I have a few contacts there).1 point

I ordered boot this past wave as well and just had an email confirmation from PayPal. They responded to a previous email. I don't feel concerned. Bart1 point

I also ordered from them this cycle. Got an R1 undersuit and boots on the way. This is my third order from IB and have had no issues in the past. They're a small shop and DO reply to emails, just not always right away. I also only got the order confirmation. My last order was for a set of pilot gloves and TIE undersuit. They were out of materials for the TIE and emailed me right away. I cancelled that part of the order and they shipped me the gloves with free shipping as an apology. Totally not necessary and I wasn't angry in the slightest, but the free shipping was a nice gesture. They earned my business a third time. First order was a set of 421 boots back in 2017. Quick shipping and super comfy with the right insole. I use those with my ANH TK to this day.1 point

Just getting the BBB picture out of the way. I had been thinking about getting a Rogue One kit after finishing up a couple of other works in progress, but some unplanned weight loss has made my ANH-S TK a little loose, and this kit came up for sale on the 501st boards, so ... Armor: 850 Armorworks Helmet: 850, but I'll be doing a Black Series conversion (trust me, it will look better) Boots: Imperial Boots Gloves: Imperial Boots Neck seal: Imperial Boots, but will be replaced with one that fits better ... Undersuit: Still need to confirm Blaster: Came with an Imperial Arms kit, but I have a @trooper96 kit I plan on using instead I haven't done much with it yet. It's already been rough trimmed, which is good - for the most part. The original owner trimmed all of the teeth off of the front belt, so that required a replacement. They also had the forearms and biceps completely glued, which required some disassembly and reassembly on my part to install the velcro. And the shins ... well, see for yourself: At first I thought "Oh, both sets of shins open to the right - I'll have to fix that." Then I realized that they had glued the inner shins together as one set, and the outer shins together as the other. This has been fixed. What else - the cover strips have been added to the biceps and forearms (sorry, no pictures at the moment). I ordered shoulder straps from @BigJasoni's Etsy shop to replace the 850 ones, and bought a couple of ab closure kits as well (more on that later). And one last set of photos from an armor party (my first attending) earlier this month: A little ugly, but I was just getting a rough idea of where everything should sit. Hopefully I won't have to trim anything off of the ab/kidney. And one last thing for this first post - I would like to thank @11b30b4, @BigJasoni, @TheRascalKing, @TerribleBen, @Twelveravens, and @Imperial Valour . The detail that you guys put into your build threads has already been a lot of help.1 point

I did a hooded zip up sweatshirt. Just a basic brand with no labels. Sewed a large 501st patch on the back, my garrison on the left chest and my TK ID on the other. I’m a basic guy so I didn’t need much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
