Photo of box backs was taken last week with my old gloves (nomex), I forgot to take this one new with the new gloves (in photos above). Also waiting on a new garter from Vader Dave, since this one is not my finest crafting work. So the snap showing and worn out elastic will be gone soon.

I wonder how I could go about cleaning up those stripes. Would I have to paint thinner the entire tear, or do you think I might be able to chip it away with a toothpick? I guess an alternative as well is to just clean the black with another layer of grey...?

I would start with trying to paint more grey over some of the black until you have a nice and suitably thin stripe of black. And if that doesn't work I'd try the other methods.
