16/07/22 At 4 Kingdoms Adventure Park in Thatcham, Reading in aid of The Royal British Legion Some photos of the day My induction event! It was very hot but great fun, spent the morning crewing and learning the trade and did 40 minutes in the suit. Had lots of pictures with kids, definitely caught the bug!1 point

Good afternoon fellow troops and artists! Today we've got a mini drop of appendage snap plates updates before-finally!-inching towards the straps. Here are the freshly glued (E6000 adhesive) shoulder bells and thighs. Here's the ab plate with punched male button snap. Here we have the bicep and forearm pieces with newly adjusted snap plates. Notice how they follow the reference more closely. Thank you @gmrhodes13 for the supplied reference! As always, sincere thank you's for your continued support and guidance through this project!1 point

Just updating my build here. Right arm outer cover strips are now in place on both the bicep and the lower bracer. Glued and painted the abdomen buttons in place. Glued inner cover strips inside shins on both legs. Slow and steady wins the race. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Any parts under strain should be left to fully dry, I normally leave up to 72 hours for those pieces. Your boo boo may not even be noticed for base level approval, for higher a little ABS paste may help1 point

It can be removed if needed, depends how it sits on the shin, I actually cut a notch out of the front so it sits better on the coverstrip, also helps to keep centred when adding clamps and tape for gluing.1 point

Haha. Adding this thread to the E-11 section of the resource compilation for kicks and giggles.1 point

104. Star Wars Night with the Reno Aces, Reno, NV - 7/30 (Phasma) Despite a rocky start (including NO HELMET FANS), this troop was an absolute BLAST! I meet some new people from the Reno area, had a second-time handler assist me (and he rocked it! He's working on a Galactic Marine for entry right now), saw some old friends from up North (some I'd just seen at Rivercats, but always good to see them again), the kids and crowd in general were just SO into it (all of us, but I really saw it directed at me and I got a whole lot of actually being called "Captain Phasma" which is just always great- so many high fives, so many excited patrons. I walked out from the back break area and a group excitedly yelled "Captain Phasma!" and I managed to raise my arms to cheer and we got photos together. I beat my record for hugs at a troop! Some of them might have been the same kid, but I couldn't see well enough to tell, haha- I had eight (previous record was three)! Then in the changing room when we were suiting down, I told the others this and one jumped up immediately and hugged me and said "Nine!" and then another jumped up and said "even number, ten!" and hugged me too. I love my Garrison-mates. My rocky start included the venue changing our room last minute, and me not getting the message (despite being early, unfortunately), so I was headed to the changing room (across the street, no less) as they were doing the Parade of 501st walking into the stadium. Whoops. So I scrambled to get suited up and as I'm trying to adjust my fans, one pulls completely from the wires, so I have only one fan. Not a big deal, I've done one fan troops before. It's about 100F so it's hot but we're in the shade on the concourse, right? The second fan suddenly won't turn on. Then I notice the wires are getting really hot. And there's now smoke starting to come out of the battery box. No fans for me. Which actually worked out just fine- I could hear a little better and most importantly my lenses didn't fog up at all. The air was a little warm in there, but there was nice breezes so overall, it was a hot troop, but I wasn't dying. Alan Fernandes! He was there to throw out the first pitch and sharing our changing room. Super nice guy! I got a super fun compliment from his assistant who said "Wow, it's already impressive and it's just laid out on the floor!" when I was pulling Phasma parts out of the bin in a hurry. They wanted pictures with me and that too was a huge compliment. And of course I had to get one for myself, as well. (I guess he's represented by one of our members who's in that industry, he also reps a couple of Jawa actors). I like to say the irony of me doing all this costuming is mascots and people in costumes used to terrify me as a child, and now here I am. I am very sympathetic when kids aren't sure about us and know when I can push it a little and ease them with the offer of a high five and when to back up a bit. That said, these mascots kind of terrify me. I legit have NO idea what either of them are, .1 point

NEW Detachment Leader Just For Laughs Update Your Build Threads Around the Detachment Trooping INFORMATION & AWARD PROGRAMS Common FISD Acronyms and TK Glossary Pre Approval Forum 3D Section Field Exercise Award Imperial Attaché Program Fire Teams EIB & Centurion: What do these terms mean? Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD Welcome to the July newsletter, July officially closes out on the year long celebration of detachments 15th anniversary. We saw some great merch produced specifically calling out the milestone and I would like to thank everyone that had a hand in the discussions, design and helming of the merch runs. I'd also like to thank everyone who purchased anniversary merch and helped us get the word out of how proud we are to have made it this far. Here's is to the next 15 years I would now like to cover off on a few updates. Thank you to all that participated in the Members choice merch item for this year. looks like the Hoodie was a clear winner, so we will look to see how we can turn this into a reality over the next 6 months. James has allocated a merch slot to this item (we get 6 slots to use a year as per legion merch regulations) so consider it locked in. We may also be looking for some cool designs for this item, but James will work on that and any updates will come from him. I would also like to thank the members and staff alike that participated in our recent TLJ/TroS CRL proposed update Polls. Most found the various proposals made sense but there will be some more discussion around a couple of the elements before proposals are sent through to the LMO team. As per usual, once they do come into effect, any member in the process of a build that may be affected from a basic level stand point will have a 3 month grace period on the changes, but any new build will be required to follow the latest CRL version. While we are on CRL's there will be more work on a few new CRL's taking place based on the newer TV shows. As per the norm, we require members wanting to build these new costumes like the newer Remnant TK's, even the slight peak we had of the HWT seen in Obi Wan series, so you can expect to see a few new posts go live in the near future. CRL creation is reasonably straight forward on some of these newer versions of TK as we already have great base CRL's that can be used as the starting platform. If we don't have a person ready to build a costume, we don't have a CRL model. A CRL cant reach fruition unless it has correct images of all the parts represented by a CRL model, so It can't be created without those two major components. Also to remember, we need some good reference photos. Without those, the LMO team wont recognise a CRL possibility and we can't move forward. The old rule of thumb was a minimum of 4 images. Front, back, Left side and right side, clear screen images.etc This gives good coverage and highlights most things needed to visibly represent a 3D image of the character = happy LMO's, = happy member and DL. In recent times the LMO team have been a little more accepting of additional kinds of reference like Hot toys action figures, and to a lesser extent Black series figures (generally average detail compared to high end action figures). There may also be further exceptions to this like the potential for BTS (Behind The Scenes) information which in the past has only been used to improve on smaller unclear details on some costumes. Again this must all reach the LMO teams expectations and qualifications to allow a new to legion CRL to proceed. In essence, if we have enough acceptable references to clearly indicate a costume, then we are golden to move forward. See you on the forums and in our Social media platforms With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader "FISD Memes" Thank you to Luca "Morgi" TK66744 for starting a FISD specific meme thread, hope to see more of these in the future not only by you but by others as well. You can find the thread here WE NEED YOU TO UPDATE YOUR BUILD THREADS As most would be aware we are diligently working through the forums updating watermarked images, missing images and broken links, this has taken over a year so far and has been a monumental task but there is still a lot of work ahead of us. Members build threads are one of the biggest areas of watermarked/missing images and we are asking you the membership to help and update your build threads yourselves as this is just too big a task for staff. Build threads requiring updates are being moved over to this area https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/241-build-threads-requireing-maintenance/ Thank you in advance for your cooperation. New FISD Tri Fold Brochure We have just launched our newly revised Detachment Tri Fold brochure. It's been quite a long time since we actually had these available and since then many things have changed leading us to updating some of the text to include new costumes, and have more relevant information. Originally these were done in a limited run by the member who created them, but nowadays, we have moved this to a print your own service making them accessible to all countries around the globe. Files are available to all full 501st members on request, and are completed in a very high resolution to ensure quality in a finished product. The thread can be found here for more information and how to access the files. Obi-Wan Kenobi Marathon - Canada The Canadian Garrison was truly honoured to be invited to attend the Obi-Wan Kenobi marathon screening in Toronto in June. They were joined by Hayden Christensen and Deborah Chow, in a theatre packed with Star Wars fans. An incredible night, they want to thank their friends at Walt Disney Studios for such a generous invitation, words cannot describe how much this meant to our members. Great work troopers INFORMATION & AWARD PROGRAMS For a full list of FISD awards head here Are you new to the FISD and wondering what the heck all those abbreviations and strange sounding terms mean? 7/30/22 - School Supply Givewaway My 19th TK troop This was a huge school supply give away put on by a half dozen organizations around ABQ and held at a church. The scale of this giveaway was staggering. There must have been 3000 kids and each of them got a backpack, papers, pencils, binders, crayons, etc. It was incredible. 2.5 hours of trooping. 501st, Mercs, Rebels, Ghostbusters, and NM Avengers were all in attendance to entertain the families in the huuuuuuuuge line. Did I mention it was huge? Hours of standing in line. Mr Pool had the right idea for a costume abbreviation. I'm a little jealous. About here is where a kid said "aww, the Star Wars is taking a picture with Spiderman" and we both nearly fell over. One of two togruta mercs in the world. His armor was stunning. They had a concert and food event at the end once the school goodies were given out. The troopers were invited up to play.1 point

Troop number 2, the 1st official one without induction! This was a very small event, a charity kid's football match (soccer for the Americans!). There were only 3 costumes including me and 1 crew member so I had a lot more attention on me than expected but coped okay with it, even doing the odd bit of talking although I'm still waiting for my Tramp so it's not very loud, that's probably a good thing though! Need to practice that American accent! Also got the 1st bit of rain on my suit1 point

Thank you everyone for your kind words. Terrell was my older brother. He is surely missed. The weight of our grief is the love we still have for him that can’t be expressed. I’m so glad his legacy will live on in such a wonderful community.1 point
